It's cheaper to live in Dallas Texas than Montreal, which is one of the cheapest cities to live in Canada, so I don't know where you're getting lower cost of living (and yeah I heard you're trying to compare apples to apples, but this is impossible and honestly, wtf would someone want to live in a crime ridden city like NYC? Which btw is around the same housing cost as Vancouver..)\n\nAlso, I'm not sure if you guys pay taxes, but this is a HUGE factor; take home income in Canada is much lower, and when you consider Americans get paid the same as us but in US funds, their taxes are a joke, so their disposable income is much higher.\n\nCanada is a country where mediocrity is celebrated, it's a good country for average intelligence type people who don't or won't earn high incomes , who don't want to own businesses - yeah it's perfect for them , but I was born and raised here , and trust me seeing 60-65% of my income going to cumulative taxes is disgusting.\n\nOh and for the record, someone earning average income of $50k in Canada gives up 46% of that to cumulative taxes - this is a fact you guys seemed to have left out.\n\nFor good looking women, bro once again, Montreal born and raised, the quality has dropped severely - a lot of hairy legged far leftist anglo types taking over, it's not what it used to be....\n\nLived in both, once again, Canada celebrates its mediocrity, the US is where you go to make bank and build a business - And Toronto is the most racially self segregated city in the world....

I’m traveling rn, so I talk to a lot of internationals about the pros and cons of American. The greatest pros would be we are definitely the land of opportunity, so if you want make a lot of money there’s no country better. The people also have this optimism about the future that’s not as prevalent around the world, and the country is very diverse which means you can find a state that matches you want. However the downsides would be the stark wealth inequality, and lackluster healthcare. The polarization between the left and right, and the crazy urban sprawl which you never get used to.\n I think the inequality is due to us having this bootstraps mentality when it comes to success. Whenever I tell other Americans how lucky I am they’re quick to say that it’s all due to my worth ethic, but life is a lot more nuanced. Regardless I still love my country, and can’t see myself living anywhere else. ??

Worst part of Canada is how increasingly Left it's becoming. Two left wing parties dominate our country and will for the foreseeable future. Our right wing party isn't even remotely close to right wing like the US (it's center-right). We're trending toward left wing insanity.

Fake politeness is not kindness, Canadians are passive aggressive and backstabby. Some of the worst traffic on the planet with the worst drivers. Canada is graduating more doctors now than ever before. The problem is that the good ones leave for better salary and opportunities. What we're left with are the crappy doctors who could not land a job in the private sector if their lives depended on it. Hence the results of our present system. The thing I don't understand is that you have citizens who have been living here for generations, fought and died in wars to protect our prosperity, paid taxes, etc but yet an immigrant will get a GP before them. Something is wrong with that! Nothing against immigrants btw, it's not their fault. But on an ethical level this should not be occurring. Here in Quebec you will also be discriminated against when seeking healthcare if you are not white and French speaking. So don't come here if you don't fall under that demographic. You will be poorly treated.

Outdoor activities in both winter & summer\n\n5 - Cry me a river!\n\n6 - SMH\n\n7 - Leaving Canada to go back to where you’re unsafe, unsteady power supply & almost non-existent healthcare?\n\n8 - It’s a huge trade-off, I left Canada 9 months ago to the West Coast of the US & couldn’t stop talking about escaping sub zero temperatures BUT putting everything on the table, Canada works out best for & I’m looking forward to moving back. \n\n9 - Which countries does Canadian passport allow you to live & work in?\n\n10 - This I agree, it’s a high regulated society & it could be a turn off.\n\n11 - False! In a country where 37.5 hours is considered fulltime? How many federal holidays does Canada have? If you’re working 10 jobs to stay afloat, that’s absolutely on you, it’s not a “Canadian issue”.

I do watch many videos about the topic. First of all there's no place like home. As a human we will have tendency to resist to change. Choosing to leave a country whatever the reason will always be hard, you left a culture, family and so many good things. Diversity in a country like Canada is a good thing sometimes because somewhere somehow you find link to home. Imagine as a French Canadian like I am, I am consider as an immigrant in my own country. The natives came first from Asia, English took over the country which left us with no country we can call home. Many immigrants will say that French is an obstacle and don't understand why we need laws to keep it, we took our place following negotiations with the native not by conquest and always need to fight to keep that space because we're not making babies anymore and do need immigration like the rest of the country. That being said it brings the sensitive topic of jobs. There's types of jobs you do need Canadian experience, in Canada the construction codes are different from even a region versus another one. Do you know that St-Lawrence river is sitting on a tectonic plate and you need to construct a building which can resist a earthquake? What Canada need to do because we do lack of people on those job, is to provide fast track to help them having Canadian experience. They don't need anatomy courses, human here are pretty much the same but they need to know what medication is legal in Canada. Finally, all is on setting expectations, don't expect to feel at home in here, it take in average 3 generations to really feel at home, so be ready to feel pushed aside, be ready to live in a area where you will find mostly people of common cultural background. You will feel left over and pretty much alone. The only solution to be happy in here is embrasse change, go out of your comfort zone, embrace the local culture, talk to people from different backgrounds. There's a difference between multi cultural and integration. Sharing is caring, share your culture and your food, and most of all don't think you have the best way of life and other people don't understand. When you think everyone is wrong is usually a sign that you're the one who is wrong. Racism weirdly don't have a culture, a race or a religion, it's individual.

I also think they're senior parents don't qualify for canada or old age pension, they never worked here a day in their lives..there will be nothing left in 10 years when I retire\nTrudeau needs to go ..!!

I was born and raised in Canada. My family immigrated in the 70s. Growing up I was proud to be Canadian but after living in other parts of the world I can tell you, Canada isn't it! \n\nFirstly our Prime Minister is a puppet he works for the Commonwealth and whatever they say goes, they profit off all of your hard work. \nThey keep you sick so you rely on the health care system. Medicate you instead of solving the problem. Doctors are exhausted, rude and over worked, emergency rooms are a disaster and if you book an appointment to see your doctor...be sure you're waiting at least a week. If you go to a walk in clinic you risk getting a doctor that seems like they paid for a fake degree.\n\nYou know when you go to a mall in one town and then hear about a mall in another town that has really cool different things??? Ya, not here! Everything is monopolized! Same stores everywhere you go. there's a mall in Toronto called Vaughn Mills mall, when I was in Calgary they have an exact replica just a different name. Small businesses are hard to keep because everything is so expensive. There needs to be more indoor things for people to do in the winter. \n\nWhoever said Canadians are polite, has never been to Alberta!!!! I've never experienced racism in my life like I did out west, not just Alberta but also Northwest Territories and Manitoba. \n\nOn top of that they want everyone to be gay and not believe in God, they push the agenda so hard in the schools, they institutionalize and confuse your kids. If you believe anything different they literally hate you. The children are hypersexualized...teenage girls looking like they're 30 year old drag queens. They bully kids so badly in school, especially boys. Parents have no time to get involved because they're busying working multiple jobs to pay for their 4000 dollar mortgage, husband and wife barely see each other. And because they're not involved the children have no respect for their elders or teachers. the teachers don't care to get involved like they used to because everything's a liability...a problem. We had a 13 year old girl call a male teacher a pedophile for pushing a little girl on the swing. He quit on the spot, because now he's worried for his career. I live in Ontario all my life, born here. LOL Canada is a TRAP! All the government want out of immigrants is to suck you dry of life money and labor. It starts the second you step off the plane as you said, Canada will NOT recognize any of your certificates or education and make you re-certify yourself.... at a cost. Today you’re healthy and working and hate paying taxes, tomorrow you’re sick and unemployed and you get those taxes back. Many leave their own country, and come to Canada BECAUSE of their dislikes; extremism, culture, religion, laws, identity and in some cases backwards thinking; attempt to turn what we in society would consider as sexist, and discriminatory in some examples….\n\n…however when those same individuals finally achieve citizenship, or in some cases this starts (attempt to change Canadian law(s)) before obtaining citizenship, making moves to force the above, everything they despised, hated or disliked about their own country, into this new country ? Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was asked what it really mean to love your neighbor?  So He told a story about a weary traveler who was robbed, beaten and left alone alongside of the road (Luke 10:25-37). An ordinary man saw him and kept walking. Another very religious person ignored him, too. But the person who actually stopped and did something was someone a bit unexpected. That person was the Good Samaritan. We all know the story — a kind person stops to help another person. But it means a bit more. In the story, the traveler and the Samaritan could not be more different. They came from different cities. They had very different views. Some might even say that these two people would have hated one another. Yet despite their differences, the Samaritan chose to love his neighbor. Even though the neighbor wasn’t really his neighbor at all. Our neighbor isn’t just the person next door. Our neighbor is the person God has placed right in front us. And no matter how different, how inconvenient or how unexpected, we’re asked to love our neighbor well. 1 corinthians 13:4-8 tells us Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

People don’t understand the reasons why people flee their home countries in the first place. They’re seeking refuge from public threats that their governments have failed countless time to crack down on. My grandparents and my own mother came here from Mexico illegally, but they eventually became naturalized US citizens through hard work, hope and determination. They left because of the rampant crime and violence taking place in the streets of Monterrey, Nuevo León. I was born here in this country in 2003, by sheer fortune alone. But that couldn’t have been possible if my family didn’t sacrifice all they had, just to be able to feel safe. It’s not lack of security, it’s lack of compassion and being able to understand what other humans go through. Fear-mongering and generalization of a certain group is atrocious, and should by no means be tolerated. Only through fair evaluation and hard work should a person be judged.

It's so blatant what's going on now. This isn't about race. This is about divide. Whoever these people are who are telling what these companies/media to say are clearly trying to get us fighting each other. It really seems like they're trying to divert attention. If we're all fighting each other we're not paying attention to what's happening to the side. \n\nPlease people. Right, left, black, white, blue, yellow, atheist, or religious. We need to come together. They are using our beliefs against us. I know it's hard to see other's views when they are so radically different than your own, but we have to look at the bigger picture.

I've traveled Turtle Island from top-bottom & left-right Canada is just as bad if not worst than America when we open our eyes. \nDisgusting display of hubris when Canadians state we're better than America.

As someone who under saw evictions in montreal for many years i can confirm that the tenants i usually had to deal with for not paying rent were of color, the residences most often left in a total mess, with destroyed property and infestation were more often than not those of colored people. property owners have little to no power once they've signed a contract, it makes sense that they're careful of who they allow to rent from them.

The great danger of Muslim's in the west is that they're a 5th column. While many Muslim's in Canada are moderates, when Islam becomes a powerful force in Canada and the terrorists take over the the Islamic parties, the moderates will bend the knee and support them. The radicals will take over as the moderates won't challenge them. Just like what's happening in the US with the far left taking over the Democrat party, the moderates are too afraid to stand up to the radicals so they end up supporting them.

My parents live in Ontario and they’re Muslim. My Mom doesn’t wear either head scarf or a face covering, however she does wear it while praying at home or at the mosque.\n\nWhy I left Islam is a very long story. It didn’t seem right how after 9/11 Muslims around the world were celebrating, including my uncles and cousins back home. I came to Christ in 2010 and I’m so blessed to be saved by grace. I’m so glad I have a choice to love God and not forced any more. I’m really worried for this lady Farzana, I’m sure she gets death threats by other Muslims. I experienced it myself when I told a Muslim man I no longer practiced Islam, and that I’m a believer in Christ. He was furious! I told my parents how I got away and even though they are devout Muslims, they realize how I am in danger and my Mom told me I shouldn’t tell other Muslims about my faith. I told her I wasn’t gonna deny Jesus. She worries about me but I told her, I know my destiny for a fact. I had a personal encounter with Jesus and there’s no way I can deny Him. My only prayer is my family will know Christ and one day we will be in heaven together. I’m looking forward to that day. I honestly don’t want to be here in this awful, world where there is so much hate. I want to be with my Savior soon. I don’t even care if I’m killed by a Jihadi. If that’s how God will show my parents how corrupt Islam is then so be it. I just want them to know Christ.

Does criticism of Islam amount to racism? Why is it OK criticize communism, nazism and other supremacist ideologies, but as soon as you attach the word divine to the same ideas, then they're off limit? I am Iranian. I was born in a Muslim family. I have been educated in Islam and experienced Islamic, sharia based rule for most of my life. And I have the same concerns as this man. Islam is a brutal supremacist ideology that is incompatible with critical thought, personal freedoms, democracy, rule of law and pretty much everything else that we take for granted in the modern world, that came out of Western Enlightenment. Once muslims become the majority, they will do the same thing as they have done everywhere else where they've taken control. Look at what they're doing in England and France in Majority Muslim areas. Look around the world today and see what Islam leads to. You will put your head in the sand at your own peril. I left my home in my own beautiful and ancient country. I will not do it again in my new home...

hardware stores and walmart may be the only stores left. maybe we should protest these stores closing because it will contribute to the rise in unemployment. to save a few dollars may not be such a great thing when people are fired 2.1 million at walmart alone thats approx 41,000 per state can the state's unemployment benefits sustain that. look what happens when 2,000 per state are unemployed. employers are only concerned with profits we should be concerned with the workers. damn saving $20.00 a month. if we look at just our personal profit margins we're all going to pay in the end.

Yea, but the immigrant ( all races) kids get far better grades in school, and that generation pays 30% tax every year of their 100k salary... Solution is to use these people and figure out how they will help this county in the next 30 years, not tomorrow. Look at how Irish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Italian etc.. came as first gen immigrants (to this native land). Cold.. lost.. try to use their wits to survive in a colonial economy. That second generation built what we have now. Immigration is a god damn economical strategy man... Issue with homelessness, has nothing to do with immigration. Homelessness is related to addiction and mental health. Most immigrants don't suffer from homelessness because they have relatives that look after each other. 3rd generation+ Canadians (all races) lack that.. if you're 18 you are own your own, thats where that issue is with homelessness.

You're supposed to have an emotional response to this and reflexively demand that these individuals get to stay despite the fact that they broke the law to get in. However it's important to note that every time someone like this man selfishly breaks the law to cross the border another man with a family just like his, that is going through the process legally gets screwed over. These Muslims left Islamic Pakistan because they hated to live under Sharia, and migrated to non Islamic Canada for better life.
