Comparing the US to Canada, I notice we have more freedoms here in Canada in spite of the high cost of living, and because of the freedoms we have more solidarity to call Canada our home. We don’t pack a piece when we leave home to run errands, we don’t whirl the maple leaf, we don’t adorn our buildings with the maple leaf, and we don’t wear maple leaf clothing. We don’t do any of these things because we don’t need to, because we are not paranoid, and that is why we don’t have the level of violence that is in the US. This land is our home, and it has always been peaceful for the most part, until now that Trump is touting threats of taking Canada as the 51st state. He wants Canada because we have the natural resources that the US needs. He will build a direct line to Alaska. He will drill all over Canada wherever he wants. He will kick Canadians off their land to drill. Trump will do whatever he wants because he’s a business man. He does not take others into consideration, just his own plans to meet his own selfish gains. What Trump is doing are illegal manoeuvres and he must be stopped. There has got to be a limit within legal guidelines to stop this insanity.

Reading all the comments and thinking if the effort of staying permanently is worth it! I am from Iran, have been studying here for 2 years, and reading all these disappointed comments makes me think deeply! I think it would be wiser to compare the Canada to other countries “now”. Comparing Canada to its own past and thinking of moving to another country because it’s better, doesn’t make sense. I am sure many countries are going through the same situation !

I worry for your less fortunate, those depending on help from their government and have earned this right, those being tossed out for no good reason. I think that’s comparable to cost of living in Australia. So people with a high paying job and skills are necessary to have a good stress free life. If you are struggling to get a good job it’s going to be tough. Especially if you live far away and need to spend on fuel and rent or the cost of buying a house. It’s skewed towards highly skilled and people who already have a good savings account balance

Compare how many mass shootings you had in the U.S. compared to Canada. Also, we are allowed to own weapons if you want (particularly for hunting). It's not zero sum game. It's pretty foolish for US to treat Canada such a way, they are not only their neighbor but, their ally. Furthermore, US crude oil production is at deficit if compared to their consumption. So, if Canada stop exporting crude, US economy and industries will collapse.

Invest in Eastern Canada pipeline and refineries , Bring crude or finished product to Montreal and start sending to Europe. Even with higher cost to refine heavy Alberta crude, we can still bring cheaper gas to Europe given that we sell our crude at 57USD to States and USA sells to Europe at 70. In today's rate Canadian finished product (With heavy refine + high transportation cost) in USA is 73USD per barrel as compared to WTI (with lower refine cost + lower transportation cost) is 82 USD. At 2024 exports levels you saved 14.1 Billion dollars per year + all refinery jobs and reason for it is the heavy discount we gave to you on crude oil. Facts tells me you are the free loader. Yeah we are small and gonna be in bad shape But this does not ends well for you too either.

Even if there are a fair few efficient trans people with their head in their job. Never lived there but I drive through alot. California used to be alot nicer but even in its prime its a waistland 3rd world country compared to canada. Texas was horrible. Everyone is rude and stupid. I understand the lack of education but even the people in charge are very simple minded and it's very rare to meet a beautiful woman. All countries have a right to determine who they allow into their country with lower restrictions. And they are under no obligation to open the gates to anyone. It is also common knowledge that the newer cohorts of Indian immigrants to the West are a bad representation of Indian society (best example - Canada). Hence the rising anti Indian Immigration stance. Immigration is a privilege and not a right. Indians ka poore duniya ke har shahar/city me jakar basna Hindustan ke asafalta ka sabse bada sabut hai. Japanese aisa kyun nahi karte? Kyun ke Japanese society/economy is capable of providing a good standard of living to Japanese in Japan itself inspite of having no natural resources (compared to India) and having more population density than India per sq km. Singapore is another example. 60 years back Singapore was one of the poorest countries in Asia. Today it ranks as a developed country with number 1 passport in the world as per Henley’s Passport Index. As long as Indians are busy with their religion/caste/language based politics there is no hope.

I have been able to visit Vietnam, Nigeria(office work) & Bali . Not much compared to others I agree. But the behaviour of Indian Language speaking Tourist in these countries is really really horrible. No matter how much these sold out News Anchor or our leader peddle false narrative that Indians are respected our passport etc etc. Indians are least preferred cause of the attitude issue. Even Nigeria whom we mock cause of look and color are more decent than us. Indian deserve this.
