Some of the alternative countries have even more bigotry than Canada and restrictions on letting people choose their own lives. \nAsk a BLM person, a Muslim person, or LGBTQ person in America how confident they are about their entire country.

I am a Canadian citizen who moved to Bangkok, Thailand, 26 years ago as I had a professional job there. At that time, I was attracted by the Thai culture, the weather and the quality of life. I have been married to my beautiful Thai wife (S.E. Asian ladies are stunning?) for 23 years and we have two grown up children (one is studying in Canada!). I feel that I have more personal freedom in my daily life here, under a military government, than I would in Canada. There is also fast fibre optic internet, reasonably priced phone plans, the low cost of living (I bought an apartment after the 1997 financial crisis), affordable and world class private hospitals. I have learned the language and this is the perfect country for me to retire in. I could not clearly see the future years ago, but I asked myself, where do we think the future is? With creditor nations or with debtor nations? I am so glad that I made the decision to leave Canada in 1997!

I was tinkering and planning for a full 5 years wanting to live in Canada, BC but decided not too after evaluating the monthly cost. Each annual visits gotten longer and longer to get the feel on the ground. It was not meant to be, perhaps next time thou.

I am Canadian, and while elements of this video are true, there are larger points missed. healthcare is challenging, but it could be worse- could be the American system. housing is expensive if you want to live in the large urban centres. essentially, life is good but takes effort, and there's a growing sense of entitlement... but all a Canadian need do is head south and they'll be missing it in a short period of time. I would far rather be here than in China, Ukraine, Russia, India, many African nations, many South American nations, Mexico,... It's astonishing to see so many Canadians voicing serious complaints about their country. More to hear complaints coming from immigrants who then left Canada in disgust and found better lives elsewhere is even more astonishing.\n Yet I warn everyone else. It's okay for Canadians to complain about their own country. They have every right. As for immigrants or immigrants who left Canada, well, they were there and experienced the downside, so they have legitimacy.\n But for any other non-Canadian, including me, keep our mouths shut and say nothing. Canada has the same problem as the United States: wrong kind of politicians elected. Like the U.S., most Canadians consider themselves compassionate liberals and thus feel obligated to vote for said, compassionate liberal politicians. The problem is, for Canada and the U.S., these compassionate liberal politicians don't know how to run the nation's economy except to run it further into the ground. And when the problems get really bad, the solution is always, raise taxes because liberal politicians are either Marxist Socialist and believe the citizenry are obligated to pay higher and higher taxes for more government intervention, meaning, interference, in most cases.\n Whenever Canada does get around to voting in a conservative prime minister and government, the Canadian mass media immediately goes on a years-long negative campaign of deliberately undermining the government in the eyes of the Canadian People, demeaning them as inept and uncompassionate and comparing them to fascists. Eventually the Canadian People get so distressed they have to vote back in the liberal party. I've read criticisms from native Canadians on the Internet. As Canadians, they're entitled to say whatever they want about their country. If I, a Yank, open my big mouth, I'm going to get trolled by a hundred angry Canadians defending their National Health Care as the world's greatest socialized medical care. Health Care is already expensive enough in the U.S. Most people get it through their employer, which pays a part of it. But employees' monthly deductions for health insurance have been growing steadily over the past 30 years to where it's now a huge chunk out of one's monthly paycheck.

With 9 month of experience, I am truly considering going back to my country, here you cannot get a job related to the degree that you have even having 3 years experience with. They will pay the lowest in the low despite the Glassdoor average salary. Add on the high living cost and complex extremely long hiring process, there is no good career path and is all about survival. Sorry to say, but when locals are struggling, I don’t understand why asking foreigners to come… Pretty much many of us and locals are so disappointed+angry+frustrating, this country drain all my saving, I come here to work, not purely let Canada eating all my money. And yes, they said value education, but a degree will not let you to get an entry admin job cus they expected Master degree, lasting many of their systems and 10 years experience. In my province healthcare is ostensibly nonexistent. Wait times at ER's are well over 12 hours and you're often directed to go home without ever seeing a doctor. \nThere is an extreme deficit of doctors. I've been waiting 6 years for one and there are people who have waited much longer with no relief in sight. \nHousing is unaffordable. A decent (nothing special) one bedroom 1 bath apartment is around 1600 a month and this is a largely rural province, not a metropolitan city. \nHomes are being bought as fast as they go on the market at extremely inflated prices by people moving here to escape the more populated provinces. This has raised property taxes by 20% in the last 2 years.\nThe economy is in shambles. Homelessness is exploding and the government seems uninterested in fixing it in any realistic or helpful way.\nFederal and provincial income taxes are nearly 50% of your income (44% for me and a bit more for my wife). So, what money you do make you get to keep a little more than half.\nElectricity is about 3 times what it is in the US and the rate here is increasing by 29% over the next 3 years.\nGroceries are unreasonably expensive and becoming more pricey by the day. Provincial sales tax is 15% on top of those groceries as well. \nThis is a short list of a few of the more glaring issues but there are far more. Canada has transformed over the last 5 years into a place I hardly recognize anymore. If something isn't done about it soon we'll be living in a third world country by 2030.

They show a lot of grocery stores when they talk about monopolies, but it’s in everything. When I was getting my internet set up I found out only one of the two main companies in Canada is provided for my area (they do this on purpose). So I pay over $100 a month just for internet. And literally have no other cheaper option other than living with no internet. (I’m in a small town so there aren’t even any cafes or anything to pop into). And live alone. Another thing, we’ve got a big country, and I live in a rural community, so most of my colleagues drive at least 45 minutes to get to work, one way, because they’d rather live in the city. And this is NB so you can’t take public transportation like trains to get here, you’re driving on the highway to get here. Since the pandemic houses have more than doubled, I did get a raise, but it was I think 4% over the last three years. So cost of living is definitely increasing at a much higher rate. Before the pandemic I could buy a week of groceries for one person for $60, now it’s more than $100 for a week easily, and that’s with looking for bargains and reducing the amount of meat and fresh produce I eat. It can’t keep getting worse, because people already can’t afford it, so something is going to have to change before everything breaks completely.

Dont bother coming to Canada, its freezing for 6 months, and getting a job is virtually impossible, its very expensive to live and the taxes are more than 50%. Stay away. Third world country folks will try to land a PR (permanent residency) in Canada (by masquerading as a 'student visa') as a holding ground. Once they obtain it, they will try to move to the USA on a work visa. It's a loophole being exploited by Indians, Arabs, and Filipinos. Non-third world country folks like and Mainland Chinese and some South Koreans & Japanese, will do the same on living in Canada then find ways to move to the USA from Canada. Sorry, but Canada is turning brown. California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois are filled with Indians and middle easterns, and same goes for most of Europe. I've worked with so many Indians and Arabs, after their USA work visa is over, so they move back to Canada and continue to work remote. It's no joke and infested with third world folks.

The thing about Canadian experience is so true, even for Canadians that live abroad and then come back. I spent my 20s living in Japan and when I moved back to Canada I had such a hard time finding a job because all of my experience from the past decade was overseas. It’s taken me about 6 years to get stable footing here again but the rising cost of living still has be feeling a bit uneasy at times.

Symptomatic of Canada is the fact that on average Government employees earn 20% more than those in equivalent jobs in the private sector, they retire will fully indexed pensions equivalent to their 3 highest salary years (private sector employees must pay for their own pension or try and live off the universal pension of $1,200 per month from CPP), their benefits and vacation time are unmatched by the private sector. It is workers in the private sector and the companies that employ them who pay all the taxes required to compensate the most overpaid and bloated government service in the world. As a result, Canada's private sector is no longer competitive. It is a country where parents no longer encourage their children to find a high pay job in the private sector, they instead encourage their children to either move to the USA (if they're ambitious) or secure a government sector job. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH CANADA. and God help you if you're born in Canada as a Caucasian Make your change of securing one of these high paying government jobs is close to zero.

We immigrated to Canada to create a life we would not have been able to have back home. However, not only did we not obtain a better life, we lost the opportunities that we would have had back home if we had stayed there. We came here to be able to buy property, to have secure employment in the fields that we were trained for. We came here to have better medical care. At this point, to see a doctor, we prefer to fly back home and to get diagnosed and treated there because of the long wait times and doctors who are reluctant to prescribe tests and are just passive. They just care about the paperwork they need to complete instead of diagnosing and treating patient. We immigrated to lower our stress levels but they doubled and tripled due to debts, the risk of being laid off or fired so easily . I work 10 hours a day, but I live in conditions that a jobless person is living. The salary I earn does not help me improve my life and to buy a house and to generally improve. The issue is that Canada is being dangerously overrated and is being marketed for what is not true. Hopefully with social media the realities will get out and reach people.

If you were born in Canada and lived here all your life, things don't look good anymore. If you are immigrating from a 3rd world country, this is still heaven. Like most Westerners, Canadians are spoiled in manyy ways. So as soon as something gets bellow their expectations, they start crying, and complainig. For newcomers, this is not an issue because no matter how 'bad' Canada is, it's still better than the place they came from.

I live in Japan and don't regret selling my house last year in BC with the intention of not permanently living in Canada again. The healthcare system is much better here. Food is delicious and cheap...and no tipping. Houses are 1/4 of the price, with good houses for as little as....free...if you don't mind fixing them up a bit. It is safe and a short trip by public transportaion gets you either downtown or in the middle of nature. What happened to my country? Oh.....Canada.

Very high cost of living in Canada is a big problem for new immigrants. Monthly cost in large cities like Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary: rent for a 2 bedroom flat is 1.5 lakh rupees, cost of food (3-4 people) 50,000 rupees,1 bus/train pass 9600 rupees, 1 mobile phone 6000 rupees. How much will you able to save?

I am a foreigner who lives in Canada now. I am not Canadian or East Indian. However, I am 100% SURE that if Canada did not import those useless, disgusting, and rude things, India would have been bankrupt 100% already. Unfortunately, Canada is still importing tons of those things again and again and Canada is about bankruptcy now. The Canadian GDP rate is proving that. Food prices are a hot topic right now. Interestingly, I was in Fort Myers Florida recently shopping at Publix and I was astonished by the high food prices versus stores around Toronto. 1.5L of Tropicana orange juice was $7.99 USD compared to $5.99 CAD, green/red peppers were much more expensive. Cereals, bread, potatoes, meats…. everything I found was consistently more expensive in USD versus CAD. Once you factor in the exchange rate it was just that much more painful. Perhaps Fort Myers is unique in this respect, or maybe it was a Publix issue, but I was happy to come home to much more reasonable food prices. \n\nWe definitely have our issues in Canada, but I love Canada. Our lakes, wilderness, and wildlife are truly majestic. We have virtually unlimited freedom to explore and roam this beautiful land. As one comment stated wisely, too many people live beyond their means and make unwise purchase decisions that create stress. Having said that, I realize that wealth and income inequality have never been worse, and many people face very difficult daily struggles. I do think Canada offers a better social safety net structure vs US to help people through those struggles, but we are definitely heading in the wrong direction in that respect. These are complex issues that are difficult to solve.

Lot of educated Indians with degrees go to Canada only to do unskilled low wage jobs. They pay heavy taxes and rent and can't afford food. Living a paycheck to paycheck life. And USA is no better. They have strict anti immigration laws now. So i suggest you educated Indians to stay in India do the kind of jobd that fits your qualifications. And pay your income tax correctly. You know only 2% of Indians pay their income taxes. Tax evasion is preventing the development of India. If you love your country don't do that. Because you ain't cheating your govt but cheating your country and ultimately cheating yourself

Unfortunate Truth about Canada as a Canadian who lived here in most provinces due to work. The USA attracts Canadians as a better financial ability & lifestyle and less harsh long winters!

New housing is owned by people who do not really live in Canada. New construction is fueled by offshore multi nationals and money laundering schemes. No one with a decent Canadian income can afford these units. Not only this, but incredibly, there is no free speech in Canada. Any voice of dissent or difference in opinion is brutally silenced. Not a democratic country anymore.
