It's not the US it's dumb ass Trump!!! What American president does stupid stuff like this with Allies? Oh yeah Trump!

As an American, I am very sad to see our neighbors and friends pull away from us. All of these decades of working together to achieve the greater good for the world; destroyed by one man's selfishness, greed, and delusion. Don't get me wrong, he's supported by people that worship him and are pushed on by their own delusions of grandeur and selfishness. They can't see the immovable, solid wall they are hurdling towards. I hope in the future, our past friends and allies are willing to take us back once these fools get kicked out.

I thought Canadians generally are not super-nationalistic like the Americans, and Trudeau is not exactly very popular too. But somehow the current US government external policy managed to change both of that. And if the course is not changed ASAP, it will take generations to recover the relationship.

Canada is very lucky to have true leader in PM Trudeau …I’m embarrassed by how Trump is acting. Canada please forgive us as this is not the American way.

I hope Canada realizes tens of millions of us don't want this either. Don't call it the American tariff. Call it trump's tariff. That is what it is.

Trump is doing the same thing to Australia. The US has a trade surplus with us so tariffs make even less sense. Americans are turning on their close allies and siding with Russia. Insane.

Dear Justin, 75 million Americans voted against Donald Trump in the recent election. We appreciate your speaking directly to us today and in recent speeches you have given. We know what a good ally you have been to the US and we also know your primary concern is to Canadian citizens. While many of us have done what we could do and we also know the current trade arrangement was negotiated with you by Donald Trump in his previous term which leaves many of us scratching our heads. For my part it deeply saddens me that this has happened and all we ask or all that I ask is that you remember those of us who did not vote for this. Slightly less than half of the country. When this is over, and it will end one day we look forward to breaking bread with Canada again.

Trump thinks he can control the world and extort money to line his pockets...Trump is revegeful, boastful and even the late QE knows that is also a balatant thief ...there is absolutely nothing good about him ....anybody else who is found guilty in the US are subjected to a prison sentence but Trump will corrupt the even the justice system so that he can wilfully commit more crimes and not be sentence to prison but can go on freely to commit more criminal acts. I am never a fan of our Prime Minister but today, he got my full respect and admiration. We all know it is not about Fentanyl or illegal immigrants crossing from Canada as little as they were. Donald Trump is just using these as excuse. He is cozying up with US' one of two prime adversaries - Russia and China - and whacking friends and allies, alienating the United States. Donald Trump probably is considering authoritarian rule over democracy. I can't wait for the day that his dumb action will whack him back. I will miss my Prime Minister Trudeau. He speaks for me, and I know, many others . . . .we aren't interested in buying American goods. We aren't interested in visiting the states. We are focused, at this point, on our own economy. In the last month I have discovered a few gems, produced by local businesses within 100 miles of where I live. I'm Canadian and have never seen our society so united. Donald is picking a BS fight. I have heard from dozens of people in my life alone say they will not buy American or visit the US for the next 4 years. Canada, tell me: What is the difference between an assistant drama teacher and a smart person? A drama teacher will fight a losing battle against an economic giant that doesn't need Canada as much as Canada needs him. For Americans, the high cost of Canadian goods will just make them turn to non-Canadian substitute products; for Canadians, we cannot help but buy US products despite the higher costs because we don't have a lot of alternatives. In the long run, Canada will cave in and become the 51st State. Why don't we skip the hardship part and just go straight to where we become part of an economic giant!

American stuff is all over the place in this country... my Bosch D/W and washing machine are both made in USA... heck even our toilets are American Standard... and simultaneously we supply USA and ROW with high quality products that meet or exceed ASTM standards... so please do let us know how that Russian aluminum and steel works out because everything I've every seen from Russia is a fucking joke... there's absolutely nothing in my life that say Proudly Made in Russia because only the oligarchs are proud to be Russian.

How is he defending Canadian jobs? The whole point of tarrifs is to make it unprofitable for American companies to use Canada for things like manufacturing, energy and other natural resources.\n\nThe liberal government is who made us weak where we depended on the trade deficit in our favour.
