I feel bad for many of the India people coming to Canada.\n \nThere is no clear solution if the governments don't start controlling the numbers of foreign students to be enrolled and same with the schools for hurting not just the people of the cities their in but also their own staff tend to struggle because of the lack of housing.\n\nIn my line of work, almost every single one of them should not have been on the phone for technical support, not because of a lack of education but a lack of speaking English clearly. Some of them or should I say a lot of them were promoted to supervisors. That made my father extremely upset when first he would not understand the tech rep and then to have a supervisor with the same challenge was horrendous.

Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. Our foreign born population is about 20% -Australia it’s 22% - the USA the most immigrant fearing nation around has only 13% - that’s something to strive for lady!. \n\nCanada needs immigrants and lots of them to fill positions Canadian borns are too posh to do. \n\nWorld wide interest rates are high, housing developers are running into delays with things like world wide shortages and local communities having long convoluted permit processes, and volatile prices for home construction materials etc. \n\nWe Canadians are happy to buy from Chinese and USA manufacturers to the point we depend yet again on global markets. \n\nThe bottom line is the Provinces have authority over housing and haven’t wanted the Federal Government to butt in at all. It’s something that we have CMHC for mortgages and assistance to developers - but where are the developers? Not enough profit these days is there. \n\nI think we the people have failed in many ways. We need a scape goat and Trudeau is a very handy target. \n\nCanadians aren’t interested in repopulating by having more than one or two kids and so in order to sustain our economy and fill positions where do people think skilled and unskilled workers are coming from. Apparently being a nurse for example is not an occupation our children want nor do they want to clean toilets or work at Walmart or 7-Eleven. \n\nWe love shopping at Walmart with all its cheap Chinese goods and refuse to shop local businesses. \nWe get what we deserve. Yup, blame it on Trudeau! \n\nHa ha As if the Conservatives will do better! That’s the biggest joke of all

Our housing crisis is caused by the governments of Canada\n 1st they started obstructing the building of new houses with these massive years long processes to get the permits\n Some cases 5 to7 years\n The development permit to build a development cost more than it does to build the buildings.\n At the same time they have been bringing in a million people a year.\nWhile this government and all of the other governments for the last 40 years have obstructed industry from getting permits to build anything.\n The middle class is all but gone in Canada and no sign of it to return because you can't do anything you're not allowed to do anything.\nCanada historically had no real homeless population and had the strongest middle class today we have near 500,000 homeless.\nOr you could say about 3% of the population.

We are wealthy, have amazing land mass, a high standard of living, with many many many races and ethnicities.... I just love this place. Sure, governments are often lazy and stupid. As a hindi speaking Indian I.T. professional, I don't understand why Punjabis, Gujaratis, and Tamil Indians are always dying to move to Canada? I lived in Canada and didn't find Canada all that great. I'd say America is a far better country than Canada. I guess it's mostly blue collar immigrants who are desperate to move to Canada, live with 6+ adults and don't mind dealing with racist disrespectful Canadians. They knew WELL in advance that accepting too many immigrants, and not building a matching number of dwellings for them would cause housing shortages and push up prices greatly. Last year in 2023, many Africans came to Canada ?? as a visiting tourist and end up claiming asylum. Most of them were sleeping on the streets of Toronto because there were not enough beds available in the shelter to accommodate them. I remembered that one African die sleeping on the street. So, the government is trying to prevent this type of situation

I live in Bangladesh. If I want private healthcare, I can book an appointment today and possibly see the doctor this evening for $5-$7 per session. The really really good doctors? The professor / vip level ones? $10-$15.\nIf I need to do tests, I'll get em done the same day and probably get the results the day after.\n\nThe government ones? ¢10 but then I would be standing in a line for like 2 hours.\nIn my hometown alone there are 35-40 private hospitals. It's a suburb-ish kinda town. There is also one semi-giant 500 bed government hospital. Most services are free there except AC cabins.\n\nI personally don't wish to go to Canada.

Canada Immigration used to be so competitive 16 years ago. The cause of this mass immigration is the current government who granted visa to developing countries knowingly the fees are not affordable still visa was granted for a cheap labor.People move around seeking better quality of life. The charm of Canada was Health Care, Education. sixteen years ago I had seen my immigrants, and student who came to Canada for grad studies. The situation is not the fault of the students or the Indian students. It's solely the fault of the Canadian government because no Indian student can come to Canada without a student visa. They are accepting so many students only for financial gain. This is a result of corruption. But unfortunately, all the hate will go towards Indian students even when it's the government's fault. Many students have been misled by Canadian colleges, they have invested a significant amount of money and contributed to the Canadian economy, only to find themselves unable to secure employment. As a result, they are left with no choice but to return to India and confront their families and communities. This is a major factor contributing to the high number of students returning to India in unfortunate circumstances even suicide.

Im an Indian from the state of Kerala. In my class from college nearly 20 of them came to study in Canada. Believe me these people who come are not that academically good the fun fact is that the academically brighter ones never went abroad all of them got a decent job in India itself.. I'm not saying that all of them coming are trash my ex gf now in Hamilton was extremely bright and got a decent job there..the basic issue is that Canadian government must have strict standards for foreign students Australia has it. When I first immigrated to Canada, it seems that government`s filter on who should be moved to here was more selected and moreover, ppl really wanted to absorve and appreciate Canada`s culture whereas now, I see more and more new immigrants imposing their own culture here. It`s been 2 years that I`ve been seen news about cars being robbed, and in small cities, ppl being stabbed until death in the subways where you didn't even thought about this kind of situation here in Canada. Hi True North, I'm from India not in Canada ?. if they were promised to give PGWP after course completion and they received that and now they are asking for further extension then yes send them back. But if the PGWP was not even granted to them in the first place then it's a scam, the Canadian government has to give what was promised. They contributed to your economy in dollars (which is not easy if someone is coming from India) they deserve to earn in dollars as well. Also, some students took loans as well . However, I understand Canadian citizens' frustration too but it was the Canadian government's mistake when they invited immigrants just for the sake of money.

Literally in the graph you showed immigration was relatively the same under Trudeau and Harper until post-COVID\n\nThe immigration was a necessary measure taken to sustain Canada's GDP. This is why you don't see Pierre Poilievre claim that he will limit immigration because it was critical to do so for the economy\n\nWhether it was Trudeau, Harper or Poilievre as Prime Minister in the last 3 years, the government would have taken the same stance on increasing immigration. The thing is, the employers of Canada do not really need immigrants. The government entities however need more taxable warm bodies and more outside financial resources, hence the misadvertisement “we will welcome you with the open arms”.
