I'm Canadian too, born and raised, and I have to say this is accurate. Shit health care, insane taxes, low pay, impossible cost of living.... I live in a rural town now (used to live in a city!!) and even here it's becoming unbearable. Genuinely thinking of changing countries in the next 5 years once I get my act together.\n\nThe video also didn't address the political problem. Only 3 serious parties (the rest are niche and don't address Canada properly as a whole), and two of them partnered so you effectively have two parties. One of them has ramped up the deficit and deflected all housing problems, and the other is hellbent on private healthcare, ignoring environmentalism, and helping their rich friends. Impossible to vote for real representation.

I’m an immigrant of two years from the UK. I have to say at the time of moving due to Covid everything was expensive throughout the world and there was uncertainty in most things. Myself and my wife now have our own businesses as we found that the system here does not favour immigrants in getting the jobs Canada claims it needs to fill. The reality is the government and unions don’t want educated people to fill mid to high paying jobs and it’s impossible to get jobs in teaching, nursing, doctors etc if you are not educated here. The government wants immigrants to populate and work the low paid jobs even if they have a bachelor, mba or phd.

As a US investor in Canadian companies from Florida, I like see whats happening up there. \nThe comments seem to reflect my own fb in the US....people complaining about high prices of housing and food. This seems to be an OECD post pandemic phenomenon. \nI will say, if you can invest in your monopolies and oligopolies, you will do well. I think you could say the same for every first world countries major cities. Immigrates first consideration should be to improve their opportunities in their home country and avoid migration. \n\nFirst generation immigrants to Canada going back to the early 1900’s had a very difficult life and often only their children benefit. I came as an immigrant 25 years ago. I live in Vancouver and I'd say that social isolation is big problem here. Most of my neighbours first language is something other than English and most don't speak English at all, which makes it practically impossible to ever get to know each other in any meaningful way. The way it works out is that people then get into their own ethnic groupings and eventually their children will speak fluent English and then there is some integration. But that takes a whole generation. Canada is being swamped at the moment and just how it will all work out remains to be seen.

Canada is not a free country as they advertise .... Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. I love Canada and I love the fact its mixing so many cultures in together, but we just can't keep up at the current pace. Another thing lots of people have an issue with is the lack of diversity in the immigrants. Our services and lifestyles are being strained to the point where people are getting sick of it, put a cap on each country and only allow that cap to be broken for asylum seekers/refugees. This isn't a cultural/race issue either and people who say this shouldn't be called racist, I mean its honestly insane to call it racist when the very immigrants you bring in are making the same points.

Technically, I'm an immigrant from the US, but I came on family sponsorship. I'm a permanent resident living in a northern coastal town of about 10,000 residents with a few hundred or more camp workers at any given time. The East Indians have come in hoardes the past couple of years. Domino's opened up in town, and suddenly, there were tons more again. They've taken over several of the food chains and other businesses. Some of them are nice, but the cultural difference (not that Canada has much culture) to North America is vast. Needless to say, my wife and I are planning our escape back to the US.... and she was born here.

I had a conversation with my Uber driver last week, he was a immigrant from the middle east himself, we were both upset about people coming over here and not integrating into Canadian culture and society. He said he came here so his children could grow up in peace and prosperity, but every day he sees people trying to make Canada more like the place he left.? Canada and Australia have so much in common incl. genocidal monarchs as national heads except for the weather i.e., snow vs desert/temperate grassland. As an Aussie, I’ve lived most of my life in Australia — I was making Au$200,000/yr and my partner is an ICU nurse who made around Au$100,000/yr — and by my standards our life was average in real terms although most (ignorant) Aussies would say we had a great life. Thing is, most Aussies (and Canadians) haven’t experienced anything better whereas I have lived and worked in four countries and my partner has lived and worked in three — we appreciate good living standards and I’ve noticed that most Canadians and Aussies don’t even know what we mean when we talk about such things. Anyway we permanently moved to the US this year because I’m also American — now finally we can start a family!

There is NO DREAM in Canada. The doctors, electrical engineers, and financial professionals have Big waste of time here. A very well experienced Doctor from say India has got way more practical experience and surgery. What all they need time is to get some system training. A Dentist, ophthalmologist, heart surgeons, orthopedic and so on with small training they can be easily absorb in the system after thorough check on skills.

For sure, things are getting more tough around the world but what really surprises me is that the people who have been living for 10+ years in Canada saying that things changed in Canada. Well, of course, things will change, its changing everywhere including where you immigrated from. I have been in Canada for 5+ years now and finally am a citizen and I can tell you that where I came from is even worse in terms of inflation and affordability. People compare Canada to Dubai (where I came from) and say dumb things about the luxuries available there forgetting they can get these luxuries anywhere if they have the money. Even Dubai now, is much worse than 5-10 years ago, so take a chill pill and know what you really want in life and if the style of Dubai or Bali suits you more, then go ahead, Canada is not holding you hostage :D

Most of Canada’s was on fire these past few years, there is no affordability. They become victims in a horrible market, especially Alberta. 100% increases r criminal, in this housing crisis, we say to seniors, veterans & disabled do condos, that contributed to building this country, get literally nothing. Actually, the fact that there are so many agencies that supposedly help homeless people doesn't mean that help can be accessed so easily. In fact, there is an extreme shortage of housing in Canada and all shelters are full, mentally ill and homeless folks can not be placed in regular shelters, the right approach would be rehabilitation centers. Unfortunately, rehabilitation centers are for profit. \nSo it's hard to say what exactly they are spending those billions on.

I am glad that you mentioned politics. In my 70 years of living in Canada, we have had some previous bad governments but i will say that this government is the worst of the worst. When thankfully this government is gone, there still will be some hard times because this present government has dug us into such a deep hole that it will take time to dig us out.

Canada does have a decent education system, especially community colleges that prepare students for careers in Business, Engineering, Computer Programming, and so many more. If you stay or leave, be sure to graduate & get that piece of paper that says you can do a certain job. Thanks

I am one of those after and 33 years in Canada .I am 70 years old and still working to make living. Last week I watched our government meeting. They want to help Canadian citizens help with heating expenses with heat pump. Just think how long will be to install to each house heat pump? ( first cost and Canadian climate no works anyway)No one this people didn’t say we are oil country just built refinery and make heating cheaper. On thanksgiving I was sick and go to the emergency in Winchester hospital and after 2 hours waiting the nurse told me today is waiting time to see doctors is 12 hours and I went home. My daughter went their in Winters for study and came back within 2 months. She find canada not worth living due to various difficulties she faced. Again I cannot say its a good or bad country. It always depend many factors.

Bro, I don't doubt your experience but you are definitely an anomaly, aka an exception as you are saying that you are here in Canada living the good life. So many West Africans in Toronto are working with InstaCard, Door Dash and doing Uber and Lyft. It is called the GIG economy. You are not in a stable job. The living standard is high in Canada, meaning even the poorest has access to a quality life through the Social Services govt system. Maybe you think that is living the good life equivalent or on par with a person of European ancestry who is at least 3rd generation Canadian and in over 75% of the cases have had a transference of Generational wealth.

Like you, I know someone happy with their job, location, medical care and opportunities, but they are also very uncomfortable with the political situation - I'll just say it - Republicans. You need only look at Trump and its followers. Guns over lives (including kids), billionaires over poor, religion over others' freedoms (gay/trans/abortion, etc), mass spread of misinformation (Fox news, OAN, etc) and a personal selfishness and anger which was made very clear during COVID times. It makes them feel like they are walking on eggshells, at least compared to Canada where they lived before and people would look out for each other more (even if they didn't know them). They like the weather, job, opportunities, the USD buying power, and their friends, among many other things, but it just feels excessively risky to them dealing with the combinations of these things. I can completely understand why they and others might want to leave the US.
