People immigrate to Canada because they failed to succeed in their own countries. Many of them have fake degrees. . I have met many of them at work who know little about what they claim their degree is in. A wealthy businessperson in South America or Asia has no interest in relocating to Canada. Why would someone leave a tropical paradise and come to Canada unless they're a nobody in their own country.

This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. I moved to Toronto in 2021 in search of a better life but only found poverty, crime and hopelessness. Just like hundreds of thousand of immigrants, I was lured into the idea of a first world country, and spent my life savings to move there. As a highly skilled worker, I am barely able to make ends meet working a job I’d be making at least 3 times more in my home country (Brazil). I am moving to the US now as cost of living is far lower and average pay is much higher.

It’s not a cost of living crisis it’s wage devaluation. This could be fixed if everyone joined a trade union and fight for above inflation indexed pay rises. The cost of living crisis is a transfer of wealth from the working classes to the rich, then the media keep everyone ignorant so they blame immigrants and Muslims.

As a year 2000 immigrant and 67 years old retired that had to go back to work to survive, I give newcomers to Canada one simple advice : GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE...things are going to change in only one direction WORSE.

This is my 13th year in Canada, I am so sad to see the change, I really hope it will become a better country again with Trudeau stepping down. But we also have to be fair that there are not many countries become better since COVID. Many of you leaving or planning to leave Canada are more like rich country retirees taking advantage of the wage and currency differences between rich and poor countries. So let’s put it this way, if many of you have not worked your whole life here in Canada, will you still have a quality of life in your home countries, such as Southeast Asia or South America? I doubt majority of the population there is make a good money and having great work life balance, and everyone there could afford a decent retirement life. what is more close to nowadays reality is people coming here and hoping they could have a better paid job and settle down here, but most of them found out they are struggling to even maintain their normal life in this country, so they left. For those who came years ago, they made a saving which may not be enough to support a good retirement life here, but is more than enough in other countries, they also choose to flee. Then those successful immigrants will stay here with the option to travel anywhere they want. My son's classmate's grandfather immigrated to Canada long time ago who later become a well known cardiologist and was rewarded as one of the top 25 immigrants Award, all three daughters are now specialists too. I really hope Canada could rise again!

I’ve witnessed some really disgusting treatment of immigrants first hand, and I have a lot of friends/ coworkers who are immigrants from Latin America and the Middle East, and I’ve heard a lot from them about the micro aggressions that they get from Canadians everyday, the dirty looks they get when speaking their native languages in public, and the immense pressure to assimilate. I like what she says about her grandchildren, in future years, may have to leave wherever they go now… alluding to the possibility (I believe) that perhaps there is no permanently perfect place… I can understand how they would appreciate living somewhere where the daily prayers are announced 5 times daily over loudspeaker. I often feel so very isolated in myself in MY way of life here in Canada (which doesn’t happen to be as a Muslim). After all, we are the “cultural melting pot,” and so many people of different cultures have come here and tried to make a life work for them. Canada is seen as “a land of dreams” by many, but it depends on what our dreams are, for real. For instance, what were many immigrants hoping for when they fled Europe after World War II? This family is telling us what they dream for their family, and Canada is not a good fit for what they value.

Been dying to leave this place for 15 years now.. but unlike Canada, it's quite hard to actually get a work permit and stay in the countries I've attempted to live in.. meanwhile I've watched as people just flock to Canada on student visas and end up staying here. I'm not 'anti immigration' but it definitely needs to be a two way street between countries.. If I could get a work visa to a few different places, mainly Japan, I'd pack up and leave tomorrow.. Canada just isn't it for me and hasn't been for a long time..

First generation immigrants have always worked in labour jobs to get started. We are proud of our parents who sacrificed their careers for us. Taxation is about collective living. We will continue to improve. Crime here is nothing compared to most countries in the world. You give anecdotal evidence. Random stabbing is much better than mass shooters. Drug crisis is real. This will be global issue, including Asia. C-18 is making tech companies accountable and pay up. Making friends is easy here. If you move around a lot, you can’t build friendships.

Immigration needs to slow down.. Born and raised and it's. A mess now. Be living in Toronto for over 20 years. I feel it is getting worse every year.\nCanada is well known for high salary, good benifit and health card. Sorry, I still love Canada, look at what is going on around the world, and quite fine to be here, Most industrialized countries are expensive to live in, no matter where you’re at today, inflation, high accommodation rates, and food increases, are everywhere. Maybe we’re just lucky, but our healthcare around us is quite good, and when I compare to what people pay in the United States for healthcare premiums for average to decent healthcare. It’s a bargain. Never understand people crying about the weather who immigrate here, for Gosh sakes, you moved to a northern climate. What do you expect? Do you really expect the world climate to change for you and to be more like the southern hemisphere country you came from? Weather doesn’t work that way. Why did people leave their original country if they were just so wonderful in the first place? A ton of political instability where they came from and few jobs.

Rising cost of living is a trend especially when inflation is high in North America, the government should be more proactive in increasing the housing supply and creating affordable housing. Canada immigration system is skill based but the country also needs blue collar workers to fill jobs needed in the economy. I read too many articles where doctors work in factories there. The last is job growth, the government needs to invest in infrastructure and create environment for business to come to the country. Yes, US has the same problems but the salaries are higher south of the border. The average Facebook employee receives 800K compensation yearly.

True & Honest. You based it in a good higher ratio of salary & still fairly calculated disaster. Imagine if an average working class making only $ 35-40k per year single person. This is majority of single immigrants. Below poverty but no other choice but to keep going. \nRetired here & achieved good career but as soon you reach 65/ pensioner , Canada put you on poverty level receiving $1,700 / a month ( based on working full time for 35 years ) no private company pension. Luckily I have private company pension but still considered on poverty level as senior. \nDifferent story if you saved money etc rrsp… yeah right lol \nGo figure if you’re renting or have fully paid condo / house… can’t afford maintenance fee, bills etc. \nended up selling the place. Does no one understand that these people are political pawns? We have congress members and other politicians making promises and paying people to stoke these fires for votes. Only one side gains from this, Republicans. They would rather spend time flying immigrants to democratic run states than pass legislation or work at all.

If you immigrate to Canada, you might wanna start picking a area or city that isn’t the most expensive ones in the nation, what would you expect, many of us fellow Canadians would never even dream of moving to Toronto in the first place. Failing , that’s the right word. Canada keeps taking new immigrants ( mostly undocumented & refugees) over staying tourists. Not deporting. Lack of affordable housing/ apartments. Cost of living is too high & taxes. Minimum wage don’t match reality. Highly educated or degree holders are great & still don’t appreciate how lucky they are. No matter how successful & achieved a good job professionally when you retire, they put you back below poverty as senior. Max government pension is about $1,600 . How can you afford decently & independently to live alone. Not enough to rent a bachelor apartment. Government housing nowadays gives priorities to new / refugees / non documented immigrants than real average Canadian citizen who works hard for years. Long waiting lists for affordable housing Thank God & to myself alone , I started early & fought for my well deserved affordable housing after I retired otherwise, no way I cannot live decently as a senior like others who didn’t contribute much during their early years to the government. Give priority to our own Canadian citizen regardless of their ethnicity before giving to new undocumented immigrants. \n?❤️??

Main difference between Singapore and Canada is the latter has been trying to suppress wages of the working class effectively turning the working class into the working poor. \n\nThis, based on idiotic economic theories coming from central bank economists who think profiting private banks which produce nothing and creating a slave labor force in perpetual debt is good for the economy.\n\nIn Singapore, the govt has done the opposite. i.e. enabled purchasing power of the average citizen to rise along with standards of living. FIRE (Financial, Insurance, Real Estate) speculation prospers while the working class producing real goods and services is financially destroyed.\n\nThe real estate prices are deliberately kept high by artificially restricting supply of housing through all kinds of bureaucratic means. Its main objective is to keep people in debt and working to pay off mortgage debt. A fall in housing prices would undo a lot of the leveraged bets that depend on housing prices staying high -- as happened in 2008 in the US. Main losers of that are banks.\n\nYou can then understand why Canada keeps pushing for more and more immigrants. All pyramid schemes (in this case a debt pyramid scheme) has to expand their base or collapse. It also serves the purpose of wage suppression of the working class so they remain in debt.\n\n\nI don't understand why you came from a prosperous country like Singapore to a lower standard of living in Canada. I am an immigrant, but have lived here for over 40 years.\nI went to university here, started at entry level jobs, worked hard, and worked my my way up.\nMy income is north of $200K.\nI have found new immigrants to be more highly educated coming in and they have higher expectations and are not prepared to put in the time to move ahead.\nI am happy I moved here because Canada offers a much better environment to live than most countries in the world. \nAs far as housing affordability is concerned, this is nothing new. We had the same issue in the mid 1980s.\nMy advice is to be patient and if you have the skills, it will all fall in place eventually.

I have two words for you that explain much of the dissatisfaction....Justin Trudeau. Too many illegal immigrants with few job skills, little education and no English language skills have put a huge strain on Canada's healthcare system and on Canada's far too generous social welfare services. If you think Canada is an expensive place to live, why don't you go to Japan, Scandinavia or western Europe? They're welcome to you. During the pandemic, there were many programs and subsidies available. I even wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding the CEBA program for businesses, suggesting some changes to the eligibility criteria. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. Crime rates are low, and I've experienced little racism, possibly due to my fluency in French. Starting a business here has been easy, with minimal costs and bureaucracy.\n\nAs a gay man, I've never felt endangered. I can comfortably express affection for my spouse in public without feeling judged.\n\nHealthcare, including access to medication and doctor consultations, is extremely affordable. Super Clinics offer next-day appointments at no cost.\n\nI own a commercial condo for my business, which cost significantly less than it would have in Toronto or Vancouver. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment is CAD 755, and electricity bills are remarkably low.\n\nWith the shift to online business, I've accessed international markets while benefiting from a low-cost, safe environment. I received a CAD 2400 subsidy from the Canada Digital Adoption Program, among other government-funded programs, to expand internationally.\n\nAlthough homelessness exists in Quebec City, many supportive programs are available, and most homeless individuals here are polite, likely because they face less stigma.\n\nI believe it's crucial to explore different locations when moving to Canada. Many smaller cities offer great opportunities, which works to my advantage.\n\nRegarding the judiciary system, it's not perfect but feels less biased compared to the Supreme Court of the United States, such as in cases like Roe v. Wade.\n\nMy advice to immigrants is to learn the local language fluently for effective communication. Utilize all available federal and provincial tools, like legal aid, and don't hesitate to contact your MP. In my experience, they've been very helpful.\n\nAll the best, Febby!

Since the liberals with the leadership of Justin Trudeau took over, 10 years ago, in the federal government, Canada has become a pathetic place to live. Socialism has destroyed the entrepreneurial spirit. Taxes are very high and professional immigrants can not practice their occupation since it is not recognized by the government. The government prints money and gives generous handouts to those that don’t work with the result that the debt has reached uncharted territories and the Canadian dollar has lost more than 35% of its value against the U.S. dollar. Healthcare is horrible since you have to wait for months to see a medical professional or have an operation. The country is run by monopolies and oligopolies in banking, and telecommunications. To buy or rent a house is extremely expensive. Finally the winters are long and cold and when you see the sun you feel is a real treat!

This is so odd for me because I am having a similar experience, but in the opposite. I live in a small town in Michigan, USA that is very Christian, conservative, and republican. It's very much a place that I want to leave (so maybe in that way we are similar?), but most of my family lives here so it's difficult. I crave a sense of community where I can be surrounded by like-minded people. There is a feeling of division, one that I think is amplified by social media. I don't want to add to that separation, but it seems like there's a hard line in the sand and you're on one side or the other. \n I could never move away from my home country! It's so weird watching other people do it, and it makes me think about the people who stayed during mass exodus in, for example, Scotland. It's like, I share ancestry with Scottish people, but they don't have an immigrant-based background. Ya'll stayed? How does that work?? And here I am, staying. Does that make sense?

Immigration is not for everyone. If you are coming to chill, you won't survive lol. U gotta work 10x harder than everyone if u want to survive. Even then. Maybe not enough.

Let's be true on this once they enter and start receiving all social programs, including food , medical, and government housing, their desire to work will disappear. It will all be at the expense of all of us taxpayers.\nThis was done so that the democratic socialist communist party can stay in power with the new illegal immigrant voters . Listen up, all you socialist democratic communist these people you let in are not the cream of the crop from their countries they don't vote in their countries, and they will not vote for you here .

Why don't you demand that Congress fix this problem? Where are the nation's problems solved? Isn't it in Congress? What if Congress carries out immigration reform and changes the laws so that no one comes illegally and creates a program similar to Canada's? Do they think we are all idiots who don't know how things work? The fault lies with both parties in turn.

It's too late for me. My children are all adults now. I wish i had the means to move to Muslim country when they were younger. As the first generation of my family who immigrated to Canada, I am worried about the next generations.\nGood luck to your family. It's not going to be easy. However, if you put your trust in Allah with a lot of patience in sha Allah, everything will work out.

Immigrants are being lied to and mislead into coming here for the agenda to destroy the country. Not enough housing work food etc for the people already here. You want to be in for the fight of your life Canada is the place

Immigrants have contributed to making Canadian products and real estate expensive and have changed the image and carbon footprint of Canada to be what they want it to be. Thus, I as a natural born Canadian cannot relate to this country anymore. Too many corrupt politicians \ntoo much BS and no more democracy as we are now a totalitarian country. We subsidize immigrants at the expense of natural Canadians and deprive true Canadians from working by giving jobs to immigrants at a discounted rates for employers. Can anyone say job discrimination. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...i did not pay taxes all my life for immigrants to benefit from our system.
