We certainly do not want any of these low-rent criminals in our country!\nOnly the brightest and the best, well educated with clean records.

So… when is the cost of groceries going to go down? Rent? Ukraine war end?

May be some immigrants need to realize that staying in expensive cities will directly impact high rent, utilities, insurance etc.

I really don't understand why they want to be here so badly? We can barely afford rent. They can't even speak English and think they're going to get something we don't even have???
|
| 2025-02-03 | 0 |
Yeah… the issue is extremely simple. The cost to rent is too expensive. People who own property that rent are too greedy! It a very easy fix! Seriously. As far as the border.. it’s the country they are coming from to blame they didn’t just magically span there ? how many borders did they cross. Common sense

This is what one year of free rent provided by the USA government will do thanks to the Democrats. Why not come for free vacation for a year paid by the US

I work with people getting them housing and I can tell you that the major focus is housing illegals besides that rent is too expensive. We do have problem with housing people, besides that there are too many buildings. There is not enough money to pay rent forever for illegals and they are the majority to be house.
|
| 2025-02-02 | 0 |
I have a hard time believing that our government finds so much money to allow illegals to function. I’m a veteran so I have had the opportunity to visit other countries and you can’t pull that crap anywhere but here. You can’t work or rent or anything without proper paperwork. Our government should just takeover the Mexican government and end the corruption that keeps these talented and hardworking people down so much they risk everything to get here to do what they should be able to do there. So since they want to be over here so bad let’s just take the country and start taxing them like real Americans. Sorta like a new Puerto Rico but much closer.

This is absolutely the stupidest law ever. These people are thieves and felons and should be thrown directly in prison. Obviously this woman has plenty of money and this man does too why because they don’t pay their rent. I would place a lien on this guys business and if he wants to keep it and not make a bad name for himself, he’ll pay up. The woman I would take her to the cleaners she’s very well groomed and dressed, beautiful weave, keeps up on her looks, that’s for sure. Take her to court and sue the crap out of her too…losers!

When I've gone into Emergency here in Canada, you first check in and then wait for about 10 minutes to go through triage. They ask you why you've come and go over your symptoms. Then you go back and wait again. I've gone in for pneumonia at least twice. Both times I was sent for a quick check of my heart (because one of my symptoms was chest pain). When that came out fine, I was sent back to wait more. After about 20-30- minutes I was called to come into a more interior waiting area. There I just sat and dozed for several hours. Once I was in and out in 3 hours, which was really fast! Generally I count on a minimum of 5-6 hours from entry to exit. But I haven't gone in with life threatening problems. One was an injured knee. I just know that if I have to wait a long time, then I'm probably ok! If I got in too quickly, I'd worry! But there was no charge except to rent crutches one time and for the antibiotics I needed to go and get at the pharmacy. \nMy brother's first child was born a bit early but was very tiny. He had to stay in the hospital for about a month. He was also born by emergency C-section. At the end of all this, my brother said that the biggest expense was their parking bill for visiting so often. That would probably have been about $15 per day.

Canada needs the US more than the US needs Canada. Canada lives rent free under the protection of the US. Canada wants to tariff the US go ahead. The US has vast amounts of timber, coal, oil, beer, cheese ,bacon and strip clubs. We're good Canada.

Americans don’t seem to understand that all the “cool things to do and see in the USA” you don’t need to actually live in the USA to enjoy those we can just get on a plane and fly to those places for vacation just like Americans do. We had our honeymoon on Oahu, stayed two weeks in a VRBO in Waianaie with all the native Hawaiians, rented a jeep, drove around, saw all the things, felt bad for all the service workers who live only on tips under labor laws that a third world dictatorship wouldn’t even subject its people to.\n\nNotice how all the things Canadians criticize America for it’s for being needlessly cruel and horrible to people when there’s the option to be compassionate and supportive and ethical?\n\nBut then every thing Americans criticize Canada for it’s for being “too compassionate”, “too supportive”, “too caring” when the option American say we should have taken instead was the the option of unnecessary cruelty?

I blame all this on the Biden administration who PURPOSELY allowed masses of people from ALL OVER THE WORLD to enter this country illegally in the thousands per day with NO PLAN causing more economic hardship on already economically struggling Americans who many were forced to become homeless, loose their vehicles, loose their job, unable to pay rent or get assistance, and much more and when Americans discovered that people illegally entering the country were being given a \nSpecial debit card in the thousands $$$\nWere being given 2 yrs free rent\nWere being put ahead of those that were legally trying to get a green card after already waiting yrs to get in\nWere being given food stamps and other forms of help $$$$\nWere being given a FREE VEHICLE\nwere placed in jobs along with the federal monies \nWas something painfully and became wrongfully able for suffering Americans and Veterans to accept and voted for TRUMP!\nWhy? Democrats who were placing non Americans before AMERICANS and it became unacceptable!\nI’d like to see another country do what the Biden administration so illegally done!\nSorry ???\nCharity begins at home! We are voting you heartless Democrats out!
|

On every corner is a homeless Citizen or a Veteran sleeping on the sidewalk unable to get any sort of assistance, housing is scarce and rent is high, while many working Americans can barely afford to put food on the table, keep the lights on and pay rent?? \nThis is NOT ok. We need to ramp up the border security. What makes them think they can avoid deportation long term?? What makes them think they deserve assistance while our own people are suffering and dying on the streets? Why should we care about immigrants when we can't help our own people??! Make it make sense!! I didn't agree to give illegals a free ride while working my a$$ off while the threat of homelessness or extreme poverty hanging over my head every effing day!!!
|
| 2025-01-31 | 0 |
WHY HAS AMERICANS ENABLE THIS FOR YEARS?! You are your own biggest problem then you complain there is no job, pay is less and housing is high. Of course it’s going to be for you when these illegals get paid peanuts and take whatever jobs they can get and thousands of them need housing who’s chances are they taking for places to rent you think? What is rest skyrocketing and that affects the housing price u buy. First protect your borders don’t give False hope to these ppl coz they are fools who will make the long trip thinking they are in the promised land once they cross the boarder ??♀️??♀️??♀️

Too much immigration too quickly. Hospitals are packed. Rent is so high cause you can't house 3 million new people every 3 years!!

Twenty years ago in Toronto, a one-bedroom apartment could be rented for around $700 a month. Today, a similar apartment costs between $2,500 and $3,000 per month. The government should regulate housing market investments to prevent the pursuit of profits at the expense of ordinary people.
\nWith the large influx of immigrants of all kinds, there is increasing pressure on families and individuals to rent or buy housing. For instance, in one neighbourhood, a house has been fitted with two bunk beds per room, with the owner charging $500 to $700 per bed. One can only imagine how many people live in that house and what it looks like in the summer when everyone gathers in the backyard.
\nIf the government fails to regulate immigration to align with the real needs of the economy and housing market, what’s next? May people be forced to rent a bed for just eight hours of sleep or resort to living in sheds or makeshift plastic tents on the streets?
\nAnd when the economy takes a downturn, leaving people with no income, what will happen then?

Everything has just gone down hill health care , schools , over priced homes . Import the 3 world become the 3 world Canada relies on immigration with out it no one would want to live here. If you travel you realize there are better countries to live in other than Canada . This country is over hyped cars are being stolen. It’s just insane

I don’t like all this talk of “bad people”. I want every single one of them out of this country. I want my wages to skyrocket and my rent to plummet; that’s why the rich hate this. More for us, less for them.

There is in fact no actual housing shortage in the USA whatsoever. The problem is that that wealthy individuals have strong incentives to park excess capital in real estate and landlords have strong incentives to maintain asset values through cash flow potential (appraised through $/sq.ft rent revenues). What ends up happening in both cases is that you end up with lots of empty houses sitting collecting dust artificially gaining value due to scarcity, and with rentals, you end up with perpetually inflated rents and vacancy rates that are as high as a landlord can tolerate just to maintain the appearance of value to the lenders. Often these owners will borrow more money and use an apartment that might be 40% vacant as the collateral for the lender and go buy another building and so on. What people don't penalize is the fact that that 40% vacant building with 60% rented out at above fair value gets treated on the balance sheet to the bank as if its 90% rented out from an asset value perspective thereby setting the asset price artificially high. Simple legislation of the tax code can fix this issue and unlock lots of sidelined housing. All we have to do is progressively tax 2nd 3rd 4th ect. homes higher and higher rates that essentially cancel out the asset gains, and do something similar for vacant units in a apartment building. \nIts just at the core a case of the rich hoarding something that has been made artificially rare. On top of all of this, because of how valuable properties have become, there are now many interests that capitalize on the entire process of building new housing that make it ever more expensive. Our taxes are funding numerous regulators that stymie new development, while the developers have to then hire numerous attorneys and planners to pitch a project and litigate it through the cities to get approvals. This can take over 10 years in a major city. All this contributes to the ridiculous costs of building these days.

Wtf they think they’re gonna find here ? Even in the cheapest places, the wages are low in the US so you may be making 15 bucks an hour but it’s gonna cost you 1500 in rent. They need to understand coming here is not the answer.

Imagine you have your family, including small kids and older parents in your home and had one extra room for rent, you put ads out in the paper and interview some people for the spot, but while you are doing that, someone walked in your door and put all their things in your the room and then expected you to totally be cool with it. Anyone in their right mind, would be frustrated, even if that person was really nice and and said they'd pay rent. Any sane person would say, leave, go through the interviews, background checks, and then we'll see if it works out. It's not that you don't want to help them, but you have an order and a procedure that is in place for many reasons. \n\nImmigration is the same. It's not that the administration is anti-immigrant. We welcome ANYONE to come, you just need to come through the approved channels.

If you can't pay rent, to me it's straight forward you are not a good person go build your own house, that's when you will understand what it takes to build a house, please this shocks me, some one build a house puts it on rent and you are refusing to pay the rent that's not fair this breaks my heart

Many companies are laying off workers for economic reasons while prioritizing international students and temporary workers over Canadians because they can pay them lower wages. Now, in this time, qualifications, experience, and performance stopped mattering.
\nHow does the government expect Canadians to pay their bills, household expenses, and other costs in such a chaotic job market? How can Canadians compete with temporary students living in overcrowded rented houses, where multiple bunk beds are crammed into each room, and landlords charge $500 to $700 per bed?
\nWhat measures will the government take to address this growing crisis?

You have too many unemployed local born Canadians. The foreigners who know they came without permission shouldn't expect to be considered more important then the local citizens.\nA foreign business like a school program does not have the authority to permit folks to come to Canada. Nor do your cousins running businesses. Or foreign realtors selling you or renting housing. Or the foreign landlords convincing you they have the right to rent to you.
|
| 2025-01-23 | 6 |
This should include foreigners buying up homes and then renting them out at exorbitant prices.

NOTHING is happening here. Everything stays in limbo so they don’t have to deport. It’s sickening. My city IS NOW the third world, EVERYONE at food banks and inflated rents not changing!! Meanwhile they keep having more babies awaiting the “ approvals”.

There's no economy growth here for the millions of ppl the govt are pure in the country c.a not even have a trillion dollar company in the country, America has give trillion dollar company, that's why America so powerful and can do what they want, I'm saying what or these millions of ppl going to lived on live in the country food prices or through the roof right now it causing one person at least $300 a month so my question is where they going to livd under bridge the govt not building apartments building for the average ppl to lived so what going to happen to the average workers in Ontario, a one bedroom apartment is for $2500 plus light no average ppl can afford it. What even make it worse the govt give apartments owners the right to rase rent $60 a month when no employer paying the average workers $120 a month in Ontario that's why ppl or run out the the apartments building because its impossible for dem to keep up to that kind of rent.

If the government's worried about maintaining the same service standard maybe they should stop letting 500K people in every year. IMO, the border should be CLOSED until Canada gets a handle on the shortage of affordable housing and the pricing of housing in general comes back down to reality. Immigrants are causing rents and house prices to skyrocket because the demand is so high and the supply is so low.
|
| 2025-01-22 | 0 |
Out of control immigration drives up the cost to buy and rent houses, same issue here in Australia.\nWe can't builld enough houses in Australia to meet the demand. Many building companies went out of business when the price of materials increased but their contract price couldn't.\nCashed up immigrants who can afford higher prices effectively drive locals away from places to live. Homelessness is increasing in Australia.\nThe government then tries to build more social housing and pays the builders higher prices than a person building a private house can afford, which continues to increase the construction cost spiral. We now have $1M+ houses being built for people on welfare who only have to pay a maximum of 25% of their income, and that income is given to them by the government. People are better off being unemployed and living off government benefits and housing than to have a job paying less than $100k/yr.
