Canada has been ridiculously good to me and for me, even as I appreciate that this is not the average experience. I came here 36 years ago, when there were jobs looking for people, and not the other way around. Back then we had the choice to skill up some more or go in full force in careers, which worked for many of us. I can see how tough it would be for new immigrants now, especially professionals who were already established back in Africa not wanting to get re-validated in order to practice here. That is a journey best played out by new engineers, doctors and other crucial professions where they have time on their side and not feel like they are giving up much to start from scratch. Canada is great but each person has to weigh their reason for wanting to be here. If the scales tip this way, then one has to fully commit to the move to make it work. Otherwise, truly look to make that success happen wherever you are ..... Africa, Asia or Australia. It IS possible!

I am forced to comment on his first response about working for what you are being paid for. Here in Nigeria workers are already used to liaise affair attitude towards their jobs, they really don’t like to do much with their jobs but they want to be paid. Most workers even closes from work before the actual closing time and they are used to always asking for tips for jobs they are being paid for.

Hi. Thanks for the tips. I am looking for a marketing job anywhere in Canada. I know this video was posted 2 years ago, but is it still possible to recommend a recruiting agency for me? Thanks.

I think this video is right on all topics but in Quebec the government does not allow any religious symbols if you work for the public sector. Canada's medical system is a joke and not a funny one. I have been without a doctor for 6 years now. \nI work in the high rise sector and what she said about the shoe box size homes is completely accurate. I am disgusted with the pathetic size of the average condo unit, now 493 sq feet. Which is the size of a dog house. \nThis video is just the tip of the iceberg when exposing the inefficiencies of the Canadian governance and hypocrisy I see every day.\nThank you for this video!!!!

When you tip , subtract 15% of the total before calculating the tip , otherwise you will be tipping the government

Pro tip: immigrate to Canada and then start your own tech company with 50% lower staffing costs. Hire H1-B talent from the USA and enjoy far greater profits from the start.

Guns and crime and Trump and no abortion and burning books and creationism and Fox News and superiority are just the tip of my resounding NO!!!!!

My mother's elder and younger sister are settled in Markham and Brampton. They often say that more opportunities are available in British Columbia, Edmonton, Winnipeg where population is less whereas Toronto and Ottawa are now reached tipping point. Due to liberal immigration policies getting pr in Canada is easy.

Tipping provides better service in restaurants? I've been to restaurants around the world and from my experience the service is not significantly better in North America and certainly isn't 15-20% better. \nThe other problem with tipping is that I don't get to eat the the smile and false platitudes, what I want in a restaurant is food better than I can cook at home, that's what I'm paying for. \nWhen the food is disappointing I'm not paying extra for it.

1. While McDonald's was originally created in the US there is a 2nd version and its 100% Canadian. After the u.s. McDonald's began franchising one of the brothers became so disgusted with the lack of regulation in the US on what is considered 'food' he moved to Canada and relaunched the chain. While the restaurant named remains the same and a handful of the main burgers the two companies are completely separate and have nothing to do with one another.\n\n2. Gov work, nurses, doctors, teachers, etc have a regulated minimum wage of 7.25 are you ....... kidding me??? 3. The US has no paid maternity leave u have the baby take 2 weeks off unpaid and back work 4. Server's make 2.13 + tips an hour ...... 5. The federal and state government recommend homes in the city have sewage plumbing BUT it is not required. There are literally houses in the southern states with the toilets flushing right into the front or backyard. 6. Perfectly fine to pay a man more than a woman in the US because a woman isnt a man. 7. And if a woman literally becomes a man by changing 'her' name + physically in appearance via surgery/hormones/whatever she still won't get paid the same as a man because she still not viewed as a man: no gender rights. 8. Where's the healthcare when the US has the highest taxes in the world??? 9. Classist. 10. No regulated education. Literally there is no rules on teaching the students these days are learning absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as regulating education in the US anymore 11. The country is over 33 trillion dollars in debt..... It's never going to fix that.\n\nI could go on and on for another hundred reasons before I'd have to Google something else to add to the list but these are only a few of the reasons why any Canadian who knows anything about the US, would never willfully move south of the boarder. American people themselves, aside from a personality trait here or there are fine. Its the demon structure of the country that make America deplorable. Sorry.

1. Healthcare is non-existent. 2. In general, americans are rude and ignorant to others. 2. GUNS - too dangerous with U.S. gun laws. 3. TIPPING: Americans either don't tip or are extremely cheap and ignoant to servers (I am not a server. This has been my observation over several years.) 4. ROADS - U.S. roads are all giant pot-holes. 5. DANGEROUS and Poverty - there are too many areas of poverty and danger. TRUMP and BIDEN! 6. SCHOOLS - Too scary. 7. TRUMP and BIDEN - Nopety, Nope, Nope, Nope! **There are some PROS, but the negatives outweigh these** I can list another 1,000 or so negatives.

A lot of people in the comments complaining and crying but they’re the same people going to Mexican restaurants ordering 50 burritos and not even tipping
|
| 2023-07-18 | 0 |
I appreciate that you are open to hearing these comments- as hard as that might be. Canadians do love our US next door neighbours- most of the US is lovely, most people are good, yes good opportunities exist there. BUT, we have that here in Canada too. So the tipping points about female bodily autonomy, never really worrying about our children’s school safety, EVERYONE being able to get good healthcare (no insurance required), and the more inclusive attitude to people of different sexual orientation/cultures/race makes this country the better option, in my opinion.

14:00 I would have to be making crazy stupid money to consider moving there, and live in a smaller city. Anything else would be out of the question.\n15:32 I live pretty close to Comox, glad to hear from a Californian. It's Vancouver Island, but that's a common mistake. Victoria is the capital of BC and is on the southern tip of the Island.

I didn't like this conversation about the restaurant service, I feel the service is very good. I don't like people (servers) coming several times during our private lunch or dinner. This is a different type of expectation servers to come several times and ask many times. I want to ask them how many tips they are leaving in the restaurant?

I am scandinavian and I would NEVER move to the US, Canada though is one of my favourites if I were to move somewhere else. I agree with the Canadians on reddit on every point. My tip would be - visit Canada and experience yourself why this is the case. You can always make a new home for yourself in Canada, and have an even better life there. With all that you now have learnt about Canada, you're halfway there. Just visit, and see the US/Canada from another point of view. north of the border. Hope you do someday, why miss out on this fantastic country, people and culture anymore?!! Good luck! ???

Mexican border needs to be DMZ zone & patrolled by special national guard unit both sides. Cartels must be labeled as FTOs. This has to stop. Our country is in shambles as is can't even support our own. China's pushing fentanyl through cartels. FTOs it's time cartels are labeled as such. 20 years of desert warfare under our belt it's time to protect our homeland ??\n\nThere's a great opportunity to create enough jobs in Mexico. Stop buying from China. Between covid and fentanyl... Just the tip of the iceberg. Enough of the blind eye... We don't need war. Need the end the BS. Get this chaos under control. Work on corruption... The root cause

WS system has been alive in Canada for many years. It's global . Some places more, other less. Avoid living, visiting in predominant white areas and live, visit either black or diverse areas .HERES A TIP: BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER AND BUILD YOUR OWN EMPIRE OR YOYR OWN INDIVIDUAL EMPIRE. GET ALL THE TOP EDUCATION YOU CAN GET , IT WILL GIVE YOU CONTROL, RESPECT, AND POWER, WEALTH. BECOME LESS DEPENDENT ON THE WS. TAKE A PAGE FROM THE ASIAN. Thats why they are powerful

Thats bullsh*t\nThere is no such things as survival job, Any legal work that brings food on your table is a job\nI have been living here in Canada since last 6 years and never heard any local person here who says this job is survival. This is just a nonsense term created by mainly those indians who immigrated through express entry.\n\nFor example, A Server in fine dine restaurant make anywhere from $3000-4000 including tips which is i believe equivalent to what you are making through your full time job and apart from that server will be physically much more active than you because server doesn't have to sit on chair whole day.

The sad fact is that this is the tip of the iceberg. Climate change, failed governments, economic collapse, and the desire to escape local violence are only a few of the reasons ecouraging people to migrate to the US. Tens of millions are leaving China and many intend to settle in the US as well. If the US can't find a way to stop the flow, it will become unrecognizeable.

This is New York City’s fault not the people but the stock market. If they were giving favorable stock tips rather than setting up people for failure cause some of them died and those stock brokers have to see the mothers they set up the Hispanic and latinx for failure.

People dont realize how badly the pandemic hurt other countries. We just saw the tip of the iceberg in the US compared to everyone else. People are desperate, these people wouldnt be coming here if it weren't for the level of corruption in their own countries.

The successive governments have destroyed the base (farming, fishing, forestry & mining) of our economy, plus squandered our tax dollars on building up the bureaucracies, while ignoring infrastructure. Toss on top of that the unfettered immigration of people who then wind up sucking from our tax dollars through welfare. That's the tip of the iceberg, but fifty years of bad government tells the tale . We're screwed with a capital F.

Venezuelans never tip people from what I hear *******\nAlways ask for discount from what I hear *********\nIs this part of the culture?\nThe same way other cultures have no tips in their restaurants??? \nIs it like when you go to Greece, haggling prices are normal shopping?\nI lived in Venezuela for small time and it was before everything went south. I was younger and didn't really know if that was a thing.

My heart goes out to these people, but the United States has to close down the border deploy the army we cannot taken any more people we can’t even sustain. The ones that have came in. The boat is about the tip, and nobody is noticing or paying attention. this nation is about to collapse.

After world economic forum invents the digital ID. That's when a new system that would be kinder safer\nThan the government will be chosen. After that some kind of peace will be upon the world but until then. There will be time of great trouble such as never was before since the beginning of time. This is all just the tip of the ice berg. According to the bible

To our American neighbors, Trudeau can NOT be trusted. He’ll tip his pitch whenever he tells a lie. Notice that subtle misplaced smile on his face each time he’s about to fib.

Thank u so much you enlightened me so much cuz every body talks only about the bling bling side of Canada but u girls spotted out the tip of the iceberg

These people definitely get tipped off of weak entry points. No judgement on my part I’d do the same if I had to. It’s a rock and a hard place as an American. I don’t mind being a place that people fell safe, but I do mind how it affects me and my family. Like I said, it’s a rock and hard place.

I suspect that this is just the tip of the iceberg. As Climate Change heats up the more southern latitudes this stream of refuges will eventually become a deluge seeking to escape the heat. Perhaps we should start to think now about how we will respond to that as a nation.

usa freedom for christians pro. con no healthcare requirement to tip; canada con cold, less freedom for christians. rent or cost homes pretty much the same.

And the tipping culture is absolutely terrible here. It's impossible to have a sub-standard meal with mediocre service and then having to pay 15% tip. \n\nTravel/ hotel/ prices are absolutely out of this world.

This happened 20 years ago in China. I was one of them. Back then, there was no work permit allowed while studying. I worked under the table for $4 per hour in a restaurant. Luckily I had tips to compensate income. It got me through university. I was lucky to get a good job after graduation. Everything was good afterwards.

Americans pay with powerful us dollar, tip well, don’t bargain !Canada still good country but don’t compare it to the states … not yet ? !!! Canada has too much taxes ,cheap public services, less opportunities, six months of depression ? bureaucratic system

*Australia*\nPros: lack of guns means no one has guns and no one needs guns, fisticuffs is the norm.\nWe dont have tipping here, its covered in the cost of the food.\n\nTax is automatically taken out based on ur income status, so u wont ever have to worry about declaring taxes unless u want to get a tax rebate or tax back.\n\nLower popualtion, so less violence, less altercations, less roadrage, less going postal as no one is really carrying guns.\n\nCons:\nThe creatures that can kill u, u cant see.\nIts hot a lot.\nCost of living is more expensive.\nWe are slightly left leaning.\nAnd we are still catching up technology wise, internet for example.\n\nBut overall Australia is pretty good to live in. My family are scottish italian and ive never really been raised other than Australian. They liked Australia so much they left Italy and scotland at the airport and became proper Australian citisens. Ive had free education, healthcare, free sports, ive had a good run. Australia has been good to me. I would be like a latino/dago or something for trump if i was american lol
