This isn't about Trump, or anyone else. This is an American issue. 95% of illegals are from south of the border. Americans fight for their country. Black people fought and died for their freedom, equality and rights. If you have your own country fight for it!

It's refreshing to get the TLDR take on this kind of subject. Most of my news come from the BBC or Guardian and anything immigration related is a hot topic. So you are never going to get a balanced, unbiased presentation, just hysteria about the far right or whatever. \n\nAs noted here, I suspect this 'mass deportation' rhetoric will be just that. Never mind China and Haiti, I think the biggest Latino group currently is from Venezuela. Trump might be a maniac, but that poor benighted country's dictator is off the scale. How will Trump push tens of thousands of Venezuelans back home?

It feels so foolish to keep trying bandaid solutions that harm the US labor pool. There's a couple of things I keep thinking about in regards to this. \n\n1. Most developed countries on earth are in the midst of or are preparing to deal with population crisis and depopulation. Strong immigration to the US stems this issue and is actually a huge advantage to the power and continuing visibility of the USA.\n\n2. Deportation and border control strike at the effect of immigration and leave the cause unharmed. People come to the USA because there's opportunities here, so why not make opportunities abroad?\n\nIf the USA were to remove benefits of dealing with china while offering massive incentives for moving manufacturing away from china directly to Latin America, not only would we be countering our Chinese dependency but we would also provide jobs at home and stem immigration. Not only that, but the businesses would be American and be controlled by Americans - a huge incentive to stay friendly to the USA.\n\nI don't know, just seems like our current policy and especially what Trump is suggesting are counter productive and stuck in a bygone way of thinking.

We don’t want Trump to ever visit us here and Country,

Trump says he wants to get rid of low skill migrants for highly skilled migrants, migrants that can actually contribute positively to the U.S economy, and not the ones who don’t pay taxes and send all the money they earned back to their home countries.

Our military today is a high-technology force with career professional officers and enlisted personnel. The U.S. military exists to defend the country in war or prepare for war against foreign threats. Trump could quickly hollow out the military as career experts leave. The military does not exist for civilian police functions. It is illegal and unconstitutional for the U.S. military to arrest civilians or enforce immigration laws. The American military is apolitical. No one swears an oath to any political leader but only to our Constitution. Mass deportations of undocumented people living in the United States won't be done with the help of the Army, National Guard, or other military services. The U.S. military does not have to follow illegal or unconstitutional orders. Military officers do not want to engage in civilian police functions or enforce immigration laws. Trump firing military officers would hollow out the military, likely destroying our readiness to fight future wars.

There is a very big problem with trump's xenophobic screed to create fear and hate of immigrants. Instead of addressing the need to fix the difficulties immigrants face to enter the country legally or how many legal immigrants we will need to grow the country - we have demonized immigrants for trying to make a better life in the US.?

It's a problem and the only way to not see it as one is to remove your head.\n\nI'm down to seeing whatever measures needed to get rid of all if not most illegal aliens. The Democrats have been wrong at every step on this issue and have done but incentives people to come at great peril (Democrats are the ones if who have treated these poor people as political pawns).\n\nThey are also WRONG about it being geopolitical issue in South America. Most people entering the US illegally have not even been from Central or South America (if they are from Mexico they don't even get let in). But from China, Turkey, Ukraine, Pakistan, (not exactly countries that loves us).\n\nThese people have to make it through the Darien Gap and then fend off cartels from ripping them off. I also want to see Trump go after people who helped these illegals get here–not just cartels.

She is so disgusting. I couldn't turn my back on them. Why haven't they applied for their papers? R they DACA? They're screaming out the Pledge of Allegiance, then there is that Trump flag blowing away. He committed treason and is a traitor to our country and democracy.

Laws won't stop him at all. He controls everything. The senate, the house, the Supreme Court, majority of state governors. Most anti-Trump Republicans have been purged from the party and the rest will be purged come next midterms. The country is his and there's nothing anyone can do. Dude could change the name of the country to Trumpland or Americania if he wanted.

Its curious how Liberal media mentions not that Joe Biden tied $60 billion in aid to Ukraine to his border bill. And money going to other countries that brought the US money being sent abroad to $116 billion. It a two things in the same bill combo which gave d Trump the means of persuading Republicans to block it.

I don't know how a 2nd Trump Administration can really pull it off, but I do know a better way to deal with illegal migrants that have done terrible things in the states. Don't return them to their home country, return the to the earth.

I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare. Once these migrants go these jobs will need to be filled presumably by Americans that command higher wages. I mean if Trump said he wanted to bring cost of groceries down this might not turn into a good plan.

Trump can’t send millions of people to other countries. He has no clue about international politics.

How stupid can you get? Trump will do everything he can, legal or illegal, to keep non-European immigrants from entering the country legally or illegally. I feel for you guys. Most Western nations are experiencing this. The politicians are letting in people as if people are going to be sold out and no longer be available. You must vote for politicians that will take this situation seriously. \n\nI am an American and the only reason the USA is handling its legal and illegal immigration is because of how large we are. We can absorb it better than any other country. The USA also severely limits legal immigration and now with Trump, hopefully illegal immigration numbers go down too.

Canadians should not be surprised if Americans under President Trump decide to force Canadians to get visas for future travels. \n\nCanadian generous refugee policy has allowed millions of criminals/terrorists into the country and most of them once they obtain the Canadian passport aim to move to US and Americans are aware of this scam. Canada also has many who would like to harm North America due to their affiliation with terror organizations. It’s not going to be easy for Canadians who plan to visit US.

I don't think Trudeau and Trump feel the same way about each other as they did 7 years ago. Seven years ago was a different energy and now its a new energy between them. Running to a different country to show President Donald Trump you don't like him is a HUGE act of unkindness that everyone sees.

I think it’s important to note that her choice of words implies a greater issue than just supporting Trump, lack of empathy. The bulk of people that vote for Trump have two mentalities: “if I had to do it, so do you” and “this doesn’t affect me personally so I don’t care”. It’s bizarre to me that people think we need to take America “back” as if this country isn’t made up of a majority of immigrants. Most of our ancestors did NOT come here legally. America is in dire need of education, not just about elections, but political theory in general. So many people think Socialism = Marxism and immediately write it off as diabolical to even mention. The truth is, more communal ideologies will boost the economy not hinder it. I was worried when Trump won, but now I feel like maybe we need to experience authoritarian regimes like his in order to actually wake up and see how our lack of knowledge and care is running the country into the ground.

Just remember The Mexican president will not receive any Imigrant except Mexican. Trump will have to spend billions of dollars to fly Central American immigrants to their countries period.

Proud dual citizen Canadian here. Love the country, people and culture. However, the Liberal politics of the last 9 years have been a disaster, from high inflation, uncontrolled immigration, lack of pro business investments, homelessness, housing… this is to list just a few issues. The same thing has been happening in the US and Western Europe. Thank you God for helping elect Donald Trump. Many on this forum may not like the guy, but he was before, and will be good for the country, economy, overall people of the US and indirectly Canada. Are we talking about a mass deportation of people who came into this country illegally? The funding and the resources are the problems. Trump is not going to be able to deport as many as he proposes. If some of them have been here and started an American-born family, then they should get special consideration, but if it's decided they get deported it's really not the fault of the government, it solely rests on the shoulders of those who come in our country and break our laws. If the idea is to become an American Citizen breaking the law is not the first thing to do to swear allegiance. It's confusing. My hope is that we get this issue behind us with fairness and compassion, without sending the message that you can just come here without due process.

It will never be a doable thing to remove the productive residents for a non productive interest. We don’t eat money or technology to live. We don’t manufacture enough weapons and high tech to trade for food and supplies. It’s not how the world works. Trump is all talk and will get no where but add another 8 trillion into America’s debt. 4yrs is just a brief passing by moment. A country is not a company. We do have 47% citizens with democracy at hearts. All will be fine!

Someone has been living in the country for over 20 years or 30 years with no criminal records, working hard, and contributing to the economy and modern civilization as a whole and you think such a person is not worthy to remain in the country? Something trump supporters and everyone needs to understand is that there is NO application to just apply and come here legally! That’s why her family has been here for 20 something years. Only people that can “apply” are asylum seekers. Anyone from any other country there is no such application. There would only be an “application” is there was an immigration reform that would allow people that want to come or have been here to apply. There has not been immigration reform/amnesty in decades. \n\nI urge everyone to YouTube or go on the uscis website and find this so called application. The only way is either 1. You were born somewhere else and your parents are citizens 2. Enlist in US military 4. Marriage with a us citizen. So it’s not as easy as just applying, if it was there wouldn’t be so much illegal immigration. \n\nNo excusing or saying it’s okay to come illegally, just saying the reason people do it that way is because there hasn’t been and there currently is no process to do it legally.
