As forth generation Canadian I left years ago and never ever want to return .\nGrowing up Canada was the greatest place to live but with years of Canada being flooded with a million new bodies a year it’s become a horror show .\nSure many coming are great people but they won’t stick around once they see with their own eyes the realities there .\nSo anyone loving to come to Canada are obviously from third world hell holes and are coming for the free stuff .\nCanada has new migrants from the worst countries in the world countries you would never ever dream of visiting but now those people live next door.\nI watched a YouTube stream from Toronto on New Year’s Eve and did not recognize my old Toronto the good anymore .\nRight at Yonge and Dundas the main intersection in Canada 95 % of the people were South Asian and 80% were male .\nThere was no Christmas decorations in Toronto just one sad looking tree they call a remembrance tree .\nDon’t know what we are supposed to remember what Toronto use to be when they celebrated Christmas and it was a White Christian country ?\nIf you can believe it Toronto doesn’t even have a New Year’s party concert celebration anymore ,just lame fireworks over Lake Ontario.\nMontreal doesn’t even have fireworks anymore lol \nTake my advice get the heck out of Canada move to Thailand where housing is cheap ,food cheap and people are nice .\nYou only live once don’t waste it in miserable Canada

I can understand why people want to leave or not come to Canada, weather, cold weather can last up to six months and the summer isn’t always that great. Another reason, taxes…. Canadians are taxed to death here, you are taxed on everything here and if you make good money and aren’t paying enough taxes, you could pay a good chunk come tax time. Job market sucks, there are lots of jobs but these jobs don’t pay the greatest. Cost of living has skyrocketed over the years and in my personal opinion, since Justin Trudeau has been PM, everything has doubled in cost, so many people are struggling, many young couples can’t afford a house, rent has been on the rise over the years and so many people rely on the food banks, the highest it’s ever been in Canadian history, crime has gone up and drug use has also gone up and oddly enough, ever since Trudeau has been in charge and I’m sure some will disagree with this but Canada was never like this before Trudeau.

In all honestly i'm Canadian and you have to be filthy rich to live here, our health care is shit and there is more homeless than anything even in the smaller cities, Everything is 2X more expensive here and the taxes is up through the roof because of fucking trudeau. It's not worth coming here unless you're rich.

I think your reading of the situation is slight from the wrong end of scope. \n\n1> the job of the Canadian gov is to look after Canadians. (Yes they allow immigrants but that is for the benefit of Canadians and not the other way around. \n\nThe house prices are intentionally kept high. The reason is because it makes existing citizens richer. (Year on year) these people vote and the gov would like their vote) . Creating huge supply of housing is going to crash the market and that will end up people feeling poor. (Values will drop : demand and supply) . Falling values mean people will feel poor and then less likely to vote for the current administration.\n\nI am based in UK which is experiencing record amount of immigration. \n\nTaxes here are high.(I don’t mind high taxes as long as there are good public services to show for them) \n\nGood roads \nHigh speed internet \nGood infrastructure \nHospitals \n\nSo the job of the gov (in western hemisphere) generally is to keep the voting public happy. \n\nThat involves \n\n1>Good public services (most are social states and people accept high taxation as a trade off for good public services) \n\n2> rising house prices. (Voting public wants to feel richer and owning your home is like your retirement and pension pot. Most of the wealth in uk is stored in property. (I guess same in Canada to some extent ) \n\n3> control of immigration. People want immigration but want good immigration l. People who will come and contribute to society. Too much of it can be an issue for existing citizens and also immigrants themselves selves.\n\n\nOn a separate note. People deciding where to settle always remember. Long term the proximity to the world matters . Europe is still the centre of the world. Cross east to Asia and west to Canada and USA etc. living in Canada (west coast specially is like the edge of the world just like living in NZ ) \n\nPopulation matters. \nThe Canadian population and Australian population is less than of Uk (as far as I know ) and the land mass is huge. Generations of immigrants arrived here with nothing except their will and determination to succeed. They didn't look for or expect help from the Government. Quite the opposite- they were determined to succeed on their own. And the vast majority did quite well. Today you get the impression that people are coming here and immediately want to lean on the Government and the taxpayer. This is exactly what the Trudeau Liberals have coveted. Much like his father, JT is trying to portray himself as the champion of immigrants in order to secure a new generation of Liberal voters. Canadians see this farce for what it is.

I figured this was coming eventually. Canadians were known my entire life up until the last few years as jolly, mind your own business folks who didn’t mind a hockey fight but it’s really been a drastic cultural shift. Sorry guys, all of the reasons that you mentioned except maybe the inflation (which I think is temporary and happening around the world), are the reasons that you SHOULD STAY in Canada. If you leave then you are giving up challenges and trying to find an easy way out. Please remember nothing comes easy and if you leave Canada then you are not going to be part of the struggle to change the mindsets of Canadian society that Muslims can be also accepted in Canada as they are, which may not come during your or your children's lifetime but it will come eventually maybe during your grandchildren or great grandchildren's lifetime and you need plant the seed for that now otherwise there will be no fruitful outcome. It needs lots of patience and initial suffering for a group of minority or downtrodden people to be accepted within the mainstream societly. If the Muslim people start leaving Canada just like you guys then there will be fewer Muslims for this struggle to bring changes in Canadian society. I think you are escapign the struggle and suffering and you guys can affford that but you are leaving many of them behind who cannod afford to leave Canada and it will make their lives even worse and the future generation. The definition of a canadain is an american without a gun and public health care... otherwise it is hard to tell the difference.... Canada has almost 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad skating... The province of Quebec which is still part of canada (don't tell them that) has the language police to be as anti-american and any democratic as possible, they only tolerate english if it is in US$ and tax other taxes with the most expensive bloated government of any state north of Mexico. The cartels are envious... all things purchased are imported (except animals and greenhouse tomatoes)are american with the exchange rate of almost 33%... This is very old news. Living in Canada has always been expensive and that is way many Canadians come to USA to work. But Chinese who have immigrated to Canada are leaving Canada, because realizing the economic reality is not in their favor.

As a *ONCE PROUD* older Canadian I would *STRONGLY URGE ALL PEOPLE* looking to immigrate to look elsewhere. Everything that was the wonderful free, secure, safe, affordable-ish, fun country I grew up in, *IS TOTALLY GONE starting in 2015* and rapidly getting frighteningly worse every year after. I believe it’s time to take the foot off the immigration pedal. The numbers are wayyyy too high and we are starting to have serious difficulties in integrating the numbers that are coming to our shores as witnessed by ghettoization and rising crime numbers in communities. The immigration numbers are having a disastrous effect on the housing market for both established Canadians and immigrants. The high numbers are also putting unprecedented pressure on our healthcare regime which was not designed to serve the increasing numbers. What I find extremely difficult to understand is our inability to take care of our First Nations population by providing them with more opportunities, better housing and clean drinking water, yet invite people to our land who have tenuous and transient loyalties to the nation. Ultimately we arent doing immigrants any favours by inviting them to a nation that’s finding it increasingly difficult to get its act together.

Many of the issues you bring up are the same here, but I am willing to deal with those over the impending chaos we are seeing down here. I am an American living close to the border in Buffalo, but I am considering a move to Canada due to the political climate down here. I would rather pay a little more in taxes & gas than deal with the Christian Taliban we are heading for. The Canadian housing market can be fixed, food prices can come down, but once you start losing rights, it's time to consider your options. When I (a straight white guy in his 50's) can see the writing on the wall, it's getting close to time. That being said, living in a state (New York) that will fight the incoming stripping of our rights, will buy us a few years. I can deal with all the other things (high housing costs, soul crushing medical debt, overpriced college, & out of control gun violence), but we are way too close to a civil war for my comfort. I travel up and down the east coast and don't believe what they are saying, we are way too close to a pre-WW2 Germany situation for anyone to feel safe. The amount of gun owners threatening violence is very concerning.

Dont bother coming to Canada, its freezing for 6 months, and getting a job is virtually impossible, its very expensive to live and the taxes are more than 50%. Stay away. The thing about Canadian experience is so true, even for Canadians that live abroad and then come back. I spent my 20s living in Japan and when I moved back to Canada I had such a hard time finding a job because all of my experience from the past decade was overseas. It’s taken me about 6 years to get stable footing here again but the rising cost of living still has be feeling a bit uneasy at times.

Nobody dares to say this but Canadians or rather white Canadians are racists, arrogant and exploitative. They can come across as nice on a superficial basis to the uninitiated. Many much needed legal immigrants have quietly suffered since the late 90s. They are finally realising this but it’s too late for them. The new ones, however, have such a bad deal that they reach the conclusion sooner. The decision to settle in the white west is now an utter stupidity unless you are alone and in your 20s and not planning to have a family.

The CCP was Party to these programs till Xi’s second term of rule and the huge budget deficits occurring due to the transference of Chinese domestic spending happening overseas especially in Canada and Australia caused the CCP to stop this growing deficit in household spending within the Chinese domestic economy. No offence to new immigrants but if you came here past 2018 you should not be allowed to buy a house until house prices get back to sane levels. I was born in raised in a small town surrounded by farmland in Ontario and the average cost of a home is now 700k. 20 years ago it was 150k. No one I grew up with can afford a home, I'm sorry but Canadians first. Other countries seem to care way more about their own people waaaay more than here. I feel like Canadians are constantly the ones who just have to suck it up. Its absolutely nonsense. Either something has to happen or I, and many Canadians in the same position will leave.
