I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I live in El Salvador, but I've been thinking about moving somewhere in North America. The US is cool but, I don't want to run across all of the salvadorans who are already there LOL, I want something new. Also, I'd like to still live in, or at least not very far away, from the Americas. I'm too lazy to go to Europe, and have to learn the language there, sorry, I already speak Spanish and English well enough. Only Japan, or Brazil may change my mind, language wise (my Portuguese is enough so I could get by, and I'm also a Japanese music aficionado).\n\nOn the other hand, I love dressing very flamboyant, and, seeing how Canadians wear in the winter, with those huge sweaters and winter clothing, I wonder if it's the place for me ? (I know, that's a very ridiculous concern), also, I don't know if I'd get used to long winters. I've always said I don't like Salvadoran heat, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to trade that for Canadian winters.

And my life turned upside down this Friday by illegal immigrants here in Louisiana. They ran a red light, smash my car, totaled it. While running from border patrol and customs. I counted eight people running out of the vehicle and not one gave two shits to check on me, even though I was injured. Seven of them got away the only one they caught was a 14 year old Honduran child that claimed amnesty. So vehicle which they stole, which had stolen license plate, and apparently was full of stolen tools all was seized. The owners will be lucky if they get anything back since it is being held as evidence. I was told by My Attorney chances are my insurance will not pay me in full for my vehicle. Also, I only have a few payments on my car left, and I’m forced to pay it even though now I have no vehicle to get to work, because all my equity is tied up in it, funny thing is I recognize this kid from one of the jobsites down the street. They literally beat me in a bid on. Mind you only buy $400 differences I’m having to pay taxes it’s a joke when you say these people take jobs and no one else wants thing is it’s not jobs no one else wants it’s jobs that have become jobs. I was born and raised on the east coast of Canada, lived in Vancouver and visited Montréal Edmonton, Calgary with the acception of Winnipeg I’ve seen every major city in Canada. \n\nI will always have pride for my country and love for my family there but it has changed dramatically since 2010.\n \nI will say the transportation in Canadian cities are better and so is the crime and the food but you have to drive a minimum of an hour to get anywhere outside the city, your not leaving that city without a car and good luck surviving without a car outside the city, and VIA rail is way overpriced. The GO train is nice though.\n\nLiving in America it has changed a lot since covid too though people are a lot more desperate and you can feel it but people are too prideful to admit, where in Canada people are struggling and they dress and look terrible and fail to dress nice because there is less prideful.\n\nCanadians are not nice people they are passive aggressive and will not got out of their way to help you most of the time (modern day) kind of like Californians.\nThe east coast Americans are rude and trashy but they will help you if you show respect. Overall in America you are more free but in Canada you are more at peace. \n\nI’ve lived in America for six years and moved here at 20yrs so this is just my experience.

I think part of the reason America is regionally segregated is because of the history of segregation. It's definitely not as bad but I'd be stupid to say that if this was a white neighborhood for 100 years that it would dramatically change over the next few generations even though there's now permission to be there. I think in time America will become more mixed like they were describing Canada. I could also see Canada as being an exception to the rule, the European and middle eastern countries I've been to seem to have their segregated neighborhoods in a similar way to America.

The USA is getting a lot of people from Africa and South and Central America, and I imagine many will go back because Americans do have to work hard and if you come from a country that has warm weather year-round it is going to be a huge shock. Things are also changing like the American lifestyle. It is going to be different. To bad the new immigrants have not done their homework about where they want to live before dropping everything and leaving their home country.

All of things that you mentioned are true and all of them have drastically changed in the past 4 to 10 years with increased immigration. Smaller communities have had prices go up to 3 to 4 times what they were 6 years ago. Growing up here, prices were much lower - there was so much to do - cultural community activities were so much fun. Many Canadians can't go back to their home communities now because the prices have gone up so much. Many Canadians also want to be with their family and friends and not in a home - and do. We travelled all over North America when I was a child, and it was much easier to do then. In summary, I think that many of these things are very recent changes.

I thought America was dream and paradise where all problems cease to exist. Little did I know America is living nightmare and hellhole where real problems actually just started. Even financially wise, half of the USA population is so poor working for pocket change. Nothing left in the end of month. Everything is dark, soulless and tasteless. This is damned land. There is no life. Just work sleep and paying bills. There is no outdoor life. Even people you know you get chance to see them every 3 weeks. Everybody lives spread out from each other and work different jobs, different days and shifts. It's impossible to make friends. It's impossible to get normal girlfriend or any girlfriend. No human connection. No passion, no enjoy. Neighbors don't even talk to neighbors. Just emotional pain, loneliness and depression that can lead to SERIOUS psychological issues and consequences. While experiencing all this I actually thought something was wrong with me, like feeling of being under black magic attack, that's how serious it feels. I always wanted to live here and to see people from all over the world and hang out with them. However people here share same mentality, they are very reserved and alienated from each other. Nobody cares about each other here. People are also very close minded and hang out in their own groups like in prison, whites with whites, blacks with blacks and so on... People here don't realize they became androids and modern slaves. They put money first and left behind family, friends and love. It's best never to come here, you have to be an idiot if you think happiness exist in America. Stay on your own land.

I am a 62 year old Canadian and I do believe things in North America were'nt always this way. I grew up in a semi-rural area. We knew who our neighbours were and knew a lot about them . In those days it was unnatural for kids to spend most of their days inside rather than running around the neighbourhood. Most people either were connected to a church or the Legion etc. There would be hockey , church dinners etc. That drew people together. Too much has changed but I don't think is consumerism alone that is the cause.

I can agree with these comments if your not American, growing up we had all that interaction with family, friends and neighbors. Life n times have changed in America due to gun violence, especially in large cities. Socializing is different in every state in America and in every country. I can understand how if your not accustomed to our ways of life even today, that you would prefer your ways of living back in your hometown and your Country. If you live in a big City in America and moved there from a smaller town in America, you will be feeling some loneliness, that's normal to us in America. Block parties, cook outs, neighborhood meetings, bus trips to the beaches, weddings and Saturday clean ups were all apart of our past community's. Yes some still exist. However, anytime Blacks in America have demanded equity, justice, education, health rights, human rights, and fair housing, we are met often with a back lash. Suddenly, rents go up. Houses have doubled or tripled in increase. Crime waves have made it almost impossible for people to come out and relax freely. Political changes have also played a major roll. Neighborhoods have been redlined. Even where one goes to vote has been moved. White racism and fear, entire industry's have moved put of key areas. So thete is a natural break down. Neighborhood meets come to a end and different organizations from schools, to planting trees to parking all get affected due to such changes. Local small businesses that knew each family members also close up and leave. Its not a question of oh you have everything you need in your American house. That is not it! Its more complex. The lack of kids playing out front or the older ladies keeping watch have disappeared also due to no rent control policies.

This change is going on in Europe as well - not only America, however its very different in each part of Europe. USA is a huge country, with very different climates and communities, so lets not generalize. In Europe, i am from central eastern europe, yes, ppl tend to stay more and more at home, since the internet age. In the 80s more kids were outside, but its still way more community friendly than in some parts of the US where they dont even have sidewalks on the streets. In Europe, southern ppl still spend much time outside (spain, italy, greece), and the dutch, scandinavians, germans are traditionally colder ppl. The rest is technological change + covid effect and lazyness. + ppl are stuck to mainstream media which pumps them full of shit, fear and they are scared from each other - and try to compensate with buying more useless stuff.

Babyboomers have raised their kids into a very protective bubble. The consequence of this is laziness and fear of everything. which also reflects on how poorly the economy is doing, since a lot of young people dont want work, are not creative, not resourceful, very dependent, addicted to food, drugs and video games. @ Make That Change, you are missing some topics!! A person who is born and raised in Vancouver before the 1980's and where both parents were also born and raised in Canada. Since the year 2000, the cost of owning a detached home has risen 10 folds. You could buy a corner lot house in a nice area and good location for an average of $160,000. Now that home would cost 10 times that cost in the last 20 years. Why? Foreign investors and immigration based on supply and demand as this also includes the increase in rent cost. People spend on average about $1000 to 1500 for a room to rent not their own suite in Vancouver. Twenty years ago, you could rent a whole house with a yard for that price on the waistcoats of BC. \n\nAnother issue, there are Canadians who do travel to USA due to people being in desperate need of care. USA has a wider spectrum of medical options in comparison to Canada. Canadians travel to USA because the waiting list is often way too long. Canada is nota complete free medical system as people hear and rehabilitation expenses are not free unless it is inside a hospital. It was from at one time as Medicare was founded on the grounds in the 1960's by Tommy Douglas, former premier of Saskatchewan, who initiated Medicare but it was no sustainable. \n\nJust because a person gets referred to a doctor, particularly a specialist when there are very few doctors in that area of care, it does not guarantee you will receive the treatment. I waited 2.5 years for a treatment in a hospital, only to be told that I was not a candidate for that treatment even though they did not screen me as a precursor before making a rational decision. DEVESTATING! Canadians if they have money often go to USA or Mexico when in desperate need. \n\nThere is a lack of doctors as many people do not have a family medical doctor who know their case personally. Complex diseases do not receive proper care as Canada does not have an integrated medical system of care amongst other doctors for patients. It has been on the news media where people have died being on the waiting list, returning back to hospitals where the hospital emergency because the concern of the disease was undermined with the overcrowded medical system.\n\nThere is a increased gentrification in the metropolitan cities that is an issue as the richer are now richer and the poorer are more poor. As there is an INCREASED immigration there is a huge stress in cost of living as there is not enough affordable housing and increased homelessness in Vancouver and Toronto. Vancouver is the worst place in North America as it is known as the drug hub called Skid Row. You can google this information as there are article written for 2021 and previously. Expo 86 and the 2010 Winter Olympics skyrocketed tourism and immigration that many people who are born and raised here before 1986 are very angry and resentful of how drastic the decline of how the quality of life has become.

You guys need to explain why Canada's waiting line is so long. Canada prioritizes the patients into the worst conditions first like cancer over a broken leg.
