SO true about the tap water, lol! I've lived in 3 Texas cities, LA, SF, Oklahoma and Ohio, but the ONLY place of those that had even remotely decent water was SF (and IN the city... the surrounding areas still sucked). Then I moved to Edmonton and lived in 5 different buildings and the water was great everywhere. My fellow Edmontonians beg to differ, but they don't' know what they got. But then I moved to the country and my well water is horrific. :( So we fill up jugs of water at my kid's place in the city haha!\n\nLegit, the best thing about moving up here though is the healthcare. One thing people don't think about is not only do you save on your actual doctor visits, but you save month to month as well. YES, you pay for it with your taxes, but I've found that my taxes here are almost exactly break-even with mine in California, and now I don't have to pay out of pocket for my insurance in addition. Not to mention for the same taxes overall things like roads, registries (dmv), and pretty much everything else the government does is more efficient and better. \n\nMain thing I miss from the US day-to-day is 1: food. Outside of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, you don't get much good variety. 2: good speeds and affordable f'ing internet. Canadian internet is EXPENSIVE as FACK and not overly fast compared to pretty much every other first world nation.

I was born and raised in Canada. My family immigrated in the 70s. Growing up I was proud to be Canadian but after living in other parts of the world I can tell you, Canada isn't it! \n\nFirstly our Prime Minister is a puppet he works for the Commonwealth and whatever they say goes, they profit off all of your hard work. \nThey keep you sick so you rely on the health care system. Medicate you instead of solving the problem. Doctors are exhausted, rude and over worked, emergency rooms are a disaster and if you book an appointment to see your doctor...be sure you're waiting at least a week. If you go to a walk in clinic you risk getting a doctor that seems like they paid for a fake degree.\n\nYou know when you go to a mall in one town and then hear about a mall in another town that has really cool different things??? Ya, not here! Everything is monopolized! Same stores everywhere you go. there's a mall in Toronto called Vaughn Mills mall, when I was in Calgary they have an exact replica just a different name. Small businesses are hard to keep because everything is so expensive. There needs to be more indoor things for people to do in the winter. \n\nWhoever said Canadians are polite, has never been to Alberta!!!! Hi ladies. These are exactly the same situation here in the UK. I have been living in London since 1986 and surviving over here especially for those just arriving can be so frustrating. I often wonder why so many of our people are still struggling to come and live in these countries. I know you speak about the USA being better however I have a numbers of family and friends living in America and they are complaining about how hard you have to work in order to make ends meet. The answer to that could be the fact that many immigrants especially from Africa don't feel safe in their own home countries and bad leaders who continually fail to provide any opportunities for their youths and citizens. Thanks for sharing this vital information as many people think these western countries are paradise until they arrive and face the bare realities.

I don't know exactly where you live. Like every big country, they is more boring and less boring States. All Canada not only Vancouver it’s very isolated.\nPeople can’t afford to buy a house because the house marketing is 3 times the price compared to USA. The houses have shitty materials compared to my original country, and you simply can’t built by your own and that’s why every price rises.\nAnother issue you didn’t mention it’s there is no scholarships, it’s incredible expensive to get a proper education like university, and even so, they no offered scholarships. In Mexico almost everyone can reach the opportunity to study to be anything (lawyers, doctors) AND there is why you can get professional services everywhere. Here in Canada the business never have profesional services (like a real Human Resources, who studies for 5 years to be the best influence in a company, or a real engineering taking care of the machines in a plant. Canada only hire the cheap hand to avoid paying and I can understand it, but if more people could study more money moves in the country.\nAnother issue is there is not any public transportation into the cities or provinces, so if you don’t have a car, a driver license (it’s not easy to get one) and pay the super expensive insurance (it’s incredible 10 times more expensive than in Mexico) your can’t move from the place you are. Because of the weather you simply can’t move in a bike.\nPeople live just for pay rent, buy some groceries and buy some pre owned cloths in the thrift store.\nAnother problem it’s many rules to open a small bussines (like selling some food) \nHealth care it’s not exactly free: you need to pay for your prescriptions out of the hospital or if you never been hospitalized. And it’s very expensive to pay for them. You have to wait (to be true emergencies are different, they are good on that) you have to wait like 12-24 months to get an appointment with a specialist (gynecologist, etc) dental is not covered. \n\nExcuse my English I know it’s not very good but I love your video and I had to left my comments

I hear you very well my brother. My only issue about this is that it seems like you came there to judge their lifestyles, and how they do things. I mean you know exactly why you relocated there and there are even good countries in Africa or outside where in which you could have stayed which would have accommodated the type of person you are. I am an introvert and I would definitely enjoy staying there because less contact with people gives me more energy and happiness. It is very vital to be prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually when you relocate to a different place. That is why doing prior research about the environment you are moving to is important. I am assuming you are temporarily just staying there, right? I mean like most of your family is back home in Africa. Then, why are you stressing yourself out?

Pretty good Adam I'd just mention a few of those things are...I don't want to say inaccurate but way more diverse. For instance French. Yes Quebec is the only French province BUT New Brunswick is the only Bilingual province and basically half and half. This is good for things like federal of provincial services because by law they must provide service in both languages but not so basically everywhere else. The problem with this is you can have an almost completely English town almost nobody speaks French and drive 15 minutes and be in a town where nobody speaks English. Research on this might be hard because a town with a French name may not have any French people in and vise versa. Also this problem is multiplied in the fact that if you Do want a French area we don't speak standard French or Quebecois but instead Le Chiac which is a difficult and confusing mix of old French and english (almost exactly like the Cajun dialect). Second part of this is that Montreal is easy to live in if you don't speak French and is so multicultural you are just apt to hear Swahili as French in public. Last part is be very careful where you move on the prairies as they have may isolated towns some that speak French also. Next is tipping I've never had to tip anyone for a haircut outside of the military and all other forms of tipping here on the east coast are purely optional and wait staff don't get upset if you don't leave a tip unless you were a jerk or left them extra work like making a big mess (I worked as cook for a while after I got out of the army and I rarely ever head staff complain) HOWEVER....tip a waitress well and she might accidentally give you 2 pieces of pie lol and tip a taxi driver well and he will not only get you the cheapest fare he will find ANYTHING you may need no questions asked. Lastly on the nice thing....we are nice for sure especially compared to our southern neighbours BUT there is a lot of passive aggressive nice that happens and this also varies greatly. For instance as a city boy of course you answered the way you did but a guy who have lived all over this country in big and small, French and English places who now has retired to a rural town I can say I find the cities quite snobby and the French and the English can be quite snobby to each other and where I live now if you asked a random stranger for 5$ chances are you would get it also driving down the road people you don't know will just wave at you as if you were the closest friends. Canada is certainly a weird place so many extremes and my advice to anyone wanting to move here is do your research and then visit and travel a bit if possible because even us Canadians can be surprised by thing or two across this gigantic country

This is almost exactly like Sweden, but with a few key differences.\n- Healthcare (including dental care) is free for everyone below the age of 18, after that it's really cheap compared to the U.S.\n- You're not expected to tip anyone, at any occasion.\n- Taxes are way higher, (30% mentioned in the video is roughly the amount the lowest income takers pay, rather than the highest, I know someone who pays a little above 60% in tax each month)\n- Although you come a long way with just English, the language is necessary for living long term.\n\nAnyhow, very informative video! I learned something new today from watching this documentary, the fact that they actually named a town & a park Africville in the great white north. Some people are naive while others are not when it comes to racism. The very fact of the world has been conquered & dominated with the white supremacy mentality leave very little to be surprise that Canada had slaves. I think from what I've come to understands is that having slavery for 250 yrs most white Canadians will pretend to not be racist, but it's like those two kids in your class the one who had the paper thrown at him & the one who did it doesn't act like he did anything & the rest are just as bad because they saw who did it but are complicit by not saying anything. I’m confused about something. \nIf there’s not many customers in the store and they’re ones that are just looking around for almost 30 minutes and theres a bunch of workers, wouldn’t they be normal to ask “Can I help you” a lot because they are bored and actually want to do something helpful at their job...? \nI used to help in a library if anybody was looking for something I’d try to help them so that they could find what they’re looking for right away instead of wasting time. If I saw anybody just browsing or wandering around for almost half an hour I would totally ask to see if I could help them. Better to try than not help at all. Why get paid to do nothing? It is ridiculous that Canada and US do not even know if a particular individual have existed the country. Esp. when the benefits they are seeking are within the same agency. The US it’s all DHS. People have to file FOIA request to request the agency for information they hold in order to give it back to the exact same agency as evidence. Just beyond any logic.

These people heard Trudeau speak about open arms at the height of the Syrian refugee crisis. I don't remember his exact words but I'm sure he didn't mean come one, come all, forever and ever. Every country has immigration restrictions and it's sad that people who are uneducated or don't speak multiple languages don't have the resources to research their best options. This is where international, or bilateral assistance programs between countries need to help each other.
