You both are so right. After speaking with countless immigrants in my area over the 12 years in Halifax, I have met so many perfectly qualified people even from the UK with English who couldn't work in their field without more credentials. Many I know left and are leaving. Plus, we need more doctors yet they make it so hard for newcomers. The government should make this better or at least be more honest especially if they want people to stay. Very informative even for someone who is a Canadian and born here.

Every province has good and bad qualities, except Ontario. I lived in Ontario on and off for about 20 years. Not one good thing comes to mind about this province, not one. I've also lived in Quebec and Alberta, both great. Ontario is like the armpit of Canada, it just stinks, definitely because of the government overreach, extremely high tax robbery on everything you buy, very high cost of living compared to both Quebec and Alberta. Both Alberta and Quebec are wayyyyyy cheaper to live than Ontario, and to be totally fair, the people in Ontario seem to be the most narcissistic i've seen within 3 provinces i've lived in, and with the worst roads. So much car repairs every single year from just driving on the main roads, which are basically just pot holes because they line their pockets with the taxes instead of using the money to fix the roads. The people in gov make so much money, there is none left after their payday to fix the roads or build any parks or things for families. Ontario is actually a bad place to live, especially with other good options available, it's the only province i don't recommend moving to if you want a decent quality of life. You can't even find a doctor here unless you live within or drive for 2 hours to get to the city. It's extremely inconvenient and expensive for no reason other than tax grabs and high fees for every single thing you have to do in life, there's a high fee for that in Ontario.

After watching this video, i still want to make my move to canada in the next 1 to 2 years. Because canada is a big upgrade from usa. Im from texas and i hate the hot weather that lasts 11 months of basically summer. and always dreamed about cold cloudy weather instead. Im 21 and im planning to get my education there so it's not really a big problem for me compared to other people who already studied in their home country. Basically life quality is better and i dont have to worry about the sad things that happen here. I love canada and i want to be a proud Canadian.

Quebec, Nova Scotia and NFLD are tied for history. I suggest visits to Fortress Louisbourg & The Citadel in Halifax and yes Montreal & Quebec City are historic and lovely. You have reminded me of why my friends from the subcontinent love Canada and wish to make their home in our drop dead beautiful country. Really, their is no worst in Canada unless you want to live on the beach all year. Then your likely to get skin cancer.

So true 100%!!! Your fellow international friend from Serbia here. I was forced to leave home in late 90s due to civil war there. I thought America was dream and paradise where all problems cease to exist. Little did I know America is living nightmare and hellhole where real problems actually just started. Even financially wise, half of the USA population is so poor working for pocket change. Nothing left in the end of month. Everything is dark, soulless and tasteless. This is damned land. There is no life. Just work sleep and paying bills. There is no outdoor life. Even people you know you get chance to see them every 3 weeks. Everybody lives spread out from each other and work different jobs, different days and shifts. It's impossible to make friends. It's impossible to get normal girlfriend or any girlfriend. No human connection. No passion, no enjoy. Neighbors don't even talk to neighbors. Just emotional pain, loneliness and depression that can lead to SERIOUS psychological issues and consequences. While experiencing all this I actually thought something was wrong with me, like feeling of being under black magic attack, that's how serious it feels. I always wanted to live here and to see people from all over the world and hang out with them. However people here share same mentality, they are very reserved and alienated from each other. Nobody cares about each other here. People are also very close minded and hang out in their own groups like in prison, whites with whites, blacks with blacks and so on... People here don't realize they became androids and modern slaves. They put money first and left behind family, friends and love. It's best never to come here, you have to be an idiot if you think happiness exist in America. Stay on your own land.

I can agree with these comments if your not American, growing up we had all that interaction with family, friends and neighbors. Life n times have changed in America due to gun violence, especially in large cities. Socializing is different in every state in America and in every country. I can understand how if your not accustomed to our ways of life even today, that you would prefer your ways of living back in your hometown and your Country. If you live in a big City in America and moved there from a smaller town in America, you will be feeling some loneliness, that's normal to us in America. If your American then you adjust to making n meeting new people, that hasn't been so easy with the pandemic for anyone. To compare our homes in one community from another or even from another country, is just criticism. We don't have a specific way of living, as far as our homes are constructed. This is how as American's we have always lived, small homes, large homes, big cities, small towns. Since the pandemic we do find ourselves spending more time inside due to no fault of our own. We do have different ways of living but so do other countries which we do enjoy when we visit. If you want to learn more about America and our lifestyles and history, you should do that. Every Country has it's government rules n law's and we try to abide by them, that's what makes our Country n Our Nation Great, that's also why many people come here to visit or work and study. Developers and builder being charged 40% more for development charges (per door) so the cost gets passed down to the buyer...to the point new home prices stop making sense and builders don’t want to build. I am an Irish man that moved to the U.S.S.A twenty years ago. And my ass and all my other bits and pieces are now ( Thanks Christ be to Jesus) back in Ireland. America is not a country its a business. The most God dam cold vacuous depressing soulless place on this planet. Land of the fee and home of the slave. An open air prison with so many God dam rules and regulations it will make your head spin. Thank feck I have traveled . I have been all around Europe and South America, and a little to Africa. I hate to say it but it's true... I live in windsor ontario Canada, when we were kids it was like that, im in my 40s in the 80s and 90s we played outside whatever we wanted. it all started with internet becoming big with social media, and I'm guilty of the video games, them as well as soon as we got Nintendo as kids my parents would make us stop and go outside, but as we got older u started seeing it less and less until where it's at now no kids playing outside very rarely I do see it in the summer but it's very true it's very sad

Governments do not set housing prices ... the market and speculators do. So do you want a prime minister to freeze housing prices? Make a rule that sellers are not allowed to ask for more than 10% extra above their own purchase price? Order construction firms to build 100,000s of domiciles to be priced at $250,000 even if it is a loss? Set a minimum wage of $35/hr so a 2 income family might be able to buy at current prices? Politicians do fix/cause inflation.

After living next to annoying neighbors who make noise all hours of the night in an appartment, I wish I could live that isolated lifein one of those small townhouses. I dont want to know my neighbors becausr they are most likely unreasonable, better to be left alone than deal with shitty people.

As an Indian living in Australia , I can relate with every single word said here. Australia like most western countries, is good if you wish to make some money but not so good if you want to have an active social life. its cold and desolate most times of the year. Hardly any sun in the south eastern states. People keep to themselves and indoors most of the time. .Social life is almost non existent which can cause serious psychological issues., Depression being very common. Kids here develop serious mental issues right from a young age . If you are a single man its even worse. If you want happy healthy active social life, avoid going to western countries.

Yeah I don't understand why people want to come to Canada except to make a bunch of money and go home after a few years. I am 60 now, when I grew up we played in the streets and ran wild. No play dates. Neighbors knew each other. I don't know what happened. It's so sad now.

My friend, it depends on what you want out of your time in US. If you want outdoor life, there is plenty of it here, you just have to know what to do and where to go. If you have been indoors for 10 days and only gone out twice, then that tells a lot about your own self, not being an outdoor person. There are parks, lakes, amusements, beaches. There are facilities for hiking, walking, cycling, etc. I really think that you have not been exposed or you have not explored what is available here for outdoor fun. In the western world you can take your family out camping in the forest with the assurance that you will come back home safely. You can take your boat down to the lake for a day of fun with no problem. If you lived in most parts of Africa, and bought a boat, and started going to the river or lakes in the weekend, then the police commissioner, or military person who lives close to you will fabricate a reason to intimidate you and confiscate it. What I mean is in Africa, you run the risk of becoming a target once people see that you are an ordinary citizens who is doing well. Here, not like that.\n\nJust be happy that you are here and make the most of it. While you were in Africa, you dreamt about coming to America, now that you are here, all you want is to recreate Africa here. If Africa was good enough, no African will want to be here.

Sir I have shifted to UK ..around 5 months ago...I spent around 12 years in Saudi arabia before.\nThe main difference between our country and this country is the PEOPLE.\nIts not the prices..the money etc that makes you feel better. I was earning good in saudia as well but here...its the people..that make you feel better.\nWe booked a hotel here for quarantine and the Pakistani agent who paid for us by a credit card used a fake card number or what. We received a letter from the govt about 2285 pounds due to be paid. Of course thats alot of money for new comers...and as you said there was no payment plan or anything discussed in the letter.I called them back and the first thing they asked me was Are you alright right now? Do you need anything from us? And that was...an experience I never had before in my life. Then they discussed the way outs for the dues.\nSame goes for the jobs..the positions..the hiring...not the SAUDI/AJNABI shit going on at all ! Or the bribes we have to pay in Pakistan to get a basic job !\nThe difference in HUMANITY is big sir...among our countries and these. This is just un doable now. My experience about Canada after living here for a few years now: \n1): Healthcare: There are two sides of it. If you need a specialist, forget about it, just live with your disease or problems and hope it will cure itself and won’t get worse. If you are in a life threatening condition and need a surgery, you’ll get it and the medical bill won’t scare you. I needed a dermatologist, never got one, eventually had to fly to the US for a simple treatment. \n2): Taxes: You’ll pay extra to take care of the large aging population of Canada and to maintain the infrastructure in the extreme cold weather. But, you can make a good use of your RRSP and TFSA accounts, and you can also buy American stocks without paying taxes. \n3): Travel and transportation: Forget about public transportation methods like buses and trains. You’re on your own. But a vehicle ownership isn’t very hard here. \n4): Social networking: Good luck with that. Good luck finding friends here or being a part of a friends group. Canadians are polite but not outgoing and extrovert. Most people make a few friends in Schools and College. You’re not going to see people of different races and origin hanging out with each other. \n5): Real estate: Population is growing, population is aging, it’s all happening but what’s not many houses are getting built. Buying your own house isn’t easy. Canadian's are losing everything. Immigration needs to end. This country can't afford to provide for more immigrants. As lifelong Canadian. Why do people not do their research before they leave their country? If someone is smart enough to be a doctor in their country of origin, you'd think they'd be smart enough to research what Canada's prerequisites are, and make sure they're taking those steps. Being a nurse in one country is equivalent to being a lab tech in Canada. So as a patient, I don't want a lab tech taking care of my loved ones in hospital.

The biggest issue is most immigration in Canada are highly skilled people the Canadian government are looking to exploit via taxes. Canada is only a good Country if you want to sit on your ass and do nothing. The more you make the more they take to pay for everyone else. I have no choice but to stay in this Country (born and raised), but I have travelled a bit with the Canadian Military and if my life was different I would probably try and find another Country to try.

I'm planning to make a big chenge in our lifes .to go back to my country. No way to buy a house here. My friend bought a house 4 Hr. Away from the city ..now wants to came back to toronto no jobs in those places. In the end we are in the same situation.

Many leave their own country, and come to Canada BECAUSE of their dislikes; extremism, culture, religion, laws, identity and in some cases backwards thinking; attempt to turn what we in society would consider as sexist, and discriminatory in some examples….\n\n…however when those same individuals finally achieve citizenship, or in some cases this starts (attempt to change Canadian law(s)) before obtaining citizenship, making moves to force the above, everything they despised, hated or disliked about their own country, into this new country ? Well, if that is considered a hardship, then maybe they need to rethink their intent. As an older Canadian who was educated in Canada with a B.Ed. - then worked away from Canada for thirty of my forty years. There is no way to say that any country is the best one to live in; every country has strengths and weaknesses- that especially relate to your specific needs and wants. Coming back to the country of my citizenship was also extremely hard for me after working away for so many years. The way to do well anywhere in Canada, is to build up credibility/seniority at one job and stick with it. Whether you are university or self-educated- which is considered just as valuable in today's job market- you are going to face an uphill battle unless you are fairly established. Canada has a high level of unemployment and some sectors, have an overabundance of trained workers. When my Middle East friends tell me they would like to live and work in Canada, I give them the advice I would give anyone. First, think about your family or friends that you want to have around you in your daily life- that is number one. Nothing is more depressing than being alone. Weather is a big factor, but it can be tolerated if you are with your core family or friends. One hundred years ago when my ancestors fled war and revolution, they had no choice but to do their best to make a life in a very difficult climate (literally)- culturally and weather-wise. There are a number of refugees today that are in similar circumstances. They do their best to get past the difficulties for the sake of their children's futures. If you are not literally refugees, think hard about you choice to leave your core culture and people.

If you are a doctor in your own country making good money why would want to leave and come to canada makes no sense. Canada is for the young not when you are 40yrs old .

I moved to Canada about 17 years ago and yes it is an absolute pain to jump through all the hoops they want you to go through. I was only here a few days and I came from Ireland as a brick and stone mason they recruited me from Ireland and wanted me to come out. Within three days on the job I learned I would be getting less wages than the other bricklayers. I packed up my tools and walked off the job I notified the employer and the union by emails and told him I’d be flying back home in a few days. Well the union and the employers came running straight away to get me to stay. Trying to explain that after a couple of months I’d be on the same money as the rest of the guys. This is where I explain to them that taking home C$1100 was already a pay cut a massive pay cut as are used to take home 2500 to 2200 Euros living in Ireland. I moved to Canada for a change of lifestyle but that doesn’t mean I was going to be taken advantage of. And that’s when they said they would pay me the same as everybody else. Sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself and be willing to follow through. They even reimbursed me for the airline ticket I bought to go back. Some skill sets they really need in this country in addition Canadians population growth is absolutely dependent upon immigration as the family sizes and birth rates are critically to lol to sustained a country. As I’ve said I’ve been living here 17 years now and I am a Canadian citizen I guess that makes me an Irish Canadian now.
