You need white collar wages just to be able to rent, not buy, rent an apartment in most major cities. Cost of homes is insane as well.\n2. The jobs that do pay well often get hundreds of applications making your chances lower.\n3. Dentists cost an arm and a leg. The cost of it is insane unless you have a really good coverage plan from your job. \n4. Healthcare moves at a snails pace. Not good if you have a serious illness or disease.\n5. The climate overall sucks. Its not cold. Its ridiculously cold.\n\nMy advice: Be made of money. \nSeriously though, have a huge savings and have a long term financial plan. Getting jobs that pay a living wage here as newcomers here are HARD to get because they always want Canadian work experience. University education from other countries other than the US, UK, or Australia don't count here. Be prepared to live very humbly unless you are just made of money.\n\nI dont even want to live in canada anymore. Meaning they have say maximum quota of 2000 patiens per year. This means less time you spend with patients you have more free time. This is why most family doctors are careless with patients and prefer younger and healthy patients. They wont accept older or someone who is umhealthy.\n\n2nd is the food chaine, its dominated by 3 big industries, they control the price to maximize the profit. \n\n3rd is the tipping. 18% minimum everywhere you go, and this is after your tax deducted money.\n\nyou need to make at least 250k to live comfortably in canada, assuming you have no or very low mortgage.

It has been obvious for a while now that immigration of any kind is no longer beneficial to Canada or in many cases for the immigrant. Housing is out of control expensive and the health care system has deteriorated to alarming levels as there are not enough doctors or nurses or beds to handle the preseent population. Now the prices for food, fuel and most other things have become increasingly expensive and with inflation and interest rates being a concern the issues are pressing from every direction. To be blunt, we do not need any more people entering the country for a few years until more housing can be built, more hospitals can be built, more doctors and nurses hired and inflation and interest rates brought under control. There is evidence that the economy is going to join the party as far as things to worry about and available jobs could lessen, not a good thing.

I am 66 , I had to take my ill wife to emergency at the Peterborough hospital about 3 months ago. After sitting for 2.5 hours in an over crowded emergency room, I asked how much longer before we see a doctor. We were told by a nurse it would be another few hours at least and it could be up to 5 more hours after that to see the specialist she needed. So the wait could be 10.5 hours, we waited 2 more hours, then we got up and left. If we ever go back it will be in an ambulance. But to be honest We are done with this broken, rotting health care system. I blame the bum that has destroyed this country and destroyed the Canadian health care system.

Born and day raised here. Immigration is out of control as is all all the social services, bailouts, and specials needs funding. This is missing SOOOO much of the actual story of what is going on over here. There is a lot of corruption in our housing market fueled by faked incomes just for starters. That's not including the massive supply and demand crunch we are facing on multiple fronts from having too much people suddenly, to having not enough housing suddenly. No surprise there, \n\nCanada is NOT attractive to migrants anymore due to multiple reasons.\n\nSoon a 1 bedroom apartment will probably cost 5000$/month for rent in the Major Cities making it impossible to settle here for newcomers.\n\nThe healthcare system has serious problems due to a lack of Doctors and Nurses who left for better paying jobs in US or Europe.\n\nIf you need immediate Specialist care you will probably have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the Private sector because the Public Health System has huge waiting lists and is understaffed.\n\nYou won’t be able to get a Government Family Doctor because the remaining ones have thousands of patients already so they’re swamped.\n\nYou can wait even 10 years for a Family Doctor and still won’t get one.\n\nYou can’t be bumped up on waiting lists for Doctors or Specialists even if you are in a critical condition because you aren’t a Celebrity / Politician / Millionaire.\n\nOnly those with a lot of money, status, power get immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.\n\nMost of the traditional medical costs like and eye exam, treating an ingrown toe nail, Physiatrie treatment are NOT covered by the Provinces anymore so you will have to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars again.\n\nSome Provinces are already copying the US healthcare system which is 100% Private and for profit so don’t be surprised if you you’re gonna have to pay even for an infusion.\n\nThe minimum wage is only 15$/hour in most provinces when in reality you need at least 40$/hour to survive the ridiculous cost of living.\n\nYour typical salary will go 45% to taxes and 45% to rent leaving almost nothing for food / bills / gas / insurance etc. \n\nYou will struggle to make ends meet and possibly starve a week or two every month just to say that you’re “Canadian” \n\nThat is the sad reality but Canada is in a deep hole right now.\n\nUK is in a similar situation too.

I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario have had two wives and six children payed high child support and spousal support. But just before I was ready to retire I had no more responsibilities and I got to keep my pension. I brought a house twenty years ago in Newfoundland where I am from and put it in my Mother's name. I am now retired with a payed for home which I heat with a wood cook stove, electric base boards but never need them and have solar panels and wind turbines but I am still hooked up to the grid but my bill is 40 dollars.I don't have internet or Netflix only a cell phone with a 100 gigabytes download.I run my tv off solar power that charges golf cart batteries also have a generator to charge the battery bank .I download off of YouTube and other places to a 1 terabyte hard drive that run thru my laptop and have that backuped . I have a ham radio. 250 gallon water tank just in case the village I live in the water goes out. I have a water flush toilet and a compost toilet. My property has apple trees and very productive raised beds to grow food, I also fish and hunt small game but I buy beef and pork that is free range and grass fed from a local butcher. There are many ATV trails around here, we have a gas station and small grocery store which I try to buy as much as possible from to support local employment. I have a side by side ATV with a nice back box , insurance and gas cost nothing. I used to have a truck but got rid of it because I didn't need it to get around plus I enjoy the ride in the side by side. The only draw back is to many people drink and drive around here and young people on drugs who steal.. I have pension and benefits and traveled for five years before I came back here. I get restless for excitement but remember it's a time to be quiet. Don't crave others company and I am pretty healthy, the only stress I have is to figure out what I am going to do that day.
