It's funny, but I moved from Russia to Germany in 2019, believing that it was a rich country with cool jobs. During a few years of living in Germany, I understood that I have less money after taxes than in poor Russia. Besides, the prices of everything are higher. 1000 Euro is enough to live in Russia as well as 3000 Euro in Germany. I'm not joking. Germany is just a good picture, but you will struggle to live there. And I can't image how I could buy an apartment there. For a flat in Berlin I need around 300k, but from my 72k income I could save only 10-12k. It could take the whole adult life to buy a flat. That's unacceptable for me

I do think it's worth pointing out that the cheap labour reduces incentives for companies to invest in increasing productivity. I think the high real estate costs might be a problem too - too much of Canada's available capital is going towards expanding housing supply and not enough on better technology - software, equipment, etc. I think part of the stagnant productivity has been due to lack of investment in technology, rather than laziness of workers. It's also worth pointing out that a lot of the workforce has been in government, which has been spending more and more money while not having much to show for it, so productivity in the government is another issue too. Bureaucracy and red tape can also be detrimental to productivity in both governments and the private sector. Maybe Canada needs more competitiveness (ex with telecommunications). Lack of training could be an other obstacle to productivity, or for example... not speaking English properly. Sometimes when I get customer service with an Indian, I have to make him repeat 5 times because of his extremely thick accent. He might not be lazy and trying his best, but still not very productive. \n\nWith slavery in the US, the South has been rather inefficient with their labour because slaves were relatively cheap (still had to feed and house them). Our roads and buildings are constantly under construction, and it’s never enough. I suspect crooked construction companies of cutting a lot of corners so that nothing lasts as long as it used to. A humanitarian visa is $730, and only good for one use. We can't afford that. We went for a tourist visa, with a emergency appointment. They approved the emergency appointment, then promptly denied my husband's visa, without even asking him WHY he wanted to go to The US. Fighting cancer alone is exhausting. Why is that not a good enough reason for my husband to go to The US with me? Only for my appointments. Why is that not good enough? I guess he'll meet my family at my funeral, but not before.

Interestingly enough, the clip where the girl is complaining about having the rent increased by $7000 is not Trudeau's fault (Liberal government) but Doug Ford's, who's Conservative and the premier (like a governor in the US) of Ontario. He removed the limits on rent increases on properties occupied for the first time after Nov 15 2018. So now, if you want make a few more bucks or just kick someone out just jack the rent so they can't afford it and have to leave (usually you can't just end a lease agreement because you want to but not anymore as you can just increase it to whatever you want). Once you move inside America, you want American politicians to care about people inside America rather than people outside America. The politician's first duty is towards his/her citizens. You cannot have homeless Americans while illegal immigrants are being put up in hotels. \nThe real question is, does the USA need more unskilled people, whose primary contribution is manual labor? More and more jobs are going to be lost to AI/Robotics. Think of the scenario where you will have vast swathes of the population unemployed or underemployed. Is that desirable? Think of the chaos that will cause. More doctors and scientists are always welcome to immigrate anytime, and such folks all do so legally. \nThere are enough people already in America to do what needs to be done. We need to first build infrastructure using existing citizens to enable the next wave of immigrants (several years later) to move here. You just cannot have more and more people put more pressure on an already crumbling and ageing infrastructure, driving up rents for low-income Americans.

Do those ignorant politicians understand there are MANY jods that Americans won't work because they are hard and dangerous with low pay. Many come into the US just for those jobs. Usually they will only stay a few years, until the saved enough, than go back to the homes. Anyone who is undocumented needs to be deported. But the Israeli lobby wants American citizens who criticize Israel to be stripped of their citizenship and deported as well. I am Canadian, and my advice to ALL Indian students is to GO BACK TO INDIA NOW!! If you were scammed in your country by an Indian International Student Agency, that is your fault, and an International Student visa is not the path to a permanent residency visa! We do not need you in Canada;>we have more than enough problems in Canada to take care of you! Canadian FIRST!!!! NO MORE INDIAN STUDENTS!!!!!!!!!
