I moved to Canada as a child with my parents 41 years ago. It isn't just inflation and cost of living that is the problem. It's the dramatically increasing racism and discrimination, even against people who have been living in this country longer than the racists discriminating against them. Seriously? This is not the Canada that I came to as a child, grew up in, or have lived and worked in for many decades. I made the mistake of working around the world for a short time and picking up an accent that wasn't even mine originally. I had a Canadian accent before finishing elementary school. To come back to be asked to go home or 'we don't want your sort here' is not just simple racism, but hatred that makes me regret ever having agreed to taking on Canadian citizenship. My kids and grandchildren have Canadian accents and were Canadians from birth. But should they leave and return to the same crap??? What disgusts me more is that the PM dares to include immigrants with refugees, under the banner that 30% of the population are immigrants. Under the law, refugees are temporary migrants and usually nothing more. To bundle immigrants who came to Canada through legal means of applications, brought hundreds of millions dollars into Canada with them of their own hard-earned money from their own countries, to have it taxed out of them, and their families deliberately put into poverty so Canada can fulfil its 19th century-PM Macdonald immigration policy of, and I quote from a Canadian federal government website, quoting PM Macdonald directly, about breeding out the Indigeneous people, is beyond sick! The refugees get a free ride at the expense of hard-working Canadians, 90% of whom came from immigrant stock! What happens when Trudeau says these deceitful lies about legal immigrants is that the racism and discrimination increases dramatically. I have been left in agony in hospital due to evil racist Canadians who thought that my accent meant that I had just flown in yesterday and what right did I have to be there? Canada used to be a good country, but when a person has to keep explaining where they got their job experience from and if they have any Canadian experience for every time that they look for a job in their lifetime in Canada, something is very wrong with Canada. Most jobs in Canada are blue collar and very few are white collar, yet Canada still continues to deceive the world into believing otherwise. Canada is a great vast and beautiful land, but only a small percentage of it has any infrastructure, roads, or homes sufficient to house what is a decreasing fraction of society. Refugees take preference over immigrants and citizens alike. The lie about the homeless is getting bigger. Most homeless Canadians today are veterans, elderly, disabled, mentally ill, poor, and professionals and trades people, yet Canada brings in countless professionals, claiming that their education and experience will get them into the professions that they are coming from. It's all a scam! Canadian education is not the best and yet people with better educations and job experience are being forced to spend all their money to go back to university or college to get jobs that they rarely will be hired for. Canada is not short of doctors, just short of professionals who hire professionals without using discrimination, hatred and racism for their HR kit! Many taxi drivers are doctors, engineers, and so on. So, please stop lying to the world and tell the truth. And no doubt this entry will be taken down because it offends a Canadian who doesn't want the world to know the truth.

I am a naturalized Canadian citizen. Born and raised here. I totally understand why you would want to leave. Canada is broken. ! Thank god I am nearing retirement. As soon as I get my Pensions ( money I have contributed all of my life ) I'm out of here.....reason # 8, Tired of freezing my ass off.

I'm a canadian in my late 20s and now I can't even afford a home. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against all the people that have came here, but there has been too many in too short of a time period. The government should've propped up the infrastructure to accommodate these immigrants before initiating this plan of overimmigration. Sure you are giving us a first time home buyer credit and only allowing individuals with a PR to purchase a home, but there is still an underlying issue of how born and raised citizens are now struggling. I cannot imagine how much worse it is for those who are coming here for an education. Not to include the lack of jobs, it is a tough job market out there as well, I may have to move to the US to have a professional career, which is not ideal because I want to stay in Canada.

I came here as an international student, back then you could only get your PR if you studied at an accredited university, not a career college. Back then skilled workers were required, and that is how you were able to get a PR. Canada has changed so much, multicultural has left and more and more there are two cultures dominating. I came here because I use to visit for our annual holidays then decide I liked the culture and wanted to study here. The landscape has shifted , Canadians will soon be the minority and that is not the Canada I want to be paying taxes in. \nThere are always protesters waving foreign flags demanding that the government help their families, love ones in another country, meanwhile Canadians here are loosing their homes , can't afford food, basic life necessities and living in tents. Charity should start at home first.\nResponsible tax payers cannot afford to have kids, why because the taxes we pay are too high, if we're struggling to survive why would we subject a child into this world to experience the same. However, there are millions of dollars in incentives for people who never paid in to come to Canada with their extended family members who are dependent on government support, that we the taxpayers have to finance. The aging population could be address if the affordability could be address for citizens living here and PAYING taxes. If the government wants to bring in aging populations who never worked in Canada, their families should be funding their living here including healthcare, not taxpayers. Invest in your people first , help Canadians become more skilled to fill positions that there are shortages, lower taxes to allow Canadians to have said families and replenish the population , these are the people who would always put Canada first.

I am an international student, just wanted to ask Canadian people, why target international students, i am from India, i can guarantee that any Indian student coming to Canada brings at least 100k investment that directly gets used by the Canadian economy. Canada's Student population doubled in 3 years and Canada went from 7th highest Foreign Student Population per capita to 2nd, so the Canadian Student housing situation worsened quickly. Canada has seen NO drop in citizen applications and still refuses far more applications then it approves. International students should be allowed to train and learn in Canada. That should not be a green light to immigration however. We need to go back to an organized immigration policy that accepts new citizens based on merit and who want to embrace Canadian culture, not erase it.

One issue you did not talking about is the international students taking the Canadian universities space from the Canadian citizen students. Especially for doctorate degrees canada government allowed only 3% of Canadian student to enter to this program the same as for dentist, laws and other this is unjust, and discrimination against the canadine citizen students after all those international students are not Canadian citizen and their English languish is the second languish, why a Canadian citizen student have to go to USA or other countries and pay doubles fees in order to get in to those programs. \nI want the government canada in order to make it right approving 97% of Canadian student application for those programs in all universities in canada and only 3% application for international students. I'm only halfway through but feel I need to comment and well I'm not exactly a new Canadian. But I was born the but grew up in New Zealand. And well why not . I moved over there in 2014 with full rights as a citizen. My trade wasn't recognised. Canada has its own rules about everything. You need to have training to pour drinks in a bar wtf.! But yea I came wanting a better life and well thankfully I wound up in Calgary so eventually I had the money to leave. And come home where know having seen the Canadian shit show I'm killing it here. Real estate in Australia is expensive because the nation is highly successful and ordinary citizens are wealthy, and this includes real estate, plus with 3 billion middle class Asian's right above Australia the Asian economy dwarfs the US economy to insignificance. Job opportunities are dictated by the fields the economy needs - oil is insignificant in Australia compared to other industries. Geographic Isolation - Thank god the rest of the world is far away, as an Australian I wish it was further away. Air fares prior to pandemic were reasonable USA to Australia around $800 return - but this guy lives in Perth so to go 4-5,000km to the east coast will be expensive - on the east coast a one way ticket to another city can be had for around $50 to $80 - Again for Australians proximity to the US market is not significant we are focused on the Asian region. Natural beauty anywhere is amazing but I prefer a warm climate over a frozen one - The Canadian population is all centered around the US/Canadian border region the rest of Canada like central Australia is vastly empty. In conclusion I find many immigrants want to move from Australia to Canada is proximity to the USA but for Australians the US market or lifestyle is not attractive or important.

It is not a big market compared to some of the countries compared to Europe. \n\nMore people = more demand = more big companies want to compete =lower prices for consumers and less inflation .\n\nJust some thoughts on this last day of 2023z happy new years all .

Canadian government puts refugees and immigrants above Canadian born citizens.\nDon't be fooled.\nCanadian born citizens are taxed to death so more immigrants and refugees can be brought in.\nWe have had enough.\nOur homeless population and drug addiction has sky rocketed since our current Prime Minister came into power.\nAnd the government wants to allow half a million more into our Country yearly.\n\nThey are not wanted here!

As a Canadian I feel we all need to stay and fight for our Country. And by that, I mean educating those around us as to why we should vote against certain political views ie: communism/marxism and socialism, as we see being practiced by the Liberals and ndp. Vote for those who respect Canada's Traditions and Values and our National Identity. None of us want to live in a Post-National State, as Trudeau promised when he was elected!! Vote for those who believe in Freedom for all Citizens. We are still a Democracy and everyone's vote counts! Stay with us and Vote!

Born and bred Canadian here, I just wanted to weigh in on the hospital issues spoken of @ 9:20. \n\nA HUGE contributor to this problem is one that everyone seems to be afraid of addressing; immigration. \nThose of us who have lived here and paid taxes all our working lives to contribute to the health care system are the ones who should be getting the best use of it. \nMake no mistakes here, if someone moves here and works to contribute to the hospital funding, that’s fantastic and I hold absolutely nothing against them using the system they contribute to. \n\nThe problem I have is when they bring their elder family who will never, and have never, contributed to this system. Then they have no qualms with clogging up waiting rooms and doctor’s offices waiting for care that WE all pay for, born Canadians and legal citizens alike. \n\nI know there will be some brain dead folks who want to cry racism here, but it’s simply an observation. If you want to jump on the bandwagon and yip about imagined racism then just keep scrolling

As a Canadian, I would not move to the states. But that being said I would love to spend a lot more time visiting state side. My GF is a US citizen but she want to move here to Canada while her children want to stay state side.

It is not easy to become a Canadian citizen. It would be truly unfortunate. If an immigrant went there worked hard to become a citizen and then later become disgruntled and want to leave. I’m sure it’s expensive to live there, but I’m sure that there are ups and downs to every country that we can go to.

I am one of those after and 33 years in Canada .I am 70 years old and still working to make living. Last week I watched our government meeting. They want to help Canadian citizens help with heating expenses with heat pump. Just think how long will be to install to each house heat pump? ( first cost and Canadian climate no works anyway)No one this people didn’t say we are oil country just built refinery and make heating cheaper. On thanksgiving I was sick and go to the emergency in Winchester hospital and after 2 hours waiting the nurse told me today is waiting time to see doctors is 12 hours and I went home. That other reason.

As a Canadian, I want to leave. This country is shameful and the politicians are corporate puppets who don't care about citizens or social stability. No one I know owns a house (we're in our 30s in Toronto) and very few people can even save up due to rising cost of living. The censorship and blocking of news is so dystopic. This is just a sinking ship at this point and I want my kids to have a viable future.

Why doesn’t the Canadian government focus on its own citizens to grow the population and economy if that is their major goal. Why not make it more affordable for young Canadians to start a family? We spend $6B a year on bringing in immigrants, why not increase the child benefit with these funds? Why not teach good family values in Canadian schools and promote healthy relationships? Instead our government lets in young adults who aren’t vetted and want to work in retail/tech and bring their parents their grandparents their uncles and aunts over from their home country who then live off of CPP after not paying one penny into it. (This is what I have seen in my town, may not be representative of all of Canada)

Canadian government is telling/ordering companies to hire migrants over Canadian born citizens. That is why young people are not getting jobs, they apply and never get called, yet the stores advertise ¨Help Wanted.¨

?? Canadian born citizens are leaving or have left like myself due to the nonsense by the government! Since the pandemic freedom is non existent in Canada ?? when the government decides what enters your body, you can’t say you re free next thing you know they will force you to wear clothes they want you too! Yes when the free benefits run out it's on to the next country for more free benefits. If you are coming to Canada you are coming to become Canadian just like the rest of us. The average Canadian is living paycheck to paycheck and don't receive any of the free benefits that newcomers receive when they come to Canada. Like the song goes ,we built this city, and now you want to move in and take over. Like I said that only third generation citizens should receive benefits from Canada because we built this country in our image, a Christian community with Christian values and holidays.

So we don't have the financial resources to support them, we have no housing for them and likely won't for the next 100 years based on our current building rate and we don't have jobs that pay enough to afford the exorbitant rents. So it's better for everyone if they go somewhere else where they can live peacefully. We have made Canada an immigration unfriendly country and conservative governments continue to make sure that that stance is maintained by not building affordable housing or investing in supports for citizens and only giving money to close political corporate allies. Most Canadians don't want immigrants here at all if they don't have jobs and can't afford to live without burdening the social system.

Out of touch with citizens . Look at the crime in greater TO . Canadian government is making me sick . What I have noticed for decades is immigrants whose sons do what they want when they want and too often become gangsters . No thanks to sons from messed up families , religious fanatics and war torn countries .

I came to Canada with family as a PR holder (without a job) and my point of view is completely different. Now I am a Canadian citizen after 6 years. My view is always towards my kids future which are brighter than in India I believe. My kids (now citizen) can travel and work in Canada, India, US, UK etc. without any Visa. They are OCI as well and can enjoy life in India in future if they want. What do I want more? Initial 5 to 6 months is a struggle is for everyone though.
