I am an Indian, but I don’t agree with these protests. You are a student. Get your education and then make your career. You can’t expect a foreign country to be obliged to give you a job as well. There are a lot of opportunities in India. So, why not come back and work in India? If you are good, an Indian MNC will send you Canada or any other foreign country at its own expense. The education loans are for education. I appreciate that there will be implicit expectation that getting a job in Canada will help pay that loan back quicker, but as a student you can’t demand that. You got to respect the law of the country.

You also need to include the deluge of fake asylees with students and TFW. Everyone is so obsessed legitly with those two groups that no one is mentioning the surge of easy visitor visas to those turning into fraudulent asylum claimnants and clogging the system. They're being paid on average 17K from taxpayer (stats from govt. PBO), creating pressure on housing and jobs. As a matter of fact, this group is worse than students and TFW coshidering the latter group is paying something in the Canadian economy (although that contribution is negligible at this point). I would also like to point to not conflate real asylees with these visitor visas to asylum seekers. They are economic migrants and NOT any asylee; fraud perpetrated by JT and his incompetent ministers.

Truth is Canadians don’t have money to go to university…. They depend on student loan from Immigrants hard work n contribution to the economy. Is it not an irony ??????? Also remember international student pay 3 to 5 times more for school fees in cash!. Government knows this but you don’t??

wait this is bs. During Covid Canada did not waive any reqirements related to the 1 year tuition fees. The students were not only required tp pay the 1 year tuition fee upfront but also pay $10,000 as GIC before coming as a requirement to get the Study permit.

Yes, it's out of control now. I am not against internet student but they should know their limitations. Giving them working permit is a privilege already. How about us Canadian who pay their taxes. Spouses of international student shouldn't be given a working visa. Now we are having a hard time to find a job. Even me it's more than a year now that I can't find a job. Sorry we haven't got enough housing for Canadians already here. The International students must pay their way and then go back home to start new educated lives. I work in a food bank and see many international students taking food from Canadians. This is not supporting themselves. Thousands either quit school or failed and then demanded citizenship. When I went to McGill 40 years ago I couldn’t even work on campus until they were satisfied no Canadian student could do the job. And I had to pay tuition up front and buy health insurance. Things have changed so much!

When demand meets supply: Universities in Canada need foreign students because they pay way more in tuition, accommodation, and other fees. Students from third world countries see it as a pathway for a Canadian passport before trying their luck south of the border. The solution is the amalgamation of universities in the large metropolitan areas. Why does Edmonton need three universities?

Trudeau is BS, even during covid times, there were canadians willing to work, but the corporations did'nt want to pay, and lobbied the govt for importing foreign labor. Why protest? Student visa is only for studying, that means you don’t have work permits to apply for permanent residency as per you visa guidance, if Canadian have enough jobs only to get a job for work permits, if doesn’t need to go back, you didn’t pay any taxes for our country and wasted taxpayer money

Universities recruit foreign students because they can screw triple fees out of them. Many of these students have such poor English that they can't understand the course material and have to pay others to write their papers. Universities know this perfectly well and turn a blind eye so they can retain their cash cows, and instructors are pressured to pass them. The modern university is a neoliberal, money-grubbing disgrace, top-heavy with useless, overpaid administrators. I speak as a sometime university instructor who quit in disgust.

Keep the student cap. Provinces need to remove the tuition cap that has been on for years. Domestic students need to pay the real cost of the education instead of letting the school bring in foreign students as cash cows.

No it's economic survival. Our kids can't find work. TFW are taking jobs in fast food and retail, not agriculture. Their money gets sent home. It doesn't stay here and it doesn't benefit our economy. It doesn't support all of our social programs. If the next Gen can't get even part time minimum wage work then down the road who's paying for healthcare, education, welfare, CPP, OAS etc?? Dont cut immigration down.....tell me how did Indian intl student makes up about more than 80% out of all international students. Why didnt the government put a cap or a stop specifically just for Indian people? Why didnt the immigration look deep before giving student visa just like a snap of a finger and see if they can support themselve for school and living expense. \n\nI am an immigrant myself but when i decided to come to canada as a student. I made sure i had enough funds to sustain myself here in canada for 2 years until i can get my work permit then a head to PR. I never ask for Cerb when covid happen, never ask food bank my part time job can fullfill that, paid my fare for using transportation, paid my rents and utilities on time and paid my credit cards. Lastly i never complaint focus on my study and I get good high paying jobs. I am proud to contribute to Canadian Economy as an Immigrant.\n\nThe question is are they doing the same? As what experienced, i knew so much international students from India, Nepal who are students here, some work with them having a lot of issues now. Not enough money to pay their tuition/rent/food. As when they enter, parents support them and after months or a year , they stop sending money. It affects student as can’t really afford to support themselves, having hard time to find job as there are limit to their work hours. It will not pay off their bill entirely. It end up looking for cash job everywhere. There is no much cash job anymore. \n\nGovernment should take action to this!!! \n\nLucky those who came years ago as they were not much international students as to compare today. \n\nI feel this students but government keep bringing them to Canada without checking this situation…. Unemployment is real!!!

Excuse me not only Indian. There's a lot of pilipinos student they're bringing their families here in Canada, per families they 1-6 children and the tax payers are suffering to pay their children tuition fees. Hopefully, the international students after their study they should leave here in Canada.

One thing should be made sure that Indian students don't go to Canada or US bcoz they can't find jobs here but to earn in dollars and portray an image of themselves as well settled or rich in eyes of society. I know many people who left their high paying jobs which would provide them with more than decent lifestyle here. They took masters just to get a pr there and settle down for any job bcoz living in foreign is a sign of pride in many regions,that is why people spend lakhs of money just to go to US or Canada. Indian students going to private colleges owned by Indians that have no merit as far as there degree are concerned. It's a scam for them to reside here. It's a scam from day 1. Go check if private college is the same as a real Canadian college. It's not, private college is not recognized as authentic community college like Sheridan. \nThey been scammed. \nWho goes to a college in Canada run by Indians . Only Indian students. International students should come just to study not to work, if they can pay the universities fees, they should be able to pay for their bills. Foreign workers are need in some jobs, for example: agriculture, housekeeping, or skilled workers are ok too but we can see every store, fast food shops full of Filipinos and Indians, and they’re like mafias, once a Filipino is a manager, they mostly hire Filipinos and same with Indians. My daughter and her friends have been applying for a part time job in Tim’s, McDonalds, a&w, Walmart and other grocery stores and barely get a interview and never hired?, ahh but my daughter’s Filipino friends are all working ?, some of them where their parents work?

The audacity to protest in a country that allowed you to join shitty colleges skip college and work full time is some other level of non sense ….I went to US for my masters worked hard unfortunately did not get h1b picked returned back and got a high paying job that valued my US degree….these students are delusional…their degrees are crap and will not be able to find jobs in India as well.

Many jobs are taken over by students and visitors who many are getting paid by cash for working. Canadians are left with no jobs and will loose their homes for unable to pay mortagges and bills. THe Canadian government must send back the Students and Visitors as soon as possible!!!!!

Some of them use fake school certificates to enter the country. Others use illegal methods to obtain business loans and then shut down their businesses after receiving government funds. They have connections within the system. There are fake Indian colleges that process illegal students. My ex husband told me about one school. They get away with too many things, and sadly, those with legitimate certifications who are studying at authorized colleges and paying tuition are unfortunately affected. I'm sure there’s a process in place to ensure that not all will be deported.

Studying in Canada has always been a scam that benefitted the colleges and the students who pay great sums to avoid legal immigration lines. This has been an open secret. Besides this, how does India benefit from losing its educated people? Time for a re-think.

As an Indian myself, i highly respect the decision taken by the Canadian government since sooner or later this decision was gonna be made just like in Australia. These borders are opened to study further, and eligble people only should be considered to get permanent residency who would contribute the foreign land with good skills like Doctors, Engineers, and so forth, not just for menial jobs. For the sake of an easy citizenship, there is a huge trend to go Canada for Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis. They are not ready to upgrade their skills while studying abroad, and return home to contribute to thier own nations, while they just want to live there, yet still complain we face unemployment. Some of my nation students, unfortunately, don't even know how to speak English properly and pay a huge amount to their agents to go abroad. This is a good decision for them, but a sad decision for those who genuinely want to study in some good courses and wanna get into white-collered jobs.

How do Canadia survive without Indian students tutition fees? Many come there and willing to pay those huge fees only because of that work permit.

the 70,000 students were coming in illegally i believe, 70k out of 1million+ that have come per year isn't so bad. I blame this whole situation 100% on the government and it totally does suck that these 70k people coming in are going to be deported but again there were and are so much scams that have been going on. If they lied and cheated on the system i don't think we should feel bad. Canada used to have higher standards. My family obviously are immigrant too but there has been no background checks, no proper procedure in the last few years and 2 races have been getting preferential treatment. Most if not all people that come in from Africa are left on the streets while the your country men, indian, and white looking are given a free house, food budget, and dont have to work.. We paying more for taxes and the government has increased work force by 40% yet wait time for services has trippled 3X, make it make sense.

During Covid they were saying there is a labour shortage no there was not the business owners didn’t want to pay workers MORE money matching inflation thats way the business owners were hiring international students so they will just pay them less money . Start paying people what they really should be getting . Business made lots of money during the pandemic and yet they have no money to pay there workers . The amount of things cost in canada minimum wage should be more hire. Minimum wage should be 25$ a hr You know the taxes will eat up most of that money anyways

Too many immigrations when we don’t have the housing to support it unfortunately international students think that coming to school equals permanent residency and that’s just not the way that school abroad works also The LMIA scams don’t help people are aware that they are paying for these jobs which will never give them a chance to get them temporary foreign worker also think that permanent residency goes with that but you have to understand that it is called temporary

Its about time. Colleges in Canada ?? have been creating stupid courses marketed to other countries whose sole purpose is to create an avenue for international students to come to Canada, who then, soend some time at svhool but essentially fill up affordable housing and all of the low skilled jobs. This isnt about racism, its about doubled rents and no jobs for tax paying Canadians.
