Similar problems to many western European countries, the USA, and Australia. Especially around larger cites. Not enough jobs, not enough housing for the people.

In Europe the same issues. Do the math people, you cant just keep the borders open when you know there isnt enough housing options. Its simple !

I love immigrants, they're what make our country so special all the different cultures coming together. The problem right now is because of terrible government mismanagement we don't have enough housing or jobs for everyone already here. That's my only reason for wanting to pause immigration. It's like being on a life raft that's already full, you can't take more even if you want to.

Builders are in need of buyers and renters but there aren’t enough jobs that pay for housing payments or rent costs. It’s a scam perpetuated by wealthy real estate investors. It’s 2024, not 1890.

The Trudeau Liberals opened our borders without having the housing or jobs infrastructure in place. Trudeau has destroyed our economy and increased out taxes to the point that new home construction has ground to a halt.\n\nTrudeau has declared that he'll build enough homes in the next few years to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, the rate of new home construction that he's declared calculates out to one new home completed every minute (24 hours a day) for the next ten years. We don't have the contractors, builders, or workers to accomplish this. We don't have a plan for this. Trudeau constantly declares his wild, pie in the sky promises without a step by step plan.

It’s not racism. Canada is a nation of immigrants. Immigrants are always welcome. The problem is that there is a housing crisis in Canada. Increasing numbers of of Canadians are becoming homeless and ending up in homeless shelters or in tents encampments. There is a belief by many that our government is allowing in ever growing numbers of immigrants while at the same time marginalizing long term Canadians. In addition to a lack of affordable housing, there are not enough jobs. My son, a university student, had trouble finding a summer job. Temporary foreign workers were taking jobs that Canadians would normally do. No wonder there is a def of resentment against immigrants. The Canadian government is at fault for mismanaging both our economy and the imm system.

If there is not enough housing, just build more. What's the big deal? I simply don't understand.

So many people come and commit crimes, ignore our laws and live off the government. We needed certain skilled people and I could care less what country they come from as that immigration is crucial to our economy and population. Right now there isn't enough housing for our own citizens. It's irresponsible. If families want to sponsor an immigrant family that's awesome. The rest of us want our tax money actually going to our citizens. That's not racist, that's common sense.

As an American I watched because I wanted a realistic perspective of the issues with immigration from a place that typically loves immigration. I completely agree with the Daniel Bernhard that the real issue (including the US) is the laws and policies put in place that don't allow for what should be a natural growth of the population. Questions should be asked like Why do we not have enough housing, jobs, healthcare, etc. The cost of everything going up is not singularly the fault of immigrants, and stopping immigration will NOT solve those problems.

The point is free market doesn't regulate housing crisis. The government doesn't provide jobs in building housing. Canada is nothing but vast lands, that means enough place to build housing. Come on.

How on earth do you just live for 4 years in someone else’s house and not pay rent? This is unfathomable to me. I have a rental property and so far, so good. I had no idea this kind of thing could happen. It makes me angry enough just watching this to have the thought of meeting them in the lobby if this ever happened to me. The law is too unfair.

To sum it up: It is gross mismanagement on the Canadian government's part by not building enough housing but pouring down millions of immigrants.

Our nations are our homes. Our borders are the national equivalent of the walls and doors of our houses. We, our parents and grandparents have worked hard to make our nation/homes comfortable for our children and our children's children, who are, oddly enough, of the same race as ourselves. Power stations, water and power distribution networks, sewerage, buildings, mines and farms etc. did not fall from the sky.\n\nBurglars want better lives. That is why they go into other people's homes to get a share of the stuff that the residents have worked had to pay for. Modern migrants are like burglars. Our governments are giving our homes away to burglars.

WE also don’t t have enough usable land to produce food, And Set up infrastructure that is affordable. We already have high costs of living in very under-serviced areas. The space that is already used for the population of canada is already over populated, and overpriced housing and living costs for our citizens.

sigh.... what do u expect EU to do for you? EU has housing millions of migrants now, they dont want anymore. Most migrants and refugees all wanan go to germany, france, uk... They had enough also. Meanwhile, eastern border countries dont wanna accept these people also, because they know the western european countries wont want them either. Nobody wants to accept these migrants. Wow trudeau in my opinion ruined Canada now companies are allowed to advertise on government job board for 28 days if they claim no persond can do the job the can brong in temporary foreign workers so cheaper workers over 600,000 a year excempt from foreignbuyer rule and fast tracked to permanent residents. You'd think that with all these immigrants you'd have quite a labor force to build the needed houses, but still they are not building enough housing. Maybe that's not the immigrants' fault, maybe keeping a small housing supply benefits people in power.

Similar things happening in parts of Australia, high rents people being pushed out of suburbs where they use to live, Immigrants, uni students doing Uber or Doordash just to get by and finding careers they study for won’t exist or over saturated. Most people realize this has nothing to do with a persons race. Its population size. When you increase population size drastically it effects infrasture when government dont invest x amount of dollars into system. You have to plan. Look at our housing market. SUPPLY AND DEMAND ISSUES. When you increase population size and there's not enough homes to house people that only increases the costs. Whats going on is suicide to alot of people. Also media does not want to report why Liberal government has 4x increased immigration in a yr span compared to 1x. Also why is there racial preference for India? The amount of immigration coming in from India is much higher then other races. I'm curious about that.

This situation applies to Australia. The Scott Morrison administration (and ongoing) brought hundreds of thousands of Indians each year, and there is not enough housing. Now Australians are struggling with skyrocket housing prices.

The Liberals haven’t worked hard enough to solve the problem and Trudeau himself said housing isn’t the Federal Government’s responsibility when it is, not only is it a Federal issue but it’s an issue at all levels of government. Liberals are more interested in the economy, rather than the quality of life for its citizens. Canada is no longer a dream country where immigrants will thrive. It’s only the generational wealthy, real estate developers and foreign investors who thrive.

The federal government failed on immigration. They correctly identified the demographic needs but ignored everything else. There was already not enough housing nationally and then the government added millions of more people also needing housing. Then it also seems that a high percentage of immigrants have been priotorized incorrectly many having little education or needed skill sets.

No standards in terms of who we bring into the country, it's mostly people who are here to exploit the system or don't contribute in any way. It's just the government doing this unchecked and banks and others lobbying for it because it's just untapped source of victims they can exploit as well. Then there just isn't enough housing available, that's no secret. So for people like this Daniel Bernhard guy to say it isn't the massive influx of people causing any issues is incredibly disingenuous. \nIf you increase immigration, be more selective and not all from the same country. There needs to be more control over the entire immigration system so it doesn't spiral out of control and now everyone is suffering, not just those coming to this country.

It's easy to blame immigrants and PM Trudeau for infrastructure and housing issues, but these are long-standing problems. Canada, especially Toronto, hasn't built enough housing for decades under multiple prime ministers. Inflation and interest rates have worsened the situation, and it's not just about building more affordable homes.\n\nThese are complex problems. Canada, like all developed nations, needs immigration. Move to a different province if necessary.\n\nI am Ukrainian myself. I landed in Canada in 2021 and worked on a farm for almost minimum wage for two years. However, I got almost free housing and obtained my PR. \n\nThen I got a better job. There are plenty of jobs in Alberta where employers provide accommodation almost for free or completely free. The job may not be the best, but you can save money quickly. That's what I did. I worked another year for a sewer company, completed my trucking school, and now I have my Class 1. \n\nSome companies even pay for your trucking school, but you have to sign a contract for 1 or 2 years. They might not pay much, but hey, you'll get your Class 1. \n\nYou need to read more forums and talk with more people. Don’t just sit and wait for a miracle.

The ruling class is using immigrants as cheap labor. They don't care about their well being nor do they care about that of Canadian citizens. They want to bring in about 550K each year going forward when people are suffering. They don't build nearly enough homes or rental units. We don't have enough doctors and nurses. We get paid West Virginia wages but must pay California level housing costs. Diploma mills have sprung up like crazy charging $40,000 for worthless degrees. There are not enough jobs that pay even minimum wage. As a consequence many who immigrate to Canada leave after a year or two. Those smiling faces you see in this video are of those who are don't yet know the truth!

As well as housing, Canada doesn't have the enough doctors or hospitals and staff to deal with more population. Our health care is in crisis.

The only hope for this country is Poilievre. I say this as someone who is shall we say less than enamored of him. But he's the only guy who is going to slow this flood down, and he's said he will do just that. For decades, the real estate developers have argued that there’s not enough supply of housing. There is not enough supply. But why and what kind of supply do we need? Recently the mayor of Burnaby pointed out that he grew up in a co-op. I also live in a co-op, the federal government stop building these in the 1980s. The mayors argument was that the number of co-ops kept prices down and provided affordable, and very excellent housing. There’s something to this. None of the solutions the government has offered have done anything but make real estate, developers and foreign investors, and also domestic investors richer.what is needed is a massive co-op building program that starts tomorrow. Something in the trillion dollar range. This will provide excellent housing for all kinds of levels of income. But it won’t make developers really rich, or real estate investors.

Available and affordable housing is a difficult enough to maintain anywhere. It should be available to citizens of Canada first. Same in the US..

I wouldnt be surprised if Canadian citizens and permanent residents are entering illegally. Its too expensive here and there's not enough housing. Also no freedom of speech. I think it was last year or this year where more left Canada than actually came in.

We are not nice, we are passive aggressive, we love foreigners who come to this country to launder their dirty money in real estate (up up go the housing prices), the RCMP is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (not patrol) and Mexicans who have no previous ties or status in Canada DO need a visa to enter. Canada has accepted an insane amount of Uber / amazon driving immigrants over the past few years to boost the GDP, unfortunately our infrastructure across the country is lacking. We don't have enough homes, schools, hospitals, doctors, good jobs for the people that are already here. Immigrants are conned and sold a lie, going to the USA only makes sense. Both of our countries need immigration reform.
