I have reviewed the comments and I see the impact the government is impressing with their lack of maintenance in many of their expensive pruchases. Action without responsibilty is a dangerous road to travel. Fools jump in where angles fear to tread.

Did these people not do any research? Did they just jump a plane and immigrate to another county without knowing what it's like? If I decided to immigrate to India, you can be sure I would have investigated everything and made a visit or two to check things out first, lined up a job and then make my decision. If they made the wrong decision, it's no one's fault but their own--not Canada's.

The thing that really pisses me off is that these illegal entries also gum up and slow down the process for legit asylum seekers and legit immigration petitioners who do obey the law. I saw a news report at the San Ysidro crossing where they interviewed a mother of three young children who had a legitimate asylum reason (which still has to be determined in court) who had been trying for over two years to enter legally. The system just didn’t have capacity because of the illegal crossings in the region taking up all of USCIS resources. This woman had no resources and was sleeping on the streets in Tijuana (not safe) trying to survive and care for her kids and she had the resolve to continue to doing things legally. \n\nPeople bitch about America being unsympathetic — what about people like this woman? You gonna say she should give up obeying the law and try to jump the border? What if you came home from work and found a homeless woman and her three kids eating out of your fridge? \n\nWalls don’t keep people out. They have doors. Go to the door and ask to be let in. \n\nIf the illegal crossings stopped, and America refused to answer the door? Then maybe you got an argument for harsh treatment.

Canadian citizenship has been rendered worthless, there's more rights and previllages and flexibility enjoyed by refugees, temporary workers and PRs than Canadian citizens. In fact even during height of pandemic Canada dint bother to bring back stranded Canadian citizens, instead they discarded them shamelessly and actually robbed them of 1000s of dollars to forcefully put them in 5 star hotel jails when citizens jumped through hoops to come back to their own country. Really shamelessly disadvantageous.

I do not buy this story. I was born in Canada in the 50s into a very modest farm lifestyle. I easily jumped several levels and retired wealthy. I am very happy with Canada.\nThe problem is our housing costs are super high. We are bringing people into the country faster than we can grow infrastructure. Back off on immigration for 5 years, and then we'll be fine. We also need to invest in an overtaxed health care system.\nIt is safe, rich, free and full of opportunities. I am not Muslim but Canada is still a great country. A Muslim country will be a huge change and it does depend on the country. I lived in Morocco for 2 years and you are judged by your money. Really snobby people. They hate the poor and there are lots of poor people. Cost of Living has also increased. Lovely climate. No job opportunities for young people. I worked in Dubai for 6 months. All bling and only the 20 % have any proper say. Spent a holiday in Oman. Woman still kept back. Also might get caught up in Middle East conflict. Countries like Kuwait/Saudi etc very strict after freedom of Canada. Albania probably would not be strict enough for you. 60% percent Muslim. Had a holiday there about 10 yrs ago. Beautiful in summer and I believe still reasonable. Will be interested to see where you pick. I live in Ireland cost of living madly expensive!! I have cousins in Montreal. Have spent many vacations there. Why not try Vancouver for better weather? I just love Canada but all my immediate family are here. There are many international students who are not going to school or studying. They are taking advantage of loop holes in the Foreign Students Act that lets them take on jobs and work towards getting permanent residence. Some are using the educational system, but not all. They are taking advantage of our legislation to jump the que in obtaining permanent residence in Canada.

US family here. We were a big downhill skiing family, and often spent our winter vacations in the Laurentians. The exchange rate was great back in the 1990s and early 2000s. So when the time came to start looking at colleges, our daughter already associated Canada with fun, and fell in love with the University of Toronto. She was accepted. But before Canada would issue her a student visa, we had to provide evidence that we could pay full tuition, room, and board out of pocket. For all four years! They wanted an iron guarantee that she would never become a ‘ward of the state’ or consume public assistance services. We had to jump through soooo many logistical hoops for her to attend, it was exhausting to facilitate. But she graduated with honors in four years. All that time, the city was beautiful, clean, and vibrant, though not inexpensive. The St. George main campus, Queen’s Park, Bloor, Yongue Street, more. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful. We very rarely saw homeless and never tent communities. And crime seemed almost nonexistent except for bicycle thefts. Our daughter made many international friends and forged great relationships she carries to this day. So many wonderful memories. So it’s heartbreaking to hear how downhill the city has become. And the US is no different. It’s all in the politics, and neither Trudeau’s nor Biden’s policies are helping.

A lot of immigrants use Canada as a jumping-off point to get into the States. They know Canada is a trash country but they're willing to suffer in the meantime. I know many immigrants who have came to Canada and are very educated, lots of experienced in their field, couldn't find the job. But they all move to the states and are getting paid very well. Going to the USA is prosperity land not Canada. That is a fact!

The reason why canada is expensive to live or make a life and living is because of our narcissist of a prime minister Trudeau his popularity has plummeted downwards while perrier poilievre has jumped in popularity so its no joke that people r leaving canada cuz of housing costs, power tripping which includes that news reporter incident

I am Malaysian currently living in Alberta. If I may add 1 more point which made me feel strongly not to move to Canada is the healthcare accessibility. \n\nIt is very important to me and my family and we do not see it getting any better anytime soon. To those who are thinking of coming (settling down) into Canada, please seriously consider this factor before you made the jump. At least you shouldn’t be surprised.

I was born and raised in Toronto. I have no family inheritance to give me a jump start. I make good money (middle upper class) but I’m still struggling financially. Not because I spend like crazy or anything, but because taxes are crazy and everything is so expensive. And now with the high interest rates, my monthly expenses went up $4000+ for no reason. Just based on interest rates. I had a pho lunch for 2 last week and it was freaking $70! Crimes are increasing like crazy and the government keeps having talks of handing out money when we are in so much debt. Seriously the government right now is discouraging talented hard working ppl and encouraging lazy leeches to keep being lazy. Our healthcare is also a joke. Doctors know nothing and are only there to write prescriptions. The amount of people I know that was misdiagnosed for conditions so obvious that any 10 year old can figure out by googling their symptoms is ridiculous. \n\nBeing a Toronto native I really hate seeing the city/country crumble like this. I am starting to question if sticking around is the right choice. But I’m so established and embedded here I don’t know how to uproot everything and move elsewhere. And I wouldn’t even know where to go. The states have their slew of issues too

Born and bred Canadian here, I just wanted to weigh in on the hospital issues spoken of @ 9:20. \n\nA HUGE contributor to this problem is one that everyone seems to be afraid of addressing; immigration. \nThose of us who have lived here and paid taxes all our working lives to contribute to the health care system are the ones who should be getting the best use of it. \nMake no mistakes here, if someone moves here and works to contribute to the hospital funding, that’s fantastic and I hold absolutely nothing against them using the system they contribute to. \n\nThe problem I have is when they bring their elder family who will never, and have never, contributed to this system. Then they have no qualms with clogging up waiting rooms and doctor’s offices waiting for care that WE all pay for, born Canadians and legal citizens alike. \n\nI know there will be some brain dead folks who want to cry racism here, but it’s simply an observation. We were already in a housing crisis before Trudeau brought over those 80,000 refugees/immigrants, then we had all those who jumped our border from the US because Trudeau invited them to come to Canada. All that on top of our usual amount of immigrants that come in every year.\nIn the end we should have a MAXIMUM cap on the total # of refugees/immigrants that can enter the country per year no matter how/why they want to enter, and we should require all of them to have skills/trades/etc that we actually need. Why should we be bringing in people who can't/won't work? I know that the UK brought in refugees over 50 years ago that the majority of are STILL on welfare and the majority of their kids are on welfare too.\n\nI think Trudeau has spent more on refugees/immigrants then he has spent on our own homeless people, veterans and mental health care combined.

This is a shame, I myself am an immigrant. I , along with multitudes, do not see a reason to move out.\n\nThe system is misused. Most of these get the Permanent Residence stamped on their passport or citizenship done only to jump to other countries. Just have a more refined selection process. \nLove Canada for opening its door and am grateful for that. The people are welcoming and accommodating. \nPeople always find something to crib on forever, in fact it is these very same people who came knocking here in times of desperation only to complain about taxes now when they have benefited from the various offers are done with.

Wish I had the power to just jump around around any country I want to , every time it gets hard to live , can’t even get a job else where let alone live … all this dual citizenship needs to stop
