Hello, I'm Afro-Latin and I just have one question, it's Canada a good place for black people who want to go there to live, will my kids be save of racism being black????? Last summer I was followed around a PetSmart by staff for the entire 10 minutes I was in there before I was so uncomfortable that I left. I work in retail. I know what they were doing. The higher up you go in terms of qualifications requirements is the less likely you are to find discrimination based on names in Toronto. \n\nThe real discrimination is at the bottom of the pay scale where the people making the decisions are less likely to be university educated and more likely to be say a white forklift driver who came up through the ranks and has been promoted through length of service rather than and specific qualification. I knew people who worked best buy.. and certain floor reps get paid at least in part via commission.. or at least they use to.. typically the ones that approach you are the ones working to make sales.. they will usually only do so in certain areas though.. such as Computer area, home entertainment area, appliance area, phone area, POSSIBLY game area particularly if they notice you looking at the consoles, and occasionally I get approached when i am looking at personal entertainment stuffs such as the decent headphone and ipod/mp3 player area... If you stick to CDs, movies and stuff that you can just grab .. typically they wont bother you much.. unless you linger there too long.. then a floor rep might think you might need help looking at something.. In my experience they are just overly hover because they have to be.. but unless you are looking at something that is a focus of sales or a board employee finds you .. you almost have to hunt down reps to help you with something..
