This is pretty hard to describe as multiculturalism. I have no issue with Indian Canadians whatsoever. A lot of really good hard working poeple come here from there, and I respect their culture. My concern is how we maintain Canadian amid this type of immigration 15:21 seems like there is no real attempt to integrate new Canadians to our system and beliefs. We don't want to end up like Europe where foreign cultures have imposed themselves on the population. We shouldn't have to adapt or adjust to other cultures they came here to share and improve our way of life. Canada has a dignified history worthy of preservation despite our mistakes in the past. Our grandparents didn't lay their lives down for to capitulate in becoming a post national state.\nOur leaders are bringing shame to the sacrifice of previous generations.

To be honest, there are too many Indians immigrating to Canada and they take over all the jobs in government units. Even with new policies, Indian officials will follow India's corrupt ways. Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

Wrong information. Students and new immigrants including work permits just pay 1000 dollars for 1 bedroom basement apartment in Toronto. Many Indian home owners give them rents at much lower price than the market rate which goes up to 1400 dollars a month but since they are Indians and new to Canada they give them for 1000 dollars a month. If students 3 people live in that, if families 2 people. Indian home owners do that for food cooking smells and other reasons. I see some new immigrants both working couple make up to 90k per year but still live in basement apartments for more than 3 years to save money. Indians are money saving people, do not want to spend money.

I was born and raised in Toronto. The Trudeau government has absolutely destroyed our economy and is now scamming poor developing nations to come here and work as wage slaves while packing 25 dudes into a basement. Their diplomas have no real value anymore. Every place has its positives and negatives. Canada is beautiful, clean and green. The people are polite and friendly at a superficial level and the infrastructure is great. But for a new immigrant it's very difficult to make new social contacts or even to get a good job. The cost of living is high and housing costs are exhorbitant. The medical system is terrible with people having to wait weeks to meet a specialist \n\n Indian cities are mostly dirty, polluted and chaotic with poor infrastructure. There is rampant corruption and people can be rude and obnoxious especially while driving. But you can get help for everything and living costs are affordable. Plus the social contacts ..family and friends around are priceless. The medical system is way better provided you have some money.

I really dislike Canada now because it is so segregated and overly progressive. A large portion of Chinese and Indians are not a fabric of society and are outsiders in their own ethnic enclaves. I already left, and so are many fellow Canadians like me. If you want immigration you need a cood down period so that these immigrants learn to adapt to the culture first rather than allowing these communities to become the new Canada.

Canada, ha you mean India, in the last decade 100s of 1000s of Indians have flooded to Southern Ontario (which by all measures is Canada) to the point that sometimes one feels like they are stranger in a strange land. Of the 2.2 million who arrived last year approx 500,000 are students They are huge profit centre for landlords and colleges and universities. And let's not talk about healthcare!!!\n\nThe other huge issue is healthcare - forget about getting a family doctor these days it's a choice between MAID or going to the US to get life saving healthcare (paid out of pocket of course). Long term not much will change - discussing immigration is still verboten in Canada and while I expect the Conservatives to form the next majority government thier policies mirror those of the Liberals.\n\nBTW it's not a half million per year it's well over a million new comers per year!

Here is the reality of Canada, experienced by both native Canadians and new Indian immigrants: No matter what your education, there is an extreme shortage of jobs for highly skilled workers. The result is that Canadian and Indian graduates work in minimum-wage jobs for all of their life. Rents are rising at 15% to 25% per year, but wages are barely rising at all. It has now reached the point where people are starting to live in their cars since they can't afford to pay the rent. Even 4 people living together and splitting the cost is not enough to afford the rents that are now being charged. Health Care? What health care, there is none in Canada; if you get sick you just might die waiting 24+ hours to see a doctor at the hospital.

You have tried to explain very well the initial struggle faced by new immigrants. This does take years and sometimes decades to settle down properly in a new country for first generation. First generation Indians try to save as much as they can while cutting corners. Things have relatively become much easier as there are plenty of jobs for those who have professional degrees and substantial experience. I personally found Canadian bachelor of engineering was far superior than masters of computer science in USA. I enjoyed spending four years in downtown Toronto while full time studying in late 80’s before moving back to USA. Someone else mentioned here in previous thread that all of their friends are much better off in India. I feel more or less the same way in spite of having three engineering degrees and 40 years experience. I am strong believer in Karmas, your destiny will take you where you’re supposed to be. Look as a product of an immigrant father myself, we simply can't afford to take care of the Canadians we have, never mind all these people who come to Canada with no jobs, no housing, no money, possibly no ability to speak English or French. Like it or not, our taxes are going up and our services are going down. The government is focused on GDP numbers as opposed to GDP per capita, which essentially means while our production numbers are artificially enhanced the quality of life per person is rapidly declining. We're talking about flooding Ontario with 500,000 new immigrants, God knows how many Indian paypigs... I mean students for colleges and universities, as our government is giving tax breaks to Atlantic Canadians and torturing everyone else for going greener with natural gas. We're living in a country where it is very possible to hold down multiple jobs and still be homeless in 2024 and we're talking about more immigrants? We can't afford the people we have now and we're talking about bringing in more? Who's building the homes for these people? The last couple million of immigrants who were supposed to build homes didn't build anything so now we're bring in more to build homes for the last couple million who were supposed to build homes plus Canadians who has been here for more than a July on a sidewalk.

I am Indian and if I had to immigrate I would only choose english speaking countries except UK, I am fine with USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND. But I can't, I have too much duties in my own country here, I have to look after my Grandpa, Grandma, mom, dad, sis, uncle who is in his 50s and ill, so...... Immigrating is not an easy task, people who might hate immigrants should know a lot of them had to sacrifice.

Immigration boom is our new slave class here to service our mortgages on our inventiment properties. As well filling our labour jobs that pay minimum wage that no one wants to work. I love our new Indian slave class, made me wealthy as well as my friends. Don't have to worry about unions, living wage bs, benefits, etc in our businesses. Just good 'ol cheap labour. big problem with the housing is also trudeau taking in so many immigrants and refugees before having enough available housing for everybody. I think they were taking in 200k people a year. while we need atleast 1million new houses within the next 10 years in order to supply enough to the population. There was also an issue with forieign purchases where people from other countries were buying houses in canada and nobody living in them. Trudeaus votes comes from majority indian people and arabic since thats a lot of the population in canada, and to win those votes and get more hes friendly with them accepting a lot of immigrants from those countries, its not a bad thing since a lot are very well educated and their peaceful people for the most part, but the problem is there isn't enough housing. Even renting has become competitive , owning is near impossible without help. Trudeau really messed up the country, houses are riduclously expensive and they often go into bidding wars if in a good area, banks interest rates keep going up now, loans are harder to take out, sadly we need to limit the amount of immigrants that come into the country until the right number of houses are built in the country, if anything new and major cities need ot be build in other locations with jobs in order to get more people spread out around the provinces. Once there is enough houses and jobs i believe the doors should be open to whomever wishes to come (obviously with a background check) but until then there should be a limit so the houses stop going up.

There were so many people of so many different cultures living there that the crime was so high and the solution the city came up with at the end of the 1950’s and into the early 1960’s was to tear the whole section of the city down and build it up again into something new. So, the first generations of immigrants into the US staying amongst themselves is actually a good thing, it’s because they’re too different to get along. Only the later, more Americanized generations can intermingle with far less problems. Same thing was true when the colonists were trying to live among the Indians, too many cultural differences lead to many, many, MANY conflicts, and they were initiated on both sides.

And there is one important fact that you missed in this documentary. It is Indian(racial) people taking advantage of these young India people like us not Canadians! The same immigrants who immigrated to Canada from India couple years ago are taking advantages of new people coming now. These private colleges are run by India nationals to make profit from recruiting people from Punjab. And India landlords taking advantages of new international India students and it is Indian (racial) employers who is taking advantage of international students to do more work!

I hope you don't underestimate Europe's existing problems when i went to London 4 years ago i was shocked that it wasnt the place i imagined it to be no need to explain im sure you understand what i mean. Im an Asian immigrant, but i wasnt expecting that i couldnt even see a caucasian in London mostly arabs, blacks, indians, some asians i do not hate it but im just confused i worked in the middle east for 10 yrs and i was hearing arabic speaking everywhere, also asian language its like im in Vancouver or Surrey area. Local Brampton Mayors and Ontario gov never tried to put/invite some universities, hospitals and white collar jobs in Brampton, due to that Brampton became mostly bedroom community and all mix people started leaving city by seeing huge influx of South Asian population. Most people in Brampton are either truck driver, construction worker or labourer working in warehouse, while North-West part of Brampton is mostly young IT people working in Downtown or Mississuaga. I personally don’t know a single person who works in Brampton. But, still every Indian wants to live in Brampton just because of food & brown community. Now Brampton will become more brown and brown every year, just because there is no reason for other community to come and live in Brampton, no white collar jobs, not many hospitals or colleges or universty which can bring mix crowd. Brampton will be 100% south asian in next 10 years as most 50%+ new immigrants to Canada are from South Asia and every year 450000 new immigrants comes to Canada!

I grew up in BRAMALEA, now incorporated with Brampton. BRAMALEA was an idyllic community made up primarily of Brits, European, and African-Canadians. Then Justin’s Dad (Pierre) opened the floodgates of immigration in the ‘70’s to ensure his re-election while transforming Canada into a Socialist Society (Socialized “Free” Health Care paid for by mammoth taxes on the middle class) while promoting “Multiculturalism” as the new Canadian Utopia. In his later years, while close to death, Pierre declared that “Multiculturalism DOESN’T WORK!” And, guess what? Neither does “Free” Healthcare!” As each culture swelled, they felt as though they didn’t need to assimilate. When I return to Canada/Brampton to visit family, I’m disgusted! The Indian residents (who Now comprise about 90% of BRAMLADESH’s population) do NOT look after their housing/property. The older/original neighborhoods where I grew up (well-cared for homes with manicured lawns, lush green-belts with pathways connecting neighborhoods and parks) now borders on slum-like conditions. It’s sad and downright depressing when I visit. All of my high school friends have fled the dilapidated area, and no wonder! Canada’s lax immigration laws, failed “Multiculturalism” and Socialist welfare system have all destroyed Canadian culture AND their middle class (strangled by immense taxation). I was fortunate to have grown up in the BRAMALEA of old, but I am so blessed to have escaped when I did! ??

Before I moved to Brampton, I had no idea HOW MANY Indians actually lived here. I'm of south Asian descent but I grew up here as a Canadian. I still keep my culture but I'm Canadian FIRST. It's true too, some of them don't believe in deodorant, holy shit I literally had to tell a guy who sat beside me on the bus that he smelled. I know it was rude but if someone doesn't tell these people, they will think not wearing deodorant is normal. I miss the Canada I grew up in. My friends were mostly white but there was a nice mix of us: white, black, asian so we all got along. Today, everyone is in their own groups, strangers are the enemy, there is so much more segregation than there has ever been. Not long ago at a Tim Hortons I heard an Indian guy who was clearly new to the country telling his friend he didn't have to learn English because everyone in Brampton speaks Punjabi, it was insulting hearing that.....Listen up Indians and any immigrants coming here: BEFORE you come here, learn English, LEARN the customs and learn the CANADIAN WAY. You owe it to Canada, give something back before you start taking.
