Before Canadian create a standard for foreign people want to migrate to Canada in terms of point system which involves education and other criteria in order to process application but now people are bypassing the system to easily come to Canada it took me 3 years before my application got processed why now just on student status can start apply for a job isn’t it the main purpose was to get education not job for Canadians. It's a double edged sword. The industry (fast food, food retailing, services) WANT those people, be it international students, refugees or other to work because there is insufficient response from the local population of young people. Even certain restaurants and hotels had to remain CLOSED after the pandemic, because they could not find enough people to work. The government covid money dissuaded the local population from working. It is a huge mistake to admit so many Indian students attending low-credentialed private colleges and then allow them to work 20-30 hours a week. Trudeau and Miller are to blame for this. But at the same time, there was a labour shortage due to the ageging population and the fact that people have fewer kids today. Canada should give greater priority to trained professionals in areas where there is a need, such as construction, education and nursing. People in India, China, eastern Europe and other countries can get very good training in technical colleges, but it is the wealthy families in these countries that don't want their kids working these jobs.

How bout get all our people working first before bringing all these people in. The infrastructure is not in place for all newcomers. Give your head a shake.

Only Shortage is in health care and the Shortage in health care systems is not going to be fixed anytime soon. The family doctor shortage isn't going to be fixed. I left in 2015 and never came back. I don't see a reason to. Back then it was hard to get a job as a Canadian new grad. I can't imagine it is easier now. Also if I do come back, I'll probably get hit with the international experience isn't canadian experience balony.

I moved to the US from Canada. No country is perfect but I prefer the US, much better if you are younger with a good degree /skills.\n\nMuch better job market and career growth opportunities, better weather, more variety, lower taxes and higher pay, much better to be paid in USD, so much more to see/do, way better flight options, most things from eggs to cars to houses cost less...just much more.\n\nOnly thing is getting permanent residency in the US is much more difficult than Canada, but US is where the growth and opportunities are.

My husband is a senior piping designer and he can't find a job for more than a year and was on and off the job for last 6 years. I am an internationally trained doctor and I can't find anything for myself. I can't afford pursuing my profession as it's too expensive and takes years with no certainty thag you will even get into industry. So I'm looking for all other jobs. But I'm either overqualified or don't have Canadian experience. So we have money just for a few months to survive... With 2 kids it's even more stressful... We barely can afford our rent... And we can't go back home as we left it so many years ago, no connections for job there too. So we really just pray everyday...
