Canada is too cold ? and expensive!

Thank God this Winter was relatively mild.. but Canada is still damn cold to be living outside.

Canada is just too cold, nothing like those 6 month Winters

My mom work in immigration. The issue is people are sent all over Canada when they arrive, every one just end up coming to Toronto because they don't like cold and want to be with their people.

I left Canada in 2023 after completing school. Education is great and it did open opportunities for me where I am now. But the brutally cold winters and expensive cost of living is a major turn off for me. I wouldn’t move back that’s for sure

For some nations Canada turned into nightmare by spoof call attack. Many people died or killed. This kind of attack using impersonation by foreign country agents to target some people like me and many of my friends. Unfortunately most Asian and black and Latino people easily get fooled and used as a tool for attacker to target some people. Drug problem is another big issue in Canada and USA but fortunately gun violence is less than US. Healthcare getting worse everyday. Bad neighborhood experience which destroyed my health for life mostly because of spoof call attack. Bad policing which killed many innocent people. Woke laws and culture which marginalized men who are driving force of society. Very weird working experience. Work for yourself or get enslaved by another employer that's why people would love to work for government. Housing prices skyrocketing in big cities and there is no foreseeable future for its remedy. Cold weather for six month of year and at the end COVID force closure killed many of people and hospitalization was so bad. Anywhere there was no hospitalization people life were saved. There is no open market like many countries which are backed by government to buy goods in reasonable price for low income people. Very restricted laws for driver license. Life in Canada is far from normal kills you or make you disable for life without getting you paid. Now I disabled for couple of years and I'm outside of Canada and just my family saved my life because I couldn't work because of disability due to spoof call attack which cause severe peripheral neuropathy. Even there is no any protocol for this illness to get cured and forced me to see many MDs and cost me lots of money. Just stay away from Canada which is a nightmare and my sickness cost me not be able to protect my family and died because of that. Canada is a hell

If you like very cold weather, high cost of living, medical expenses you might not hate Canada.

Weather is a stupid reason to say one is disillusioned about Canada because if a person doesn't know they are immigrating to a cold country then they must not understand even the simplest facts of Geography. The weather in Canada has actually gotten warmer over the decades.

Its dark and cold 6 months and weather is always unpredictable which has a huge impact on your mood believe it or not. I was born and raised in canada and i dont know where else i would live but the day i get a chance to move out i will run! Alberta is to Canada what Texas is to the USA. Lots of work in Alberta and conservative based. Saskatchewan is a little cheaper, but flat and cold. I was born in sk, but moved to Alberta in my teens and never looked back. So if you love guns, freedom, not so much government Alberta is your Provence

No one wants to live in Canada. Not even Canadian-born people. If you enjoy a life of cold weather, unaffordable housing, paying high prices from taxes, food to goods or services, financial stress and living ONLY to work… then Canada is for you!

What you said about Nova Scotia is completely wrong. Halifax has half the population of Nova Scotia. Fishing brings in less than 1% of Nova Scotia GDP and is irrelevant for Halifax where most of the immigrants go. The winters are less cold than the rest of Canada except southern BC

I have lived in canada my whole life. \nHere are the main hurdles:\n1. Cost of realestate and cost of living. You need white collar wages just to be able to rent, not buy, rent an apartment in most major cities. Cost of homes is insane as well.\n2. Jobs often pay low wages below what is needed to afford to live unless its white collar or trades working overtime hours. The jobs that do pay well often get hundreds of applications making your chances lower.\n3. Dentists cost an arm and a leg. The cost of it is insane unless you have a really good coverage plan from your job. \n4. Healthcare moves at a snails pace. Not good if you have a serious illness or disease.\n5. The climate overall sucks. Its not cold. Its ridiculously cold.\n\nMy advice: Be made of money. \nSeriously though, have a huge savings and have a long term financial plan. Getting jobs that pay a living wage here as newcomers here are HARD to get because they always want Canadian work experience. University education from other countries other than the US, UK, or Australia don't count here. Be prepared to live very humbly unless you are just made of money.\n\nI dont even want to live in canada anymore. I am almost 40 and have very little to show for it despite working full time jobs with overtime my whole life. Looking at going almost anywhere but here. The housing crisis and cost of living are the dealbreakers for me. You shouldnt need to be making $75k/year just to afford to RENT a decent apartment. Theres something wrong here.

Why so many people from india, Mexico and so? Don't get it, first off all Canada is way to cold for you guys, stay home....

it is TOO COLD in CANADA and we can buy MAPLE SYRUP once in a while anywhere else in the world , weed not so much (which is a good thing really) so no sane asian person will want to live in such freezing -40°C

Canada is not freezing during winter times at all. In all the provinces except preries the winter is average, -5/10 Celsus - that's not cold at all. Even in preries it's not always -20/30. A lot of days it's -5/10 there as well

If the Hindus don't like it, they can study in Mumbai. The students don't need a place to live, they just need NOT go to Canada. However, Canada should be building more houses. I have been to Canada alone as an immigrant 20 years ago & found a job within a month but backed out bec i had to buy my own tools & need to do wiring jobs in the cold. I decided to return home bec of the cold. Good decision that I didn’t resign from my job at that time. Looking back, i did not regret my decision to come back

Lived in Canada entire life. If no change in Government next election, will do everything in my power to leave. Basic rights are gradually being taken away with new laws, cost of living means I will never be able to retire, and little support for public health. The cold weather makes life miserable.

Because Canadian citizenship doesn't give you lots of rights. In the EU, even if you get citizenship in one small country, you can easily move to another European country. I've worked 5.5 years in the Netherlands in an ordinary town. I'm a Dutch citizen now, and I can easily move to Paris/Brussels/Rome. I'm moving in the upcoming months. Europe is kind of one big country, and Canada is a sparsely populated state with a notoriously cold climate everywhere.

I've spoken to many immigrants who complain about the cold and the weather in general and every single one of them talks about making money in Canada, looking for ways to shelter their taxes back in their own country and their dreams for being able to retire and return to their home country.

Canada is a dump now after 8 years of the liberal government. I moved here in 2017 and surprised to see how fast a country can deteriorate. Now unless you are rich and enjoy the boring culture and cold weather, simply don’t come to Canada. Everything is unaffordable and the government purposely let in so many immigrants to compete for necessities like housing. I made 130k last year but still far from owning a place. Although I get raises every year, my paycheck remains similar if not less because of increasing taxes and living cost let alone weaker purchasing power due to inflation. Canada becomes a playground for the wealthy who can speculate in the housing markets and some socialists who enjoy being broke and woke.
