Let’s get this straight Canada sends 77% of their exports to the US and Mexico sends over 80% of their exports to the US. Who has the upper hand? We buy less than 20% from each country and we can build everything here. We will.??

Why can't Canada put a double % on the US tariffs which makes from the US imported goods like cars so expensive that nobody will buy it. Yes it's a problem. Just buy those cars from Europe or Japan. There are also very great goods from Europe like the orange juice mentioned in the video. This is available in Europe and Northern Africa as well. Canada eh! Just switch the trading origins. Would be very nice to getting much closer to Canada and Mexico with the EU ?❤

When two countries put tariffs on each other whoever exports more in relation to the other will loose. It’s a math problem. Unless the country has massive stockpiles of cash from the other country. We buy more from China, Mexico and Canada then they buy from us. Just FYI

I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.

Dumb move, Trudeau. Trump doesn't fear measured responses; he's not a normal person. He only understands if you hit him back much harder than he hits you. \nCanada should NOT impose retaliatory counter tariffs that harm CANADIANS (Or do like China and impose 75% Tariffs on US items Canada can easily buy elsewhere). Rather, Canada should shut the OIL spigot and cancel electric feeds into the USA. RIGHT NOW. THAT would have the required effect and NOT HARM Canadians.

Hopefully people around the world respond by buying as little as possible from the US (especially from the billionaires and states that support Trump). Trump is going to try to divide and conquer, and if the US will attack Canada, no democracy is immune.

We europeans already started to boycott US products. I will buy european products first, then canadian, australian, japanese and so on. US is at the end of the list, with China.

Just don’t buy American, forget tariffs they are not needed. The US is doing a money grab to all that sell things to the US to finance no federal income tax to the American people.

Mexico and Canada imposing tariffs on the US is not going to hurt us like they think. We have more ships and planes and are able to move more goods faster to other countries who will buy. Not to mention the fact that Mexico and Canada were never fair to us in trading. In the end they will have hurt themselves way more then the US. Why do you think Trump has done this and most of us are not worried.

Yeap I buy absolutely nothing from Canada I can’t get from somewhere else. It’s about time we stop adhering to unbalanced trade agreements with our so called friends and if they rather take advantage of us rather than make a more fair deal then let’s do it. Let’s see if we really need Canadian goods to survive so bad we need to trade and a deficit. But no being mad if we find out we don’t need you at all.

The best for the US, is to buy everything from the US. We buy the most. If we buy at home, we win. everyone else, not so much.

Was due to fly to Denver on Thursday for a short vacation. Immediately changed destination to Bermuda tonight. Canada is definitely more vulnerable but i think US is under appreciating how united Canadians can be when pushed. As Trump has said he would do is make Canada pay for their own air and ground defense of their nation. For too long Canada has taken advantage of a free halo above their country complete with military hardware from the US. Once Canada is forced to provide monies to maintain and buy updated/new equipment the US will hammer them again. Canada doesn't make anything the US can't make themselves.

Been buying almost exclusively Canadian for every product i can manage since 2016. Trump thought it would hurt Canadians, it just proved to us that the US is unreliable as a partner, so long as 50% of the US population considers us as beneath them rather than partners.

If none may have a trade surplus, who will buy US treasuries? We will see a massive liquidation of foreign held US assets.

If countries stop buying military equipment from the US that would be alot more retaliatory than tariffs.

So glad I started boycotting us products. I’m saving 25% buying Canadian.

Maybe I shouldn't like this but I do. Firstly, Canada has the luxury of not really needing to protect itself, they get to spend 3% what the US does on their military so they can focus on other things, like letting immigrants into the Country to price out the native Canadians and jailing people for misusing pronouns. Also, I want to see the US become slightly more isolationist, I'll happily pay more for US products. A tariff is paid buy the businesses who attempt to pass that cost down to the consumer. We need tariffs high enough that making things in the US makes more sense to these businesses.

Only buying Mexican and Canadian good. Don’t mind paying a little more. Not everyone is able to do that but those of us who can pay a little more should teach the USA a lesson.

Tarriffs are irrelevant if other countries and individuals simply stop buying from or trading to the US. I can't buy US products now for ethical reasons. Trump being oblivious to his fan boy's ?? .

Now your bulb costs $12.5.\n5. Why? Because 25% of 10 is 2.5. So 10+2.5=12.5\n6. What does this increase in price mean? Inflation.\n7. Wont this encourage make in America? No, because you deported immigrants and now you have to pay american wages. Suddenly your bulb costs $20 because GE pays minimum wage to an American. So yeah, now everything is made in America but you are homeless paying more for everything.

I was po'd that I had to pay $13 for a tv in my room when I had my kids LMAO! Canadian problem. Free now though. For the most part I like the safety and security of Canada. I always feel a little in danger when I visit the US. I think the idea that anyone can carry a weapon freaks me out. But, I love the shopping in the states. It is not cheaper for us to buy down there but you guys have way more variety.

South America stopped buying American produce and started buying from China. The EU stopped buying American steel and started buying from China. (US Steel ended up closing two American based plants as a result.) I see the same outcome during his second term.

Wrong! It doesn’t cost Americans more when a tariff is placed. It forces the incoming product manufacturer to lower its costs so people will still buy, and if people still buy, the percentage of tariff will fund the us government vs our income taxes. If they don’t lower their costs, they risk people not buying which hurts their business and hurts the country they are in because they don’t make as much money to send taxes to their country’s government

So, trump hits american companies buying stuff from columbia with a tariff. Columbia does not pay the tariff and it is not going to affect anyone but the american consumer who the american companies, who paid the hidden tax he just imposes on us, the consumer, won't actually pay in the long run because that tariff just becomes part of their cost of goods that they will add to their sales prices.
