Canada is basically a extension of the American Upper Midwest. It just seems so bland and devoid of culture. Although I gotta say Canadians are way friendlier than Americans, at least in my experience. People here in the US are horrible.

Lived here since 1966. It’s not “ Toronto the Good”. I’m lucky I got into the market in the 70s. I wouldn’t recommend moving here for all the reasons you say. Taxes are high, rents are high, crime and homelessness are high. Not a place I’d recommend for someone starting out to move here. I’ll stay here because I live in a lovely neighbourhood and know all my neighbours. It’s home.

Let's be real here. Intake of international students, refugees, and immigrants is too much and unsustainable. It has created incredible strain on the system. We all know it even if most don't say it out loud. There needs to be a drastic slow down or even stoppage of intake at least for a short while.

I’m 70 and when I tried to get jobs as a kid and later as a university grad - it was the same story. I will say that I work in retail in a small town with no college or university in our town and we’ve had a lot of Indian students come in to ask if we’re hiring with resume in hand and calling the store as well. I have experienced this many time, mannerless kids keep kicking irrespective of how many times u request politely to not do it. But best is never to talk to minors as they are most likely travelling with an adult so always seek who they are travelling with and report to the staff onboard first. If they say they are not able to help put it on record with ur phone and report once u land, sometimes u can’t resolve this when u are onboard, as so called literate people never apologise.

One would think with all the money the Canadian Government has provided the CBC last year (1.3 billion CND by their own admission), they could do a better job of the quality of audio production of this video. I normally can play most videos with my volume set to 30% of maximum volume, but this video requires me to increase the volume to 50% to be able to hear what the CBC News commentator was saying.
