Correction if you have a PAL you can own restricted firearms i.e. handguns in Canada. I think gun control doesnt help canadians because most criminals obtain them illegally from the US. Meanwhile crime is going up in our major cities, especially car thefts and home invasions & we dont have laws to use self-defense to protect our homes, and the police wnats us to hand over our car keys to thiefs in contrasts to some US states where you can kill a tresspasser and not go to jail.

No person in his sane state of mind will ever consider to move to Canada now! I moved here 22 yrs back through the immigration point system and I'm desperately planning to get the hell outta here. Trudeau and his corrupt policies has destroyed the Canada that I loved till a few years back. All he cares about is filling his Voter bank and has brought in so many refugees that cannot be housed unless he taxes the average Canadian. Crime in public places, drug use on the streets, Car thefts..........I can go on and on! @Pierre Poilievre is probably the only Savior...who knows?

Generally, Canadian people like immigrants in our country. The problem is economic. With AI and robotics threatening to steal people's jobs, our continued high immigration rate will help to depress wages for both native Canadians and immigrants. Poverty rates will likely go up. The current federal government needs to come up with a better economic plan to prevent these things from happening.

The problem is not with immigrants, it is with the government's poor planning. The housing crisis began well before the recent uptick in immigration, and both major political parties are responsible for it. They under-invested in social housing and did not give enough tax incentives for developers to build new housing. They did this on purpose because the housing market was seen as the place where homeowners could build massive equity, and they did. For many years, Canadians were very pleased with this state of affairs. About a decade ago stories were running everywhere that the Canadian middle class was larger and wealthier than the American middle class. This was almost entirely due to the equity established in housing. But the prices just kept going up and up, there was not enough new housing built (on purpose, to maintain the value of Canadian real estate), and the economy needed new immigrants to fill thousands of jobs and to keep funding the health care system and other social benefits. So now we have a housing crunch, where even Canadians who own homes cannot sell them because they have nowhere to move to (everything around them is just as expensive), immigrants can't find housing, and the health care system is overloaded. It's a proper mess, but it's not as simple as saying the problem is with too many immigrants.

Why everyone is blaming the government when its clearly the college owners making false promisses and trying to shove in as many students for 5 times the regular fees in their makeshift universities as fast as possible without building them housing and puting naive people in everlasting debt because they graduated way more people than the job market could acomodate for that course?\n\nHonestly us high time Canadians start taking large corporations acountable for how they affect the economy, I say if you need more housing make them pay for it or they are not getting any more students, also limit the amount of college positions to the amount of actual job openings and a lot less people are going into college debt traps.

Canadian born citizen here. I am almost done my degree. Once I'm done well I have been saving up for tuition well before starting university so I will pay that in cash and then head out to perhaps the states. I get it that they have the same issues as us but there is definitely room for improvement. You can't progress in Canada like you can in America. The most you will make in Canada is what you are paid for a few years of experience in America. Have several years of experience? You will make double. It's sad to see what it has become but if no decisions are made on the federal level most will have no choice but to go somewhere else.\n\nEdit: I also have family in America that will allow me to stay with them until I get settled as well. I may receive a lot of criticism for my opinion, but I feel compelled to share my experience as a resident and worker in this country. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2022 and have since been living and working in Winnipeg. This country has offered me numerous opportunities, even though I do not hold high-ranking positions. My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

Canada is a joke now, trying so hard to be a 51st state. We've got all the crime and all the tent cities to compete with the very greatest American cities. Our tiny little towns now have homeless folks and I fear the day I become homeless.\n\nWe've lost our honour. We've sold out to corporations. We're intentionally pushing people out of their homes so the rich may get richer. And our Cuban PM, Justin Castro, is alright with it. He's also happy providing immigrants with subsidized housing while born-and-bred Canadians suffer. Heck, 'everyday young people' in their 20s can't even envision owning a home unless they come from a wealthy family or their parents die and leave the family home to them. They're better off buying an RV but even those cost what a house SHOULD cost.\n\nThis is not the Canada I was born in. It's a total effing disaster. The only saving grace for me is that I brought no children into this mess and I really hope to be dead before Xmas if I don't find a job. Being as I'm a coward and my doctor won't euthanize me (I asked), I figure a hunger strike is the was to go unless I can find a high enough cliff. There's nothing in Canada to be proud of or get excited about. Nothing. No future.

I was born in Canada to a Polish immigrant mother. My mothers family came to Canada to escape the tail end of communism and seek better opportunities. I’m 22, I have a degree from a good university and I’m now living with my mother working part time at a liquor store. I was told as a teenager as long as I got a degree I’d have a job and have enough to live on my own. I was lied to. I’m currently working on getting my dual Polish-Canadian citizenship and doing a certification to go teach English in Europe. I can’t have a good life here the way prices are and the stress being in this country brings. There’s homeless encampments everywhere, even in front of my city hall. There’s a couple homeless people who sit outside the store I work at and it’s a heavy reminder I’m one argument with my mother from sitting where they are. I am constantly worried I will become homeless.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. I don't like extremists. \n\nMy problem is simply I don't our government is ethical nor caring to it's citizens, and as far as immigrants go, I am absolutely all for it with a reasonable rate without displacement or a negative sum on people that have built families here already. You can't just say we want to help and not give one thought about implications whatsoever. \n\nWhere I live you can't add thousands of people without thinking about making roards wider or more busses.\n\nWe don't look like idiots, we are. Let's welcome a host of new beautiful people into out country and not have a single plan in place besides pay for their housing (not necessarily bad), pay for their transportation (not necessarily bad), and allow a rent bubble to put our welcoming citizens with Trades to live in tents.\n\nHow about this as a sane alternative, the billions of dollars in road tax from gas prices which hasn't improved the roads, and the billions from legalized gambling...how about we audit our government and take a hard and difficult look as to where all this tax money goes, and more importantly the detailed justification? \n\nSame thing, same day. Canada has to be corrupt as the day is long OR our greatness was built on an history of lies. Take your pick.\n\nLet's hire as a people a 3rd party professional firm with oversight and give them 5 billion dollars, the amount we paid for helicopters and opted out for and still paid by backing out.\n\nThat thought alone should be brilliant enough to enlighten us all.

Dom, where are you from? Where are you moving to? What is your agenda? Are you a Canadian citizen? Where are all of the people, that you say are leaving, moving to? Where are they going that doesn’t have high interest rates? Which countries don’t have high inflation? Where has not been affected by the pandemic? Where are supply chains back to normal?

I completely agree w this man. Ive worked my ass off for 30 yrs already & even w my private health insurance thru my FT job Its still gonna cost me between 12& 15 grand to get my teeth fixed. Its life threatening & caused by a bone disease that I have no control over but the Gov't wont help pay a damn cent. There is no career progress and it is so expensive for everyone, they want you to work low level jobs, because a weird rite of passage like if speaking English was unique to Canada or the world is not trading with each other for the last 20 to 30 years . Complete stagnation in terms of economy, inflated house prices compared to similar markets like Texas, the country has been so reliant on natural resources that the job market is not competitive and an island. Funny how they want to blame immigration. Jobs are everywhere but employers know that immigrants are more disciplined, hard working and appreciative of the opportunities provided, when compared to the average Canadian-born citizen. I am a old white man born and raised in Canada...our youth born in Canada don't give a crap about us old folks...then these young men and women that come to Canada for a education and residence show up from India...and bang in an instant I am noticed...do you know why because these young adults were raised to respect their elders...they are hard workers (some holding down three part time jobs) they pau their rent...they are polite and smart...with all this said they are also humans who have a limit. I have dual citizenship. Born in Canada. I have a beautiful American mom and a French Canadian dad. I lived in Florida and Maine. Came back to Canada. I always come back to Canada. USA is awesome, but in small doses. I can see myself going back for a couple years when my kids have have all graduated. Universities and health care is more affordable in Canada. Generally, more chill and less amped up as well. lol. I love both my countries though.

Pains me so deeply. I work at a Hotel. Without going into detail, we house so many refugees from Sudan, Nigeria, Ukraine etc. completely for free. They are all lovely people for the most part don't mistake my meaning, but I seldom hear of such programs addressing widespread actual Canadian citzen homeless housing, nor have any of the refugees at my Hotel been Canadian citizens born and raised who were granted asylum. \n\nThe other day I had to kick out a homeless gentleman from my hotel who was sleeping in the heated stair-wells. My manager instructed me to contact the non-emergency police number and get them to escort him out and/or possibly trespass him. He was compliant, not rude and understanding and wasn't causing any property damage or bothering anyone, nor consuming drugs or anything of the sort. It pained my heart and it reminded me of the risks I may face in the future considering how fucked the housing is.\n\n100%, and I mean 100%, of the new employees we've hired in the Hotel are Indian students here on student-visas, or refugees (many Ukrainians and one African lady). And 0% of the people being housed at my Hotel are Canadian born citizens. Disgusting mess of a country with all thanks owing to J.T.

Getting ill causing a month long stay in the ICU left me homeless as living paycheck to paycheck causes once the cheques stop , I was placed in a Toronto homeless shelter 3 years ago and I can tell you that African refugees enter a shelter and no more than 3 weeks later are housed usually 5 at a time all Getting a fully paid market value 1 bedroom apartment average price $2,600 monthly that with a monthly welfare cheque and free food dental medical prescriptions clothing WIN WIN WIN the Canadian born homeless shelter residents get put on a 38,000 name waiting list for Ontario's drug infested housing ghettos the Africans are being housed under a kept secret program called COHB secret from us Canadian homeless that is and I've witnessed this now at 5 different shelters I've been in, having befriended one of the African migrants who is a little unstable drinking alcohol and smoking pot so he hasn't been housed but he has shown me the paper work that has been housing his fellow illegal immigrants and I say illegal because they all came as visitors only to claim asylum as soon as they land he also told me they all borrow the money for their plane tickets from a gang who once they land and start instantly getting welfare have to send half the proceeds back to this gang in Africa for the next two years , in this shelter donated clothing comes in everyday and two African shelter residents fold and sort the clothing taking all the name brand clothes what they didn't hand out to the other Africans they walk to the post office and ship it back to Africa I'm not making this shit up after we complained to staff which also happen to be made up from the Africans themselves yes they've hired wolves to watch over the other wolves so they now aren't walking out the front door everyday with garbage bags full of clothes at least not in front of our eyes DON'T CALL ME RACIST I know that's the go to word when this insanity is made public , what do you think is the first thing these Africans do when they walk into their free apartment? If I was Prime Minister. I would Ban the immigrant Visa program for the next 10 years. I would deport anyone who has overstayed there welcome (those with expired visas) or are here (illegally) and now (not documented) \n\nThat alone would take many out of the shelters, homes, rentals, streets that should not be in the Country anymore. Leaving the resources and the people who work and volunteer for those resources to help the Canadian people (which would be the prime reason for this) Canadians first ! \n\nI would cut the Carbon Tax. Lower the Property Tax. Put a cap on all Strata fees. Lower the deficit. \n\nBuild more Hospitals and treatment centers. Put a ban on drugs and safe injections (as we know there is no such thing) \n\nMake it mandatory for those in need due to drug and mental issues (that have been diagnosed with such) to go to treatment centers (while building more centre's and hiring qualified professionals workers) to stop the crisis. \n\nChange laws on crimes and the time and penalty behind them. Doubling and tripling the time served and raising bail fees by 50% to keep folks that have criminal pasts off the streets <---- for first time offenders. \n\nFor those that have multiple offenses. Quadruple the jail times and put bail amounts 100% more then what they are now. \n\nGive those that kill, ra*e, torture, (and things along that nature (the death penalty) \n\nI would remove the mandate for Electric Vehicles for Canada. Where only 1 vehicle per manufacturer would have to be Electric. So if somebody wants it. It's there but the majority would be. Gas / Diesel etc. \n\nI would build more housing / schools / retirement homes / hospitals / recreation centre's / Library and walk in Clinics. \n\nI would write a law that the roads in Canada must be fixed properly. Not just patched. \n\nI would raise the taxes on Multi Million and Billion Corporations and those that make $400.000 or more to pay a higher tax. While those that make less than $400.000 get taxed less. \n\nI would Lower the provincial taxes by 2% effective immediately and the Minimum wage across all provinces would be $17.75 an hour for full time workers (over 32 hours per week) with .25 cent yearly increases until 2030 to be reassessed. \n\nI would give Tax cuts to those who want to open businesses and build and sell Canadian Products to make sure Canadian Goods are affordable to make. Still have a profit to slow down overseas production creating more Canadian jobs for Canadian People. \n\nEvery Worker that works 24 hours or more weekly is getting Benefits making it mandatory for all types of business owners to make benefits available to the workers and ensuring the plan covers a minimum of 50% throughout the entire year. \n\nI would raise the pension to those who have worked 25+ years in Canada and remain in Canada as a retiree for a minimum of 6 months of the year 5% \n\nShrinkflation will stop. With major corporations getting fined if they don't smarten up and change the way the make and package goods. \n\nI would put a cap on Car insurance for those that have never been in an accident before and lowering the monthly cost by 10% \n\nCondo sizes would have to increase the square footages by a minimum of 10% of the national average to make sure that there is enough room and peaceful environment for those that live in those spaces. \n\nI would ban that you would have to pay additional for parking at every Rental property including lockers, that the property owners purchased during pre construction as well as lower the public parking costs nation wide in parking garages by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would Lower transit costs nation wide by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would bring back texts books and paper to schools so kids read more. Write more. Understand more. Learn more for those in grade 8 and under. \n\nI would ban every Pride event in Canada and charge people fines if they hang rainbow colored Canadian flags anywhere on any property including ban clothing with those colors on the Canadian Flags immediately. Failure to do so would also Ban same sex marriage the following year on the same date that the first ban was made if Failure to comply. \n\nI would ban any book or literature for kids that is LGQTB written. \n\n& that is just the beginning.

I just moved up north Ontario from Orangeville Ontario area and rent up here is cheap and I moved to a bush last year due to homelessness and now CMHA helped me get a place and in this small town I'm in that's falling apart, is now a meth city and it was a huge gold booming town. I got 6 meth dealers on my street lol when the snow leaves I'm back to my bush the CMHA (Canadian mental health association) bought me a 800$ generator and a 200$ rain barrel so I can go live in the trailer again so other homeless can get my apartment

When my forefathers arrived here in the late 1700’s they didn’t have all the amenities that today’s immigrants are in-tilled to.They taught two world wars and struggled through a decade of depression. Immigrants arrive expecting free healthcare, education, infrastructure ect. We had generations of struggle to make Canada the wonderful safe democracy that it is. They should be required to spend their first 5 years vs the current 3 years in Canada and not India . That man was 100% right on the money with everything he said. I've got nothing against anyone wanting a better life. However, it shouldn't be at the expense of the of our own Canadian citizens. We're taxed through the roof & that $$ should be going to us 1st.\n\n We shouldn't have homeless & hungry Canadians on the street while the immigrants reap all the benefits of the services we've paid into. Trudeau made this place look like the promise land for refugees and international students. Most of them cant afford rent now, and want to go back home. Homeless Canadians can't find enough shelters. Canada cannot make its own money. So what does it do? It has to figure out unethical ways to bring in money. This is done by bringing in immigrants. There is multiple birds with one Stone hit here. Meaning gives immigrants the lie of a better life. So they take all their money that they have in their nation. And they bring it here. That's free money that Canada did not have to work for and now other nations have lost. then they lied to them and tell them that they can get anything they want. For me to get a franchise here while owning other businesses was IMPOSSIBLE 5 yrs ago. But these guys with no credentials are getting it right away. I wasn't allowed to modify my house or rent by law. And they are now allowing all of that. My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. Telling people that they'll have a better future. That was the lie of that time. Now you want the same people to work min wage jobs. Now immigration is a bigger Money maker. They say they're bringing in these guys Because they want to work these jobs that a canadians don't want to work. That's because you just made those fake jobs by creating more immigrants to come here have franchises that need minimum wage jobs. But you also promised the rest of us that if we worked hard enough, we will get better jobs. So why would we want to resort to minimum wage jobs on top of you ruining the market for housing inflation taxes etc? How could we even afford while working Minimum wage jobs. And that's why they're bringing people in here. This goes deeper than it seems. socialism. then they get mad At us and demand more taxes and more money. But Canada is a closed system. So how can we afford giving you more than we're making? This insanity has to stop. This chaos needs to stop.
