The points system is why Canadians have a good impression of immigrants. When you let in english or french speaking well or over-educated new citizens, people will have a good impression of these hardworking people. When you let in gobs of just anyone.. you end up with Brampton, Ontario, or Sweden, where foreign nationals have brought their own opinion of how life should be to a previously high trust/well functioning area. Like the opposite of gentrification. Basically slumification, a reduction in trust, an increase in crime, an increase in corruption.. Who would have thought there would one day be new Canadian citizens calling for Sharia Law in Canada? That is when immigration "jumped the shark", and the system needs fixing. And Canada already has the fix: Limit immigration to economically well off migrants who meet the points quota: ie, they are educated and speak english or french. And greatly restrict refugees... we have enough homeless and economically useless people, we do not need more.

Yep we are screwed big time, here in Moncton New Brunswick we only used to have a small number of Immigrants usually a mix of francophone students and refugees properly vetted by immigration. Jobs were available for everyone, a small example is the taxi cab drivers who were usually a mix of older semi retired Canadians, Sudanese and Syrian refugees who communicated well and tried to adapt to their new home, Canada. COVID hit and we started seeing Punjabi’s coming in unprecedented numbers, they say as students, from Brampton Ontario?Overnight all Walmart, Taxi/Truck Driving jobs, Tim Hortons, McDonalds were Punjabi jobs who do we blame? Rents are high, jobs once available are unavailable life has become hard where do we run same people voted again for the same government that has destroyed us 😢😢😢.

As an emmigrant who came to this country 15 years ago, I am astonished by the lack of knowledge this country has. This reason stands in empty education ( in an irony of life, the canadians call it one of the best on the word), and the belief Canada is a democracy. It is typically a fascist country that makes spurious elections because it is truly run by an establishment hidden as a secret society and in the surface is run as a mafia by small groups of interest ( corporations, professional order, injustice system, and emty shell politicians). The others ( the canadian people) they enjoy democracy 😂, high quality of life( really, just make a visit to a poor european country as Portugal, Greece ). The same goes for education, just oven degrees hot and not edible. Now Canadians learned that immigrant are taking their land and opportunities. You're lied, put under pot, and cheated by your democratic representatives. Try to fight, you'll be in a gulag (minus 15 Celsius only for some day) until the nobel prize candidates of uot and mcgill will put you democratically under tanax.

Canada is ruined already. In Toronto police advises citizens that they leave keys of their expensive car outside their house to save their life. I almost completely support everything he says. My problem comes with his comments on Fentanyl. Please, this medication is a game changer for so many suffering daily in agony with chronic pain or deadly conditions. For those who need it medically, it is strictly controlled and monitored. Fentanyl is “eaten” by pain, so for those who need it there is no high, just relief.\nThose on it legally already have to deal with a great amount of prejudice, being treated as addicts and dealers when they are just trying to find a way to survive immense pain everyday. This medication allows them to get out of bed, to attend school or work, to have a life. It gives them hope and relief. \nThe opioid crisis is real, but those on a prescription are not the cause. Canada already has some of the strictest protocols in the world for this medication, leaving many people in agony as they loose access to it. \nDon’t take away something that is saving them. The drug is not wrong, those selling it illegally are in the wrong.

I am a 72 years of female who lives in Canada with very strong American roots as I came here when I was 46 years of age. I have to say that what is happening between the United States of America and Canada breaks my heart. I have always known that Canada and United States of America worked and got along with each other all my life. Thus, Canadian municipalities governments are very attached to property owners, leading to the political conditions that make housing harder to build and new housing more expensive. The vast majority of the policies restricting housing supply and increasing costs of new housing, like development charges on new homes to fund infrastructure instead of taxing existing property owners, onerous and restrictive zoning regulations, and slow and expensive permitting processes all come from the cities. Honestly, for many city politicians it is to their advantage to make the crisis worse. Why wouldn’t a city councillor vote to raise development charges on building new homes instead of raising property taxes on existing homes to pay for stuff like replacing life expired sewer and road and subway infrastructure!? His constituents aren’t going to care about the costs of new homes, which affect people moving to the city or younger generations, which are either not yet residents of the city or too young to vote.

I am in Australia and I feel the concern and the pain being suffered by Canadians, historically the like us, alllies of the USA, because of the treachery and betrayal by the USA, whilst supporting despots like Putin in its attacks on our democratic way of life.
