When I worked in there, there was a suspicious package that evacuated half the whole station, idek how many ODs which is horrible, I couldn’t count how many I saw or how many I reported. An OD I called about, left zipped up on a stretcher, like this is only what I saw on my smoke breaks. How my store had a panic button underneath every single till, one time this guy who had been a problem was choking out a girl in the middle of the station, security on the floor above just doing jack shit to the point myself and a random stranger passing by stepped in as she was turning purple. Like, I can’t put into words how the city is deteriorating every hour…

I love how the security guards were all brand new immigrants too ? In brampton there was a line up at a restaurant 1000 people long for ONE job posting. \n\nIts impossible to live here. And the government thinks its OK because aggregate market prives for apartments are 'acceptable'at 2300/month for a single bedroom. The problem is that 60% or mortgage come due this year, we have 2 million immigrants who are underhoused, and all these people are looking for multi bedroom units which have tripled in price since 2019\n\nEdit: before anyone takes this the wrong way, this is not the fault of the people coming here for a better life, it's a federal/provincial government problem for scamming 100s or thousands of people out of a life here.

First and foremost, Canada has a society problem. It is devoid of energy. To much rules, and restrictions. Lacks social activities, lacks life and energy in essence. People become bored, isolated, depressed and preserved. No social interactions, no competitiveness, no sport, no outdoors, no zeal, no enthusiasm. People barely talk to each other for fear of some dump privacy and security.\n\nThen on the other end for professional, too many protocols and licensing requirements for every single thing.\n\nIt is just too laidback for a modern society.\n\nFor me, I think the society needs to open up.

Dude, I am a student from another country. The government did not provide me home or money. I am working, I found a home myself, I pay rent myself, I am working and i pay tuition fee and I pay rent. I dont see how this problem is caused by international students. Haha, if you look closely. You will not find any international student living on the streets because we are educated, not on drugs, hard working. We work, earn and make a living. We dont rely on government for basic necessities. Dont blame us

Housing is a huge problem we immigrate more people than we build new homes that’s obviously going to be a problem. Growth has to happen by immigration or convincing the people here to have more children but you need to build the homes to keep up with the demand it’s that simple.

As someone who lives just outside of Toronto, the city has devolved in so many ways over the years. This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed ASAP.

I lived in the city on and off as a kid and I saw homeless people every now and then depending where I was. I fell in love with the areas I lived in and seeing where my dad grew up and high park. Now I don’t feel safe. I don’t even think I’d feel safe bringing my dog down and visiting my family. Now I see a lot of people homeless in nicer areas and just everywhere. It’s truly so sad my dad even said that it there was problems when he was growing up but now it’s just so much worse.

the west is neglecting the people born here and flooding our countries with millions of people from the third world. the US has just as insane immigration numbers as us. I don't think most people hate immigrants but we cant sustain these numbers any more its killing us all. The homeless problem has become way worse over the years. Canada has become way too expensive to live with the outrageous prices in rent, heat, hydro, food, property taxes it’s bloody outrageous. Ppl loose their jobs and find they can’t afford to pay their rents and mortgages along with all the other bills if they can’t find another job right away. And companies are to hire minority over white ppl. A white male in Ontario, forget about it. White ppl have become minority now in the work force. Absolutely the cost of living has caused the homeless problem to sky rocket. As far as the system it’s true that the system takes care of foreigners first over Canadians. I remember many years ago I tried to get student assistance to take courses and I was rejected because I lived with a parent, the person on the other end of the phone told me strait out if I was a foreigner I’d of gotten the assistance, and this was way before Trudeau was in the picture!!!

These trailer park transplant don't realize that its the small towns they come from that send all these addicts, alcoholics and criminals to Toronto. For decades small towns have been dumping their most valuable residents on buses and sending them to Toronto. And whenever the government proposed to these small towns to build resources for their families and community like safe injection sites and homeless shelters they straight out refuse to allow it in their community. Its time to send these people back and let their communities fix the problem. Toronto is tired of small towns dumping their problems on the city.

I rarely see comments open on CBC... there must be a reason... hmmmm The fact that the Trudeau government (who owns CBC) is looking for an opinion means that it is FINALLY getting through to them that when immigration outpaces available housing you get a problem... when you do it by margins of millions of people you get a CATASTROPHY!
