A lot of these are rich country problems. Which is why we get such a huge number of immigrants from developing countries. Ans almost none from developing ones. Only about 10,000 a year from the USA compared to over 300,000 a year from developing ones. But while I returned to Canada before I retired to care for my elderly mother, I had been approved for a green card in the USA. I lived in LA for 10 years. But my very low out of pocket cost of medical care still makes Canada attractive to me. \n\nBut my kid who was 13 when I moved to the USA, stayed there when I returned to Canada. They have had a green card for 11 years and is soon to become a US citizen. They and their spouse would like to move to Canada but simply cannot make anything like a similar net income in Canada. \n\nBut the housing crisis here is very real for many people.

Many recent immigrants I have known have left Canada because the cost of living is too high. From my experience they work very hard, usually working 60+ hours a week. After some time they crunch the numbers and realize no matter how hard they try they will not get anywhere so they leave. For those born in Canada we find ourselves being chased out of our hometowns because it is too expensive to live there. For myself it was either stay in Vancouver, surrendering more than half of your income to rent or move out of the city to buy an apartment. In the major cities there is a mass exodus of young people and the strategy has been to replace that exodus with immigration. The problem is that is not sustainable as now new immigrants, seeking a better life are not finding it in major Canadian cities. For those who already own property in the lower mainland the selfish mentality is to do whatever you can to deny construction, thus maintaining the scarcity and value of what little land/housing there is in desirable areas. Zoning laws are beginning to change but progress is slow and municipalities have failed to keep up with infrastructure so the growing pains is going to be immense. It's beautiful here now doubt but if I had no ties and a solid financial footing I would have left long ago. Generations ago you could show up to Canada with no money and thrive if you were willing to work hard. Now hard work won't get you anything.

The sad part really is canadians born and raised here can't afford to have children due to the cost of living and our government's answer is to bring immigrants here under false pretenses and make up the numbers that way our country has been a joke for years but thx to Trudeau and sing its totally screwed and as a single person working 70 hours a week just to pay the rent maybe if lucky a little bit of food knowing that i have to work until im 70 for a retirement pension that cant even pay my rent sickens me knowing that I most likely will be living out of a tent just to servive in my own country that is the new Canadian dream in reality

Reason number 10 you should've added is Culture. Many immigrants that come here do not get used to the Canadian culture and get homesickness, especially if they leave family behind. And especially for Asian and Middle Eastern people, Culture and Family is everything, so they go back to their home country for that. Now, especially with this LGBTQ+ agenda in schools and Liberal influence, many immigrant parents are not happy about it, and that's why they leave Canada. So Culture is such an important factor, which I think should've been the 2nd biggest factor after the 1st factor being the high cost of living.

Canada is not a free country as they advertise .... There are a lot of socialist behaviors by the government to control what you say and do. taxes are high, with many layers of tax on tax on tax then user fees for most things. Not sure what will become of this place with 3% of the population -> 1.2 million new people in Canada this year alone and plans to keep increasing that number. Canada will not be what it is today it will be something else similar to the mass migration waves into Canada 100 years ago.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. There are essentially two major problems when discussing this issue. First and foremost, it is VERY difficult for anyone to even attempt to bring up an intelligent argument because they are instantly branded a racist, so many people just keep quiet, which is not healthy in a democracy. Secondly, when examining the world as it is today, the inescapable fact is that the nations with a high standard of living and a truly democratic system simply cannot sustain the rest of the globe!! Why does Canada need Immigration? The Gap between Canadians who are retiring and those who are in the workforce (and hence are paying taxes) or are supposed to enter is increasing. There are more Canadians retiring than those working. Result? The Canadian government has less tax revenue (and perhaps more expenditure as a result of Increased pensions etc.). So now, either the government has to Increase Taxes (More taxes? Hell no!!) or bring in New Immigrants to increase the tax-paying workforce of the Canadian Economy. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. Bike lanes are everywhere and there are not much bikers during the Winter months (something like 8 to 9 months) and summer months I saw few here and there. Rents are totally beyond many peoples affordability. Foods prices are freaking crazy. Reason why this is happening? You have to thank the current idiotic-leftard government under Trutard leadership in Canada. This is thanks to his carbon taxes BS initiative causing high cost in fuel and resulting in major inflations in high food prices, rentals, etc. How can you help refugees and immigrants while Canadians can't even afford to live in Toronto, etc. You need to take care of Canadian first and foremost. Taking in 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees each year isn't going to be help Canada to get this mess we are in. Lower number like 150-200 thousands of new immigrants | refugees is feasible but NOT 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees.

The problem is not the number of immigrants and foreign workers.. it's where all of them want to go.. Vancouver and Toronto. How about bringing them to the under populated cities and towns in Canada to help those cities and towns? In Toronto, you see South Asians driving cars with Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia plates but they're living here.. It only goes down from here! Born and raised in Canada.... Been complaining how downhill the country has gone since I was a teenager (I'm in my 30s now). I avoid going to the hospital. For 2+ years, they still can't figure out why I can't see out of one eye lol. Probably have like 16 pages in my OHIP record. Also my FIL died cuz the hospital sucked. Want to get a pap smear check? It only takes 6 months to get an appointment and you need a referral from your family doc... Not that everyone has one. I'm actually worried for the day when my doc retires... I'll be famlly doctorless. Probably have to go through the walk in clinic system where they don't know you or bother to get to you know. You're just a number.
