Talking about a REAL (world) Leader! My personal message to Mr. Trudeau... 'Why you leave at this critical stage?' We need leaders like you to stand up to this type of Clowns who jerk themselves off for power and dollar-bills. And to the biggest Clown of this (still) free world, I would like to say: Mister Clown... as you say, America First.. Do yourself a favour and built a huge wall around your last and dying power soil.. and make sure this time you pay for it yourself, so you have your isolated soil called USA all for yourself and your regretting voters with your trade traffic. Make America great AND ISOLATED again... and make the US dollar a welcomed item at the toilet around the world!

Trying to resurrect his career?., what about the trading deficit with US?, everbody wants to rip off the US, same with the EU, the US paying for security, party is over.

That's a great speach by Prime-Minister of Canada.\n\nTrump made a mistake to start trade war against friends. Russia is a foe of the US, but Trump loves Putin. Why Donald stays his feelings on the top instead America, Freedom and Democracy???

Wait so because know we are trying to have a 50% 50% trade and not at 80% 20% y’all mad and threat us that’s crazzy

I never thought I would be more supportive of a government imposing tariffs on us than my own government, but hey Trump aligning the US with Putin and starting unnecessary and harmful trade wars with our allies is moronic and treasonous. The GOP used to be the party of free trade. That was literally their main plank for 40 years, and an idiot comes along who doesn't understand basic facts, such as how tariffs work, imposes them willynilly and vindictively, and the spine-challenged Congress rolls over without so much as a whimper. Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant from South Africa fires the people looking after our nuclear weapons, because he's also an idiot. And their fans lap up their clear treasonous acts.

Trump started a trade war with our best friends for no reason at all. Canada has always been a good trade partner. They've never wronged us in any way. Trump is disgusting.

Remind me again why Trudeau was forced to resign? Even NY Times investigative journalists recently explained how NAFTA worked against US interests and killed so much of our industry decades ago; almost the opposite of what was intended. Trade needs to be reformed across the board. It's also insulting the way other world leaders are now speaking directly to the American Public and lying to them as if they have our best interest in mind. World leaders are elected to defend the interests of their own people, many times they just look out for their own personal interest, but they are definitely not looking out for American interest. It is up to us. The world stage is a complicated transaction of this for that. That's life. Have you all forgot playing United Nations in high school? Trade needs to be renegotiated from significantly benefiting every other country but USA. Trump is trying to do that.

The trade war between the US, and Canada has the general population feeling the same way Russians and Ukrainians felt. A government forcing brother against brother.

A trade war is crazy the propaganda needs to stop the world mad they can't use us nomore lol
|

I'm an American embarrassed of this administration. Just give us all of the tarrifs ? this trade war needs to end.

Canada is not America's ally or friend. Ally/friend suggests equal partner. Canada is America's junior partner, a sidekick at the best. Canada blindly signed up for whatever war America was in, regardless of how ridiculous the war was, such as the 2003 invasion of Iraq. There is a simple solution to the trade war: join US as the 51st state and all tariffs will be gone. This is what Trump wants and he is serious.

STAY STRONG CANADA ?? We in the US will be feeling it too. These US trade wars and policies are so inhumane. I don’t how we got here?

I am a Canadian and I love America and the American people. I hope we can put this behind us sooner rather than later there is no need for any tension between us. We always have each other‘s back. With that said, I would like to see Canada step up to certain obligations, including with NATO, but as far as a trade work goes, this is not good.

Trudeau is a moron that is desperate to cause a crisis whether it be World War III in Europe or a massive trade war against the US just so he has an excuse to suspend democracy and keep the liberal party and power by getting rid of those pesky elections
|

You’re more than welcome to trade with us! Greetings from Europe! ??

I served alongside Canadian military when I served in the US military. They were very tough, honorable, and outstanding professionals. I have friends and family from Canada, and they love America. This trade war is so sad and so devastating for so many Americans and Canadians. These tariffs are so stupid, it's beyond reason. Trump is treating America's best friends and allies like enemies! This is not only dishonorable behavior by a US president, it is despicable!
|

I appreciate Prime Minister Trudeau! And I have much respect for Canada! ?? ? \nI’d like to see us recover relations with our allies and strengthen communication so we all can work together toward peaceful resolutions. This will help trade as well as climate concerns. \nIt Certainly Can Be Done! We must bring the best communicators to the table. \n(And begin with prayer because all peace begins with God!) ??️?

As a Canadian, even though I have disagreements with our Prime Minister, he is OUR Prime Minister, and I am glad he is so clearly and strongly saying to the US government and US citizens that we are done playing around. We will pull together, as a country, and come out of this stronger. We are willing to take on short-temp pain to work towards finding new markets and diversifying our trade relationships. The Canadian economy is in a stronger position to survive and recover from a trade war than the US. The US Government in general has destroyed one of the most successful and positive economic and social partnerships in the world and neither Canadians, nor the rest of the world are going to forgive and forget.

Not for the trade war but never going to forget that Trudeau acting like he cares about Americans is a laugh when he stood against us and in defense of forced jab, even seizing people's funds backing truckers
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
The comments in support of us are great - and I would hope that the verbal support will translate into active measures such as trade preferences, trade deals, military agreements and all the other things we will need as allies with dangerous bedfellows in this strange new world order.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
????? I hope Americans are listening to him. There is no reason for the trade war Trump started and how Americans will suffer financially. Trudeau is correct in this only helps our enemies.. Russia and other countries who want to see us fighting with each other. What Another sad day for America again. Not feeling great.

Canada ❤ Europa lets trade together instead with US . We share same values
|

As a Canadian, I repeat, it is not the US people we are retaliating against in this trade war. It is your current government under tRump, a lying criminal. Dear Lord save us all from this lying wolf-in-sheep's-clothing who is destroying so much.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Mr. Trudeau, I’m sorry our government sucks. I promise you that most Americans don’t want a trade war, or any of these insane changes that are happening to us. Many of us are incredibly terrified of what’s to come.
|

This is about more than the fentanyl. This is about Canada not pulling their own weight when it comes to defensive spending, this is about getting them to allow Us manufacturered cars into their markets, this is about convincing Canadian companies to build factories in the US… etc Trumps tariffs are creating hundreds of billions, soon to be trillions of dollars worth of investments into our market. We hold the largest market in the world. We hold the power here, not Canada. And bitching about relations with our allies isn’t going to sway conservative voters come the next election. When we win this “trade war” something tells me CNN will whine about how we won it instead of giving credit to the current administration for doing better by our citizens.

The Orange Reich makes us the worst neighbor.\nWe fought it but couldn't overcome the vote suppression, per psychiatrists media brainwashing, and hundreds of millions billionaires spent on electing the Mad Orange Dictator so he would enrich them and hurt the other 99.9999997% of us and the world.\nCanada, please strike hard and call his bluff by making his supporters feel the insanity of his promises to hurt them and you. \nIf we can still vote next year, we'll switch the majority in Congress. \nThe majority of people here know you are a wonderful neighbor who has sent troops to fight with us in war, took in tens of thousands on 9/11, sent an extra Super Scooper to help during the LA fires, and been our best trading partner. \nI'm so sorry.\nP.S. Has anyone else noticed that MOD looks extra orange right now?

How come no one talks about the trade war Canada imposes on the United States. Who is asking about the tariffs they impose on us?? Lmfao ?.. can we get journalism that gives us both sides of the argument??? That’s what Americans actually want

I think finally Canada realized that if they have friend like US then they don't need any enemy. You can't trust US at all and need to start open your market for global trade. I am glad that finally this happened cause sometimes you need a slap on face to wake up from a cozy bogus dream. Yes it will be painful few years for Canada but when time will come for fresh water and Arctic resources, it will be payback time to US. Forget US and start shipping products to Europe, China and India. Make pacts and create meaningful relationships and let US do whatever they feel like doing because ultimately Canada is the 2nd biggest landmass in the world, 3rd biggest supply of oil, 5th biggest supply of natural gas, 1st in the world for supply of potash and uranium, If you include Great lakes then it has 4 coasts that can tie them with water so great opportunity to create best ports, 1st in natural source of water and 5th biggest agricultral landmass. Then why bother and put your energy into someone who don't care. Let US do whatever they like and forget about them. Just don't go to US and don't deal with US.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
If you truly want to work with and help our society in the US as you claim. You'd happily pay the tariff's. \nAlso, you do realize that you can open up a facility for the production for those goods in the US and avoid the tariff's. This would also help by giving our society jobs back that were lost over the decades of free trade robbing our society of those jobs, making more people reliant on government entitlements. \n\nThank you and have a good day neighbor.

After a couple of years Trump and co will say, that Canada started a trade war against US. Just like they say, that Ukraine and Zelenskyy started the war with Russia. And now some uf US commentators are saying the same. It’s crazy. And there will be no way to get him to remember the facts. He and all who work for him are liars and half truth tellers. I’m not sure how to deal with this. But it is VERY important for all media outlets to keep reminding the facts. Just tell what happens, so there is a record. I think that could help in the end.\nSo here are my 5p:\nUS started trade war against Canada with 25% tariffs.\nRussia annexed Crimean peninsula and attacked Ukraine in 2022. This is the truth, no two ways about these facts.\nTrump and Vance are liars.

Is it a trade war? President Trump says it is not. We have to determine wisely that it is or not. A trade war is always harmful and impacts all over globe. It is harmful for us the people of this country as well.

Can I trade my US citizenship for a Canadian one, please? ? I’m so sorry to Canada and Ukraine. I’ve been against Donald from day one, so please don’t forget how many Americans don’t want this!

Support for Canada from Australia - Boycott US Made good and isolate the US from World Trade.

American's your leader is feeding you lies. More drugs and guns travel north than going south to the US. He is fabricating an excuse. As for tariffs...in Trump's first term HE rewrote the North American free trade agreement and we had to agree to it. NOW he figures it isn't good enough?? American's...your leader is making your country a punch line to a bad joke.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Mr Trudeau, if you go on a trade war with the US you’re definitely gonna get it and lose. All you have to do is lower the tariffs you’re imposing on American goods so Trump won’t impose the same tariffs on you.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
No winners? Your gravy train with the US is over and you have the most to lose. The US has been asking for fair reciprocity with its trading partners but you are causing it to be demanded. Canada has a population about the same as one state California. Trump has opened the US up to extracting and using its own oil, mineral, timber and other resources which we have lots and lots of. Just a matter of time before America is rid of the parasites on its ass.

Trade war with the US is never a good idea. Having being puppet state all this years depending on the fresh milk from the UNITED STATES UDDER for survival
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Stay strong, my fellow Commonwealth cousins. Canada has the fortitude to resist and also fight back on this injustice and unfair attack by your so-called 'friends'.\n\nYou have the support of your British cousins, and the rest of the EU - I honestly hope Canada is able to redirect their trade to the EU and actually get fair market prices for their valuable and exclusive resources.\n\nAs Trudeau says, NO ONE wins in a Trade War. Every stock market is down, and the US market is hit the hardest from this. This is sabotage from the inside, no doubt about it.

Canada wants the US to allow them to continue taking advantage of us if we don’t then he says it’s a trade war lol ?
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Hold on there, cowboy. AMERICA isn't launching a trade war nor supporting a Russian dictator. That's Trump and his backers. Don't lump the rest of us in with that lot.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Fight back? So it's ok to have a one way open border with another country? They practice rampant restraint of trade. Canada has the population of California and think they flex on the US. Good luck with that.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!
|

I find this speech has caused me to re-evaluate Justine Trudeau - he has become the statesman we always hoped he could be and he stated clearly Canada will retaliate for this incomprehensible attack on the greatest trading partner the US has.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Not sure why its surprising that Canadians are united against this trade war. We dont put up with this ? ?! The absolute gall of America to blame fentanyl on Canada, when it has been killing Canadians since 2016. Lets not even touch on the illegal guns imported in from the US. They certainly arent hopping on a plane from Mexico. Just wait for whats coming, as Our Allies are watching us and we are aligned with the world on our side ???
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Canada you are standing strong and proud in this unnecessary, unwarranted trade war. You have much respect and admiration from this US citizen and many others.\n\nUnfortunately, our sitting US President is acting as though he thinks he is an Apex predator. America is going to seriously regret letting this man reach this level of power.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Absolutely it's not a trade war and don't try to incite blind nationalism. The tariff to be imposed on Canada by US clearly is a demand/indication forcing Canada to look into then curb the drug problem, which has already destroyed Canada and endangered the national security of US. Wake up and act sensibly before it's too late to save Canada.

Could Canada Win a Trade War?\n Trump has waged Economic War on Canada in order to bring us to our knees so that we will eventually capitulate to become the 51st state.\n\n Had he come in a nice way, as a friend verses a foe, he would have had a lot more interest, especially from Alberta. \n\n Now that we are here, the question has to be asked, can we actually win a trade war that has probably been extensively war-gamed by the U.S.?\n\n Our politicians want us to go toe to toe with a 900 lb gorilla. The U.S. economy is at least 10 times our size and are less dependent on our trade than we are. We may give them a black eye but they could rip our arms and legs off. \n\n Retaliatory tariffs play into their hands. It’s the perfect excuse to increase the tax to 50 or 100%. So will we do the same? This would devastate us, achieving their goals.\n\n Canadians are already fighting back without the government making things worse. People are boycotting U.S. goods en masse and cancelling travel plans, etc. and this is already having a strong effect.\n\n Some say turn off the electricity and oil, but who will pay price? It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. This should raise eyebrows. \n\n Almost all of the MPs and Premiers are unanimous in entering into a trade war we can not win. After tariffs go ballistic, our dollar drops to .35 cents, and we get utterly crushed, I can see them say, “in order to save what’s left of our economy and society we must reluctantly join the U.S. or face certain destruction”. \n\n Not only would the decades old goal of a North American Union be accomplished, but we would take a large step towards the video statement that the World Economic Forum - WEF posted on their website. “By 2030, you will own nothing and be happy”. \n\n The WEF is working with the UN to achieve their Agenda 2030 goals and is what Pierre Poilievre and the “Conservatives” signed Canada onto Sept. 27, 2015. This is what Trudeau has been implementing. Mark Carnie, Pierre, and Jagmeet Singh would finish off the job. Read the redistribution of wealth goal #10. Are you feeling poorer yet? Remember, one has to dig deeper to see through the document’s ultimate double speak written for public consumption. \n\n There is much more going on than meets the eye. Our best defence is to not play into their hands. A much better plan needs to be developed by minds who see the big picture for creative solutions, and it does not seem to be those in office now
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
When you ALREADY have tariffs in place against the US you cannot claim Trump is starting a trade war. You started it. Now we have a POTUS with the sand to stand up for us not the world. Republicans understand that things will get tough. Liberals are already snow flakes that were in a melt down from the day Trump took office. We voted them out. I don't think Canadians are going to tolerate much for long unless you open the Treasury and give them money thereby bankrupting them. Drop your tariffs and Trump will drop yours. Is a win win.

GO PM Trudeau! We are in dire straights here in the US and need you to do whatever you need to in order to help us! STAND UP TO THE BULLY! And, please know, the citizens of the US (at least half of us, likely more) DO NOT want this trade war! God help us!
