I have relatives in Iowa and Texas,, so love those areas, spent time in military so traveled all over U.S. but things aren't the best here with divisiveness in Canada lately. Canada is very large and vast so things like western Canada having more in common with north western USA than they do with Ontario or Quebec. If I had a choice I wish I could have dual citizenship.

Each countries have their pros and cons. Yes guns and religions are a big turn off but in Canada we're not as free as in USA. \nHere, in Canada, i can't defend myself or my home, i have to way for the police to show up (and it take enough time for the cops to find a corps) if i do and do arm or kill the offenderl, i end up in jail which leaves Canadians with 2 choices. Either get killed or get in Jail. \nIn the last years i saw Canada going to a close to be socialists system and slowly going into a communist system which scare the shit out of me. I won't allow the governement to tell me where to work, where to live, when to bath or what to think. \nThen there's theses biggots who wonder why their church is not open 24/7 and believe earth is flat who claim everything that's not related to them is evil. Theses are the most stupid and dangerous people in the world because they're armed and fanatics. Sometimes you can almost think they'll start a new crusade 400 years after the grand inquisition. In Canada we kicked out theses priest and their BS out of our homes and pollitics for 60years now and that's one of the main reason why Canada is better. \nThen there's that millitary expense problem. We don't spend 2/3 of our incomes into a war machine then say there's no money. We don't bail our youth to FORCE them to do their millitary services. \nI wish i could have a gun to defend myself and it's a shame i can't do neither of thoses.

In terms of family safety and investment I would never move to the U.S.A. When I do travel across the border I make sure I have two sources of medical coverage in case I get ill or have an accident, as I know I might as well jump off a bridge if I end up in the hospital with an illness requiring surgery. Though I do appreciate the grit of Americans and the absolute hell the working class has been through this last decade, I do wish you all the very best and my heart is with you.

I'm Canadian and lived in SF for a bit in the 90s. It was fabulous and I had wished I could have lived there longer -- legally. But it isn't that easy for an average Canadian to get a visa to live and work in the states. Made me sad, but now that I see the state of SF I'm good with it now.

As a dual citizen, currently in Canada, but have lived in CA, AZ, TX, and FL. I Can say... NO!... BUT...I so miss the weather, geography of much of the US. \n\nI wish the political, religious and gun culture would improve so I could move back. Hmmm, let me see. Mass shootings, high infant mortality, high medical costs, backwards trends in women’s healthcare, high death rate by gun violence for children just for starters would keep me from moving to the US. We used to vacation in the US all the time. One of my husband’s dreams is to see the Smithsonian, but that’s never going to happen. We wouldn’t ever consider crossing the border anymore and I wish the US would keep its toxic politics on its side of the border and keep their hands out of Canadian politics.

When I think of the US the first word that comes to mind is THANKFUL. Thankful that all my ancestor’s immigrated to Canada. Especially the United Empire Loyalist’s that came and settled in Ontario. Also the ancestor's that fought for our freedoms, We will remember them. We up her in the great white north will always think of our cousin’s to the south and wish them all the best in the future.

Oh Tyler. I've been watching your content for months now, and I do wish you would read and interact with your commenters because you would learn so much. I'll just comment on one fact. As a young, white, childless male, I doubt you would be affected by most of the reasons people who visit and know the US here in Canada would think of. Most of my friends are in the US and I livestream with them 5 nights a week, and every time a ma ss shooting is reported, we hear about it and suffer along with you too. \n\nFACT: The number ONE cause of death for children and teens in the US is Firearm related, so gun deaths. Yes it's true, and there isn't a single friend of mine who isn't scared to express an opinion, or send their kids and grandkids to school or Uni. wherever they live in the US. Statistically speaking, almost every citizen in the US is going to know someone who is un-alived by gun violence. We have strict gun laws here, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

The population in Canada is now over 40 million and gowning so it appears that there are some people who don't agree with you. I wish you would have taken a few thousand of those people who are constantly sneaking across the border into Canada with you, as we could certainly do without them. As for health care, it isn't perfect here in Canada, but I would certainly prefer what is available here rather than being one of the 32 million Americans who can't afford medical coverage and, if they suffer a catastrophic medical problem, end up losing everything they own trying and pay the bills and end up living on the street.

I just got off work and am eating a bowl of ramen with corn. I have a college degree with payments out the A$$ for rent, food, insurance and childcare. I have insurance through my work that costs me A TON. In a small apt. What is happening? I really just wish I hit the border and knew spanish. I love how NY is opening college dorm housing for free with food, tax free employees for those willing to BEND the laws, free insurance for families. What the @#$^@#$^@ is happening. What did he think was gonna happen? You were already in the US, which comparatively speaking to Central America, is much safer by every metric. Why would you then leave the US to come to Canada? Of course you can’t seek asylum because you’re not a refugee. \n\nDon’t get me wrong, I believe that if people follow the legal procedures for the country they wish to reside in, they should at least have a chance at residency. However, this guy is an economic migrant, and if he wishes to live in Canada then you shouldn’t be filing for asylum, you need to apply for residency. But the fact that he was already undocumented in the US means that he risks deportation if he re-enters. I’m a citizen, born and raised here in the US, yet I can barely afford rent and groceries and have to work two jobs to get by. This enrages me. My country is so quick to kiss these peoples ass, give them handouts, have us pay taxes for these people to live here, and I just wish our border control was more harder on this trash.
