For pleasure travel to other countries, Govt of India should impose 100% tax and use that tax amount for development of domestic tourist spots. Same way for student traveling to other countries for study, Govt of India should impose 100% tax (fully refundable with interest if that student comes back to India after completion of his studies) and use that tax amount for development of domestic educational institute.

Besides the problems at the border President Trump also wants to get a better trade deal that is why he is using the 25 % tariff to negotiate better security and trade deal. Let's get real here, these international students do not contribute significantly at all to Canada's economy. They are a drain on food banks that locals need for survival. They are a drain on our economy because 90% of them are sending most of their paycheques back to family in India. They are taking jobs away from young Canadians trying to enter the job market while Canada's unemployment rate is high right across the country. The schools mostly are fraudulent diploma mills that are not providing any real world job skills that are useful to Canada or Canadians and 90% of Indian international students who enroll in these colleges do not even attend. They come only to work for dollars and send money back to India. Meanwhile the cost of living is extremely high due to the housing shortage caused by excessive Indian International students. It should be very clear now, Canada and Canadians want all these Indians to leave Canada and return to India as stated in the temporary resident visa. If not they will be cut off and deported also incurring a 5 to 10 year ban from Canada.

Politicians always play safe for their benefits, but any native should never feel a stranger in their own hometown, it's a nightmare, I'm an Indian, from Kerala, I can't think of feeling and outsider in Kerala, so totally understand what people feel in any part of the world. But don't you think, any outsiders coming and occupying the masses seems like a problem with the efficiency of people there, even here in Kerala we used to speak of Tamil population in early 80s and now Bengalis occupying our street, but can we actually blame them? Browsing through the net for job opportunities, confined to a small room at high costs, finally if and when they are been called for one or two interviews at most despite forwarding more than 100 resumes, at the interviews they will be offered lower than the minimum wage for parttime workers. What a crime\n Here I am talking about fully qualified and experienced, as well as fluent English Speakers, actually better English skills than both of you here presenting this program. What a scam, first they say that English fluency is essential has introduced different Examination to assess the English fluency standard.. it is a big scam...while Canada has favoured immigrants from certain parts of the globe. All these gimmicks are being utilised to discourage the applicants and to force the genuine Credential Holders who could definitely contribute to boost the Economy in a fruitful manner to leave the country and to force them to get back into their home countrues. In that case why did the Federal Governments of Canada created a delusion to migrants from around the globe stating that there is an acute labour shortage in certain high demanding job categories, encouraging all such applicants to apply through the Skilled labour Program introduced by the Federal Government of Canada,. as if there are shiploads of opportunities available just for geabs.\nSuch individuals are driven to state of utter despair or forced to get back to their home countries whereas here the federal Government of Canada is granting Asylum to all sorts of unskilled , uneducated and sometimes no literacy nor basic communication skills in English at all at the expense of the taxes and high tuition fees acquired from the student population as well as PR Holders who has incurred massive expenditure through the federal Government's detailed and tough assessment procedures just to gain entry under the stipulated visa categories. Thank you for summarizing these key changes! Many problems are actually the Canadian immigration system not learning from the mistakes of the US system and now it’s suffering the same consequences. If Canada cuts down on those selected immigrations but still takes in refugees, it’s only going to make anti-immigrant sentiment worse. Selected immigrants are allowed into Canada to help alleviate Canadian issues…or at least people who come through Express Entry are less likely to become a burden. On the other hand, refugees, given their unfortunate circumstances, really need to rely on a lot of social services and resources to help them resettle. The US has eliminated pretty much all non-humanitarian immigration that’s why immigrants are so demonized there. Americans only feel the drags of refugees and asylum seekers (even though ethically we need to protect them) and there is no selected immigration to balance that out. Yet this round of Canadian policy change is heading exactly that direction.\n\nIt used to be international students in Canada are not paying a lot more tuition than Canadian students. But Canadian universities saw how much money universities in the US are making so they asked the federal government to change the policy to enable them to charge international students several times the regular tuition (whereas in countries like France, international students actually pay less than citizens). So now Canadian universities rely too much on international students to operate and it becomes an exploitative relationship even before students step foot on the campus. The new PGWP eligibility is awful because students can make contributions in every field. It might (and that's a big if) address the pressing problems, but it won't help Canada grow.\n\nI thought the new language requirement was interesting. Some Canadians who immigrated decades ago when the bar was really low still speak English poorly and now they are saying people can’t come to Canada because their language skills are not sufficient. Another point about language is if you apply through Express Entry now, even if you scored the highest language score, given how competitive the pool is, you still won’t get selected. So it’s a given that you need to be fluent in one of the languages at least to get an invitation. Express Entry also selects only the top people, I saw the head of The Institute for Canadian Citizenship in interviews talking about those top-tier people only expect the best treatment/lifestyle when they come to Canada. That's why many of them leave after seeing these Canadian problems play out. But I believe a good Canadian life is not about living in a high rise in Vancouver and Toronto, driving an expensive car, or buying luxury items...it's about the communities, nature and middle-class comfort. So the system is giving PRs to the wrong kind of people (just like mismatched people when hiring that don't align with company values).\n\nThis brings me to the last frustrating issue. There were so many people who attended “fake” universities and bought “fake” jobs to earn points to get an Express Entry invitation. And it's clear that the government wasn't proactively catching these abuses. They are taking up spots from those who try to earn the points fair and square. If I understand correctly, Canada doesn’t send these people away if they are found out (since some of them were scammed). So they still take up immigration quotas.\n\nI have wanted to move to Canada for a long time. I have visited Canada many times, hiking trails through the coastline and fjords, climbing mountains and glaciers. I lived in Montreal for two months to improve my French and I was told by my homestay family that I was the first student they had who didn’t complain about the cold (I wish the winter never ends so I can skate or xc ski in the parks year-round). I have probably seen more Canada than many Canadians and I love every bit of it. But the opportunity for me to even get a shot to move there is pretty much nonexistent now. Hello Anna and Anastasia your channel is truly a hidden gem full of useful information and insight. I am an international student myself and I agree with all your points in the video, Canada used immigration to fix a deeper problem and that is its difficulty to incentivize the economy by having a heavily regulated environment, high taxes and low productivity. It will definitely alleviate some of the pressure on the system but, the real cause is still there. The first sector that is going to be affected will be the education as colleges and universities became over reliant with the revenue coming from Int. Students (which is not particularly small) and institution will need to adapt. When I first came here I fell in love with the country and I really feel fortunate to enjoy this beautiful place and doing everything to assimilate and integrate myself into the culture. I think here you can have a sense of hope of things improving in the future (something that is not the case in my home country) but if they do not fix the underlying problem it does not matter how much immigration they reduce, Canadians will not see a significant improvement. The Ford EV one of my friends drive was made in Mexico. Another friend told me that her refrigerator and tv was made in Mexico as well. So, I think the general population is (including myself) a little ignorant about where the household items we use everyday come from. It's not just avocados, tomatoes, beer, and tequila and immigrants arriving from the southern border. As for Canada, we import most of our gas from there, as well as, precious metals. I suppose that if we are struggling financially now, what is coming our way might be a little worse for some people. I have friends that say that prices going up does not affect their budget at all. Tariffs are an effective negotiation tool Trump used during his first term. Mexico does very little with cartels who run the border. They don't stop the trains and caravans coming through their country or enforce the stay-in-Mexico rule but...they will on Jan 20th, 2025.
