Dont blame Trump for all this. Blame President Lincoln, Wilson, Taft for creating taxes. Roosevelt for enacting a bill into law for charging taxes to the American people for social security, Reagan for shutting down factories in US & leaving US to foreign Countries for cheaper cost. Bush, Obama, Biden for bad foreign trading policies & bad spending usage, budgeting of our tax payers money that put US in dept by the trillions. These past Presidents were running our Country into the ground at our expense. President Trump is getting back our Country out of Debt. Alot of reforms needs to happen. Decrease taxes on everything, make startup business easy to survive & sustain. Enact bills into laws to control all Corporations from overpricing their goods to consumers. Lower all consumer goods. Give tax breaks to all business. Taxes should come from other Countries & zero from the American peoples pockets, end to taxing the American people. ✊️

My country has been to dependent on US we in asia should also find other partners in europe. japan, south korea, singapore, philippines and taiwan we are all dependent on US if trump continues this we will also be affected. Its time to partner with other countries other than US.

Consequences? I think Canadians are suffering the consequences of failed leadership just as we have here in the US. With the election of Donald Trump it's perfectly clear that the policies have changed here in the US. I wouldn't be too worried about the future of either countries at this stage. I predict by this time next year there we still be lights in my home, gas in my car, food on my table, and love in my heart for my Canadian brothers and sisters to the north. Future looks Bright! :)

Canada and the US used to share a warm relationship. Living close to Canada, our girls hockey teams frequently play the Canadian girls. Over the past 5+ years, the behavior of the Canadian girls changed from competitive, but decent, to vicious, laced with insults and injury. We no longer want to play them because you can predict a concussion suffered every fifth game or so. Trump's unfriendly actions will be met with equally unfriendly actions from Canada to the detriment of both.

It’s blatantly obvious what’s happening next, big tariffs on the EU and NATO will be reducing/eliminated. \nThe US has accepted the reality that it is no longer has global hegemony, therefore some of these actions are logical if painful. The EU should have control of its own defence, it is ridiculous that it doesn’t as it is sufficiently wealthy to do so with ease. Further EU integration has become almost essential or the EU states will start fighting each other again. Trump is actually helping the EU to grow up.

Make America Pay More Again! As disruptive and asinine as Trump's economic schemes may be, it's sadly necessary that AMERICANS (we are often a very self-centered and blissfully uninformed people) feel the consequences of their vote as soon as possible. Trump doesn't accept calls from Canada ofc because this is not about border security nor the 1% fentanyl going into the US. It is about being hawkish and potentially annexation of Canada in the far future. \nThese tariffs make way more sense against Mexico, considering the amount of border issues and fentanyl infiltrating in the US, but tariffs against Canada is just BS.

A lot of us Americans remember learning about the tariff wars in history class that ended up in deciding fair trade was the better route. I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. Dumb move, Trudeau. Trump doesn't fear measured responses; he's not a normal person. He only understands if you hit him back much harder than he hits you. \nCanada should NOT impose retaliatory counter tariffs that harm CANADIANS (Or do like China and impose 75% Tariffs on US items Canada can easily buy elsewhere). Rather, Canada should shut the OIL spigot and cancel electric feeds into the USA. RIGHT NOW. THAT would have the required effect and NOT HARM Canadians.

The US has a trade deficit around $1 TRILLION. So, this isn't anything personal against Canada; I think Trump wants to impose tariffs on ALL imports to encourage domestic manufacturing and flip the trade deficit. He's just using situations of importance to also gain political leverage.

Issue is China. Rather than Punishing China, Trump got mad at the number shown. Infact all countries must impose 100% tariff on china. Atleast US, Canada, EU must cooperate between themselves to impose them on china. Any Product made in china must carry 100% tariff until china floats its currency.
