All Trump has been asking for all along is for Canada & Mexico to DO THEIR PART in stemming the illegal immigration and Fentanyl from crossing into the United States. Nearly 100,000 Americans die each year from Fentanyl overdoses. The raw ingredients come from China and into their respective nations, where they are processed and made into Fentanyl, then brought into the U.S. Neither nation has taken Trump seriously and Biden didn't give a crap and actually assisted with bringing in more of everything. Now both nations get to deal with the results of their inactions. Remember, these are reciprocatory tariffs to simply equal what American goods are charged by Canada & Mexico already. NOW everyone is on an equal playing field. If these nations want lower tariffs, they can go first and then the U.S. will match it to theirs... It's that simple.

U.S. here....first, I and most Americans stand with Canada and Ukraine. Second, yes tRUMP made a dumb mistake. But everyone must realize that he really isn't very smart. His own cabinet members from his first term have said so. He doesn't understand things and he doesn't read. I'm doing ongoing research to cease any spend on any US product or service. I'm buying software from Europe, using Posteo for email, deGoogling this year and vastly reducing Youtube. I trace all groceries to eliminate anything US sourced and I now check that products are Mexican and Canadian as much as I'm able and they are supplying. I've stopped planning trips to LA and NYC, I might resume if American voters ever have the good sense to vote en masse against obviously fascist plans and personalities. I've holidayed in Mexico three times and would visit Canada and Europe in future. US is not safe for everyone any longer, not even its citizens and looks to be getting increasingly insecure and offering prosperity only to the already mega rich through crooked policies and agencies. Every week or two I double check the facts on groceries and online products/services to make sure I'm not accidentally buying American. The election was so compromised in November I'm glad people are realising the only action we can take is with our wallets from not logging in to 'big tech' to buying bread and apples etc.

Fact check. More fentanyl enters Canada from the USA than the other way around. So maybe the USA needs to work harder at stopping it, not Canada. But then Musk is firing everyone who would do that.
