During this period, they had to pay international student fees and then transfer to a work permit step by step, or join the investing immigration program, and then start to enjoy the benefits after becoming a PR. However, as soon as the hk pathyway people landed, they enjoyed the same benefits immediately as the locals(liked free education, local student fee for university, Child care benefits) which the locals felt were unfair. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. They shouldn’t receiving full benefits as locals while waiting for PR, they should pay the international student fees. Also, too many hk people abuse this policy, use fake academic qualifications to study, and then their whole family receives CCB , also enjoy local students is unfair to our locals. By the way, most of them after getting the PR they will go back to Hong Kong,they have no intention of staying here and make contributions to our country.\n\nThe HK pathway is a temporary policy. The immigration policy can be revised at any time just liked study permit has mandatory amendments and additional condition recently . The Hk pathway can also be amended.

Why are refugees exempt from this? We are not obligated to help them. Our hands are full. Taking them in will neither help us nor them. Send them away.

We shouldn’t be preparing for an influx we need to prepare to close our borders. No more asylum seekers into Canada. Our resources are for the people that pay for them not for those who come here to benefit from our better standard of living. Fix things back home and then immigrate through the proper channels. I just want to say the immigration didn’t start with Trudeau, I came to Canada when Steven Harper was in power , I went to lived in a neighborhood were the entire building was full with Colombians, the same with other buildings . I have to move out cause I felt that I was living in South America .

the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

Filling up schools with people who do not met the education requirements with bogus paperwork. Who are then forced to attend a strip mall schools. Are their diplomas even valid? No proper place to live and using foodbanks. Anyone with this paperwork should be refused at airport not supported. Most are coming from counties that have schools. Because really would you want them managing your money, running the country or are they going to work at Tim Hortons? No wait their fellow countrymen will then use them in scams.
