I think that's one of the largest problems in the United States. To be a real estate developer or landlord, I want to make good money.\n\nIf the cost of the 20 building complex costs me $125 million, I will set the majority of those to elegance and people willing to pay for that. But it seems quite greedy to charge exorbant rents and continue having that cost go up every year.\n\nIf mortgages in a median area are $2500, let me set the rent to maybe $1500 to $1800. But that's not the case!\n\nRenting, the cost of the apartment NEVER caps off! To think that I'm renting a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment at $1875, but no in-house laundry, no dishwasher, but I'm paying for water, gas, extra fees is insane! \n\nAnd these owners wonder why people try to kill them.

This was a really cool episode. I'm a born and raised Canadian, but my friends and my fiancé are all from the USA, so I've got a firsthand look at the differences in our cultures and countries.\n\nOne thing I'll say right off the bat, I think a big part of what makes Canada work the way it does, is that we have such a small population compared to the USA.\n\nCanada only has around 35 million people, but there are some states in the USA that have over 40 Million people on their own. \n\nWhen you have that many people crammed together in one location, all fighting for jobs and housing and food and everything, it makes sense why you might have a culture that's a lot louder and self serving, because you have to compete with millions of people if you really want to make something of yourself.\n\nMy hometown of Edmonton Alberta, for example, we had a population of just 500,000. And I think the laid back attitude that a lot of people have in Canada is a product of that. \n\nThat's a big reason our crime levels would appear lower as well, because there's just a lot less of us.

Something about me is I'm HORRIBLE at starting conversation, call it introvert or socially awkward, it makes it hard to interact. So in places like say Texas, it's a huge uplift for people to genuinely be friendly and WANT to strike up a conversation with you, Texas hospitality is not dead like some claim.

America is good for money. It is a capitalist society and everything runs on money- the people, the food, parking, breathing lol. But it doesn’t always provide a great life balance to the point where people don’t prioritize their health and wellness because they simply can’t afford to. Like literally. Without money you will die in a health institute here because they will not treat you without money. You can buy any and everything here- it’s all for sale. Personally I’m a wrench and I don’t subscribe to American society. I was born and raised here and it always felt wrong the way things work here, the way people are. I have said some negative things and felt some negative things about Indians and I'm big enough to admit that, because at the same time I couldn't help but to get amused by scambaiting. Therein and from a apparent stoking of hatred and animosity these days I've been seeking to better understand the true sentiments and circumstances of Indians, and where the so called bad bed side manner comes from. I say this because a lot of people I've spoken too find Indians rude, and I can see why, if I were exploited, how would I feel. We are all human and I hate to see peoples dreams and or weakness exploited.

The Federal government needs to investigate this ... I'm also sure that there is some law that is being broken. Next I want people from India to take note that the Liberals/NDP does not care about your struggle but just your vote.

This is why Canada wants all the immigrants to come work here so they can drain all their income in taxes to pay for all the old people draining the system. They need workers at low paying jobs to work double hrs. paying double taxes to pay for senior's health care etc. They are also consumers who will have to spend what's left of their pay cheques to just feed and clothe themselves. Leaving so little left to actually do anything with. As a 5th generation Canadian I have struggled all my life to just keep food and home to live and raise my kids on very little. Now due to what has happened in Canada and the economy, inflation, skyrocketing housing prices, my kids will never be able to own a home in their own country. It's sickening. Canada is cold. Canada is not fun. Least fun because of all the rules on everything. Taxes and fees on everything. There used to be much more fun and things were much more relaxed in the 70's and 80's but now it has changed so much that I'm starting to hate my own Country, my province and the Canadian leadership at this time is the worst in history. And get this: I'm so poor I couldn't even afford to move around or travel in my own damned country! We don't even have a universal transit bus system to travel anymore. YOu have to have a car or fly but be damned if you can hop the old Greyhound and go from Vancouver to Toronto anymore and save a few bucks. It's sick and dysfunctional here.

Great video - it's true my family came here 20 years ago and I'm greateful but it certainly is expensive. \n\nThe type of employment you have makes a big difference - I'm a big fan of people applying for government to take advantage of the benefits - especially at retirement - and then having a side hustle. \n\nI'm looking to help people set themselves up for the long term and being a position to afford cost of living and comfortably raising a family in Canada. I moved from the US to Canada 3 years ago. I lived in the US all of my life. You wait 8 or more hours in the emergency room in the US. I have a great job and I'm paid more in canada than the US for my exact job.I make 6 figures in canada. I also have a small business that brings in additional income. I have a great account also. Great opportunities in Canada. In US you pay taxes and its also alot. I was able to buy a home easily in Canada within 3 years. My phone plan is cheap and i have US line as well. 50 bucks a month. I moved to Edmonton AB. People who live in Toronto like to compare it as if its the rest of Canada. Compare Toronto to New York city.

You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Quebec has some of the best food on the North American continent, we have clean air and lots of water in Canada - I'm very happy here, so don't be so negative please!

ok as a torontonian who currently lives in alberta, i do gotta say that this is true. alberta does have one of the best education systems, but although it's like that due to the oil, the people where i'm living near, (don't know about edmontonians) are complete freaking lunatics'.

Québec would be my number 1 too. In smaller towns and regions you can get very good houses for less than $250k. The old historic cities of montreal and quebec are breath-taking and it just feels really nice and cozy to live basically anywhere in the province. There are tons of jobs too and we have cold winters but also nice warm summers and beautiful autumns. The food is great because we get fresh local/regional products from fertile fields. Eating seasonal is the best. And it’s so goddamn safe. In the small town where I grew up, we never locked our doors. Never been robbed. And we’re party people too! Bars close alot later than in other places like Ontario, and people here really love soirées and microbreweries. I’m grateful everyday that I was born in a place where it feels so good to live.

I want to move from us to Canada, mean reason the immigration is broken in usa for Indian and I don’t want my Indian born kid to face same uncertainty . We are earning in upward of 500k and have to take massive pay cut. After reading the comments and watching videos. I’m getting so confuse. We are well aware who's in the Canadian government and why they're doing such a tremendous job of destroying this country. We saw what they did to our truckers and what they're doing to the farmers in the Netherlands. My question, and I know I'm gonna get eaten alive, is why so many Indians? What about people from the rest of the world? Canada feels like India these days. I would like to see more diversity. Also, Canada needs to do better about making sure there's more diversity in its numbers. Also, Canada needs to ensure colleges don't charge so much more. Afterall, we who eventually get PR will be paying taxes too (which is the rationale given for why local students pay less).

I live in a small town in Ontario with not many immigrants. I always hear people in the media or politics talking about minority groups and wonder if people from other places feel set apart. I find it a real challenge mentally to not think about it if I see someone who looks different from me…. Like it weighs on my mind, but meanwhile I just want to treat people the same… I think everyone who comes to Canada legally should feel like a part of the country. I’m tired of identity politics that separates more than brings together. I’m a Filipina living in New York for decades and had been all over Canada in the past for vacation… my bf’s mother is Canadian Scottish and now living in New York as well. My bf has still have aunts and cousins in Vancouver and believe you me they are the most racist stuck up people… ugggh can’t stand them! You take care ladies!

I was born in Montreal and lived there for 64 years. I'm fluently bilingual. I speak English and French. My mother was French and my father was English. I was educated in English. Because of my work, I had travelled extensively and often throughout all of Canada and had seen it all except for Nunavut and the NorthWest Territories. Having stated that, I couldn't wait to get out of Quebec. Starting in the early 70's, I couldn't stand living in Quebec but I tolerated it because I was doing well financially and it didn't make sense to relocate. The Quebec government introduced stupid and restrictive language laws back then. That drove a lot of business and English-speaking people out of the province. There was a real economic decline in that province that lasted many years but luckily hadn't affected my business. Most of the people that left Montreal moved to Toronto. Toronto benefitted from that exodus as they became the financial capital of Canada. I have resided in BC's Okanagan Valley for the last 7 years. It's the best move I've ever made. I have never regretted moving here. This is by far, the #1 province in Canada.

Well, I guess that most families from Asian counties live together and share space so they will be able to afford homes. I guess that we should educate Canadians that they should not expect to be able to afford rent or owning a home unless you stay with your family and all live together. See, problem solved. Change your expectations and way of life to accommodate a government that prefers to have expansion and growth at all costs instead of fixing our current problems. They have created so much debt and continue to so they need more bodies to tax in order to pay the debt so that they can take on more debt... and they want it from citizens because they can't get it from corporations and their record profits because the corporations bribe them... sorry, lobby them with 100s of millions of dollars.\n\nSo emigration is obviously the solution. You need 9 people living in a 3 br house all working for minimum wage in order to afford it.. and that seems to be the jobs that are available? If you are educated and have skills I'm not sure that those jobs are out there? Or they are for a while, then gas prices go down and the corporations fire everyone and then things change and then they complain that they can't find anyone while paying less than they did before they fired everyone... But remember, corporations create jobs so we shouldn't tax them.

Wow reading many of the comments makes me think 'yikes'. Too many people see immigrants as creating a bigger problem (and cannot see how they are the solution). I'm reading the exact argument that was made all through out Canada's history, yet it is the immigrants that brought in fresh ideas and foreign investment. And Canada has been a shining success because of our immigrants. You'd think that people would realize this by now.

As someone who was an international student in Canada, failed and came back, I’m surprised to see this. What were these people expecting? If you can’t afford to send your child to an international college, don’t do it. If you have to take a loan and put everything you have at risk. If your kids are supposed to work to cover their expenses. How tf is a teenager supposed to work AND study at the same time, living in a foreign country alone, having no one close. It’s the families responsibility to do their research, what does the country has to do with poor financial decisions of a certain group of people? I watched the first 9 minutes only, though.

I know that the actions seen out here in the video is kind of an extrem, but I believe whatever measures were taken it was for the welfare of keeping everybody safe in which my Sikh brother had no bad intentions but it was all an honest mistake.  According to my understanding he could've worn the Kripan under his T-shirt.. no disrespect to nobody but I'm here with all my Love and Respect to all.. \nAnd He being out of India.. people might have heard or know about Sikhism but respectively being in a totally different country it'll be a cultural shock to some of its fellow country's residents and that too he is in an educational environment or zone where a lot of unfortunate events had occur in the past few years due to violence.. so taking these reasons and unfortunate incidents under consideration.. our dear Sikh brother did not do anything wrong in openly carrying a Kripan (knife) for it is his cultural right and had gone some kind of a rituals in order to carry a Kripan for self-defense. But people will still feel some kind of uneasiness when it comes to weapons seen in and around educational area or zones. \nSo whatever measures had been taken for the safty of all.. especially by the security as he was doing his job by understanding the situation. No heard feeling to nobody but I just wanted to get my point across regarding this incident. N I know my Sikh brothers n sisters will definitely come to an agreement of understanding in what I'm trying to say..

Okay people, correct me if I'm wrong. Though arresting him is an extreme step, I just think it's not necessary to wear a Kirapani to uni. If it is an cultural event, then you can make a point about the police and uni bieng insensetive. But I see no reason to wear one in a normal day. Whe you're in a different country, the responsibility is yours to know or find out what the laws of the land are. You cannot expect a whole nation of others to suddenly become educated about your religious practices and make way for you . If they do, that great, but it's not their responsibility. Also, having a weapon on you in an environment where others don't will put them at unease and also give you the advantage over them, in case of an altercation. How do they know if you are mentally sane or not and that you will not suddenly use it on them. Most Sikhs are wonderful and very caring people and I'm even sitting with one as I write this, but it's best we keep our religious practices to ourselves and not be in anyone's face with it, especially in a country where people are not so aware of other cultures. If he had to wear it for religious purposes, its his responsibility to have informed the university( which he may have) , but also to insist that they inform everyone else and the police of it, so as to not raise any tensions.

I live in Toronto (born and raised) and I’m moving to Costa Rica in the new year. This video is interesting to me because these are all things I truly agree with but have never given any real thought to as negatives about Canada. I usually get quite defensive when people try to compare to the states and call us (Toronto in particular) less then American cities. I think that’s more so linked to my love for the raptors though ?
