This is really gonna kill a lot of small online businesses that do commerce with the United States. We have a small stationary company that is just gonna die.

I don’t think the majority of Americans want this. I did not vote for Donald Trump and I’m sure a lot of people that did are regretting their decision. This is so sad and depressing and stressful. God bless us all.

I just watch mr trump speak with regards to tariff impose on canada mexico and china..he's proud in saying that a lot of foriegn companies will soon build factories and offices in the US. Providing billions of jobs and revenue. He said that if these companies would come to the United States where will be no tariff, lower taxes and easy life for the Americans. My question is: is he trying to kill other countries?? He said Ukriane is gambling with WW3, well i can say its WAR with GUNS..what he is doing is already WW3 using economic saborage...just my opinion...

I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

I was Infantry for 27 years and most recent Vets were raised in a DEI/Woke environment and on a good day, about 10% of Vets actually fight while the rest are in the 28th Mess Kit repair detachment, never been in danger and the first to whine that they have PTSD. I’m in Seattle and have a vacation home in British Columbia so go there often while renting out other days to other people. Wonder how the tariffs gonna affect this. For example if certain things need to be remodeled in my pad over in BC I usually order from suppliers in USA near the border since I use them for my home in Seattle too. I’m guessing it might get taxed now. Not sure how it will play out. I do know that initially tariffs gonna effect lot of people but do believe in general it will get economy better. I recently saw that Mexico been adding tariffs for years for certain USA goods (for example appliances purchased in usa from Mexico will cost another 27% etc) and it’s time for USA do similar things. Just hoping my burrito cost doesn’t keep going up. Was around 8$ several years back and now it’s 14$ in Seattle ?

What you don't understand is that all what we import from Canada we have here in US, we don't need to get it from Canada, they will have lot of problems if they will not find customer for their resources, Europe is in Putin pocket . Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

In WWII a lot of Canadian factories were converted to make armaments and aircrafts. They are needed around the world right now- especially by our friends in Ukraine.

Europe is happy to buy a lot of energy and other resources from Canada ??♥️??

Voice your anger at town halls, write your leaders, protest in the streets, and for god’s sake, stop buying Teslas!

You need to realize what Trump's real agenda is. All he really wants is money. He wants to make himself and his rich buddies richer. His plan to do that is to cut government spending radically, and impose a sales tax to fleece American consumers. Once he's got the cash flow the way he wants, he will cut corporate tax and capital gains tax so that his companies and his investments can make a lot more money and so can his rich buddies, while still being able to pay off his lackeys in the senate and congress. That's it. It is that simple. Everything else is a distraction to make the media forget his real plan.

Thank God Ireland is within the EU and not isolated to be abused by Trump. Canada should align more closely to the EU. I think there's a lot of cultural similarities.
