As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Most Americans, love Canada and love our Canadian brothers and sisters, we’ve always supported each other in world, wars, and other attacks against our respective countries. I'm a born Canadian and i'm BAFFLED at how you would turn around and impose tariffs on your closest ally. Canada and the US had a relationship that was built on trust co-operation and trillions of dollars and it means nothing to their current president. I used to be a fan of Trump, but the recent situation with Zelensky along with the tariffs i can see more and more that having him back in office was a huge mistake. Trump obviously doesn't care about how the tariffs affect his country and his people because he responded by threatening to raise the tariffs in retaliation to Canada's response.

@robertedward7023 It can but I think Trump is right on this one. Zelensky needs to realize that he won't get his land back that Russia took, and that negotiating is the only way to come to peace now. He's living in a fairytale world fighting an unwinnable war. I think the US is right to pull the plug on financial aid to try to pressure Zelensky to negotiate to end the war. Unfortunately, to end the war Ukraine will likely have to concede the land they lost. But the reality is Putin will never give that land back. But it's better than more people dying everyday. Zelensky has gotten all too comfortable relying on financial aid and as a result he hasn't been willing to try anything new (like negotiate) to get this war finished. If we keep sending him money, nothing will change. Now he has pressure to negotiate. the US and Canada can't keep sending money to Ukraine for the next 20 years while this war carries on.

What would be interesting to know is how trade between Canada and Europe explodes, Europe would like all the oil and gas and rare earthminerals Canada has, so would China, if for nothing other than to prevent Americas access to it. I think trump and musk think russia will supply rare earth minerals on the cheap, but Russia is about to collapse again and various regions break away as they did last time, but this time is much worse than back then, Russia really could cease to exist and America will not benefit at all, Europe China India Mongolia will benefit.
