The northern border is too sparsely populated to police it. In New Hampshire, we recently spent about $500K for additional border security. It was for a few police officers and some equipment to patrol in bad weather and rough terrain. The police have typical police duties too. All those lamenting on the state of Canada and planing to pack their bags and going off to another country, to another continent... Do not forget that you are able to do that largely due to the fact that you are a Canadian citizen, holding a Canadian passport. How many people are willing to give up their passports to live in some Asian country for example, in the Middle East for example. Not many people for sure. When I a Canadian went to live in another country we had to pay private healthcare insurance, also were responsible for the cost of of education for our children at private institutions ?? I've lived in Delhi x 2 months. Food poisoning, unsanitary, horrible air quality, open religion hatred, rape and murder are common. The small minority of economic secure people are few. Famous Cricket playets, bollywood actress and high level politicians are wealthy enough...the rest are poor AF. You don't want them in your country.

Misleading people about where they're going (detention camp vs flight) is just wrong.
