We had a very nice family in our church whose work permit ended and it was very heart breaking for our church family to lose our friends, even after much prayer. That said, the Canadian government must be primarily concerned with the welfare of Canadian citizens not internationals.

Everybody knows it, but everyone either lies about it or pretends it's otherwise. The primary motive of international students from low and lower income countries coming to Canada is for permanent residency, registering into a post-secondary course is just the price to pay for PR as far as they are concerned. International students know it, the government knows it, and post-secondary institutions know it. Let's all drop the education charade and have a clear cut policy about immigration through education. One easy way is by strictly requiring that all foreign graduates can ONLY apply for immigration from their home country after graduating from Canada. This is the only way Canada can control the timing, the process and the quality of people.

Polliver can not be relied on , as example , when Chinese police stations became known it was that group from Spain that warned the citizens of Canada . As the Queens official opposition why did not polliver bring charges for those involved in those setting up and establishing Chinese police stations in Canada ? This international student thing has always been a popular pathway to PR status in Canada .\nThe government actually did promote it thought it a good idea to have young people after finishing their education to stay in Canada .\nIt was not a promise and not all would be excepted though \nObviously the policy was good for the schools but the government never considered the impact on Canadians cause they couldn’t care less .\nThe constant lie has always been Canada has too many jobs and not enough workers.\nThe recent 30 billion hand out to foreign automakers to set up EV factories proved what a lie that was when the government was willing to spend 3 million dollars to create one low skilled factory job obviously hard up for jobs .\nThere are videos on the net showing line ups of hundreds of people to try and get a job in a grocery store stacking shelves.\nTrudeau has destroyed Canada and most likely he will be gone but don’t expect the conservatives to be any different.\nPee Pee has never said he would slam the door shut in fact his only criticism of the Libs immigration policy was that it was taking too long to get people into Canada .\nCanadians are stupid they always vote in governments that screw them over time after time on all levels of government.\nThere is a party that would slam the door shut but they only got 2% of the vote in the last election.\nSo 98% of Canadians are stupid and they really deserve the country they have created for themselves.\nThis just didn’t happen recently it has been going on for years seriously where did Canadians think we were going to put all these people ?

Unfortunately what people don't understand, is that college and university educations are kept low for domestic students because the schools are funded by thr government. \n\nHow about stop all government funding for colleges/universities and everyone pays their own tuition at fair market rates.

Australia don't even give PR to people who studied there unless they study the profession which they need. I like to go to Japan and live there so I will go for study there and then demand Japanese government to give me PR??? government is not saying no to you but government wants you to study the profession which is needed not fast food servers, security guard and truck drivers because for these jobs people are already here in Canada in tons. And when you saturate the labour market for these unskilled jobs then the corporations would have upper hands and they will suppress the wages and the living standards of everyone will go down. So don't try to become victim here I know you are Punjabi and I am from third world country too these tactics are old to become victim. Go study skill trade and build home for Canadians and then the government will give you PR no doubt. But you pendoos Jut came from Punjab villages and can't study hard subjects and looking for easy ways to get PR.

Maybe the only one to blame is him since is not in REAL danger in his bled. BTW, while they wait for decision they receive enough money from government to live much better than in their country. Much better than in USA.

It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). Canada needs a division between government and business which is the case in many Scandinavian countries.

Canada has been the down the road of high immigration in the past, erven in the face of housing shortages. This happened right after World War II. To deal with the shortage of rental housing stock then in the large cities, the government put demands on immigrants and refugees to settle in agricultural areas and small town Canada. But, it seems today that most immigrants just want to go to the already overcrowded cities, especially Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal. Rural Canada is now facing manpower shortages, but has a fair amount of housing, as many small towns have actually shrunk in population over the years. and could use the people. Immigrants assimilate better in small towns.

Twenty years ago I left Canada and boy am I glad I did so. The country has turned into a disaster unless you're rich. The obsene house and rental prices are obviously the result of gross mismanagement. I mean, the government employs economists who should be able to advise that too many buyers and too few houses is going to lead to major trouble. A rich country with so much land should not have this problem. When it comes to gas prices, Canadians have to drive some of the longest distances in the world and are forced to pay such high gas prices. Since there is almost no public transportation, what choice to people have but drive. Regarding the grocery situation, allowing a handful of massive companies hold Canadians ransom is complete bullshit. This is where the government needs to do something to rein in this behavior. Obviously people need to eat but allowing these companies to rake in obsene profits because of this basic need is a crime. I hate the idea of a PC government, but the Liberals have definitely failed.

I don’t agree that all students came with a fake letter. Changing the rules in the middle of the situation is a true concern. This is a government mistake who puts a lot of people’s lives and finances at risk. Students are victims too, not only Canadians!

As a South Asian, I agree 100% Brampton is not multicultural , it feels like India/Pakistan. Canada is a great country and millions of people from around the world would come here if given a chance. Higher education is a provincial responsibility, however who issues the visa is the federal government. So the federal government needs take accountability when they are stamping visas to low level schools that are clearly exploiting international students

Both federal and provincial governments are complicit regarding the housing shortage. They knew WELL in advance that accepting too many immigrants, and not building a matching number of dwellings for them would cause housing shortages and push up prices greatly. They also knew WELL in advance that higher housing costs would destroy discretionary income and push living standards down for the working class. There's no surprises here. If they say otherwise, know for certain they're lying.\n\nCanada's economy is suffering because too much income must be allocated for housing, leaving far less for everything else. The result is increased unemployment, which will only get worse as more and more mortgages are renewed at high interest rates.\n\nBottom line: Canada is being converted into a two tier society. If he was deported because he was driving without a license or driving dangerously, I would agree to that, but if it was a mistake, I feel like this is a bit harsh. South Asian Indians are fourth generation Canadians and are educated, successful and have assimilated with the European culture.
