The cost of living is so low for them that they could afford a future of prosperity or middle class lifestyle in their country of origin. Force their governments to change economically to sustain themselves for their interests. Imposing themselves upon a nation no longer prospering as it did during and after the Industrial Revolution is senseless. There is hardly any upward mobility in blue collar jobs, ever more so in the labor market. If they are not making $40K/year (assuming the majority has not a college degree in something marketable, advanced skills, a tradesman or artisan) then they’re struggling like everyone else in the service industry. Jobs for teenagers, entry level workers, part time jobseekers like for students, people needing extra income cause it’s so expensive in CA, NY, Austin, TX, Chicago or SF living off work entry-level service jobs. Technology has created a shortage or labor gap between unskilled jobs. Jobs that Americans need while pursuing training or technical degrees for the new skilled jobs. \n\nImmigrants do not need to fit the stereotypes of working in the service industry or as farm workers. American citizens can fill these labor positions quite easily. No, immigrants, work visa or not, do not work any harder, smarter, slower or faster than anyone else wanting to work. If someone is motivated to work an unskilled labor job then they will be just as effective as the next person. The HR for these companies definitely virtue signal and satisfy diversity quotas every time they hire someone due to their work status or ethnicity. Everyone and anyone can be replaced and so the question is, who do you, as an employer, want to replace the job vacancy with? Gonna hire cause they are a good fit or because your helping some politicians cause? Gonna grant asylum cause their lives are in danger from a government firing squad or because Biden/Harris will pat you on the back? \n\nThere is reason to illegally enter this country and it is disrespectful, disgraceful, dishonorable, dishonest and disheartening to the ones who are here legally by going through the process like everyone else paying time and money. Even Christopher Columbus paid to be here, no one handed him a free ticket to ‘paradise.’ The Mayflower patrons weren’t met with resistance by the indigenous community, they were harmonious. If there was a border in Maryland at Plymouth Rock, I am sure the Puritans would stop there first to get their passports stamped. I mean hell, these ‘asylum seekers’ don’t have the courtesy to get passports, why not? Passports are not that expensive considering what they pay coyotes. It makes no sense and is suspect. They won’t get stopped at the border if they have a passport!!!

I wish I lived closer. To help the New Canadian families. I know what paperwork is needed and where to stay. Just worked for government. They have traveled so far. So tired. Many have families. The figures don't tell all of the story when it comes to physician salary comparisons and tax-to-GDP ratios, for instance. Truly, doctors in the US can earn a lot more, but they also have to spend a lot of that on legal indemnity insurance because the US is the home of spurious litigation. The availability of doctors in Canada being damaged by the attraction of the USA is just part of a global phenomenon - professionally-qualified people will go wherever the money is best, so less-developed nations lose medical staff to richer nations. The UK effectively steals a lot of medical staff from the Philippines and sub-Saharan Africa, for instance.\n\nI notice that the UK is listed just above Canada on the tax-to-GDP table, but government spending is waaaaaaay higher than that (more like 45% and heading for 50%) and honestly to my knowledge the UK has had tax-to-GDP figures above 40% for many years (even at its lowest during the past 50 years it's probably never dipped below 35%). I don't know where the figures in that table came from, but I bet that there are some shenanigans behind them. For instance, the UK personal taxation load is heavily weighted by taxes on goods, but big companies often pay very little tax themselves. Ireland is an even more extreme example of that phenomenon - I note their relatively-low placing on the tax-to-GDP table. Multinationals see Ireland as a tax haven these days.\nLet me be clear - I'm absolutely not a a fan of socialism and fully advocate for lower taxes and smaller Government. It's notable that countries with bigger Government (more socialism) tend to take more in taxes. The USA needs to be considered state by state as well due to the differing levels of socialism. High-taxing states contribute less per-capita to federal revenues, but also note that federal support programs tend to concentrate upon those same states. The loudest voices behind the begging bowl tend to be the most socialistic. It's all a big mess - the lack of transparency does not help the case for high-taxing Governments.\n\n\nLastly, considering the current governing dynasty in Canada, I could never live there. Trudeau is a nightmare totalitarian. The events of 2020+ showed some national leaders in a revealing light. Canada and New Zealand are now two countries I could never consider living in. The USA is not far behind in the league of opprobrium. Liberty is a rare thing these days.

Great video! Another issue is childcare for working parents. There is no free childcare for working couples, both parents have to work to afford bills and the mother staying at home is not an option for the majority of working class Canadians since life is too expensive. For this reason a lot of people decide not to have children in this country simply because of unaffordability. Considering all the taxes Canadians pay this would greatly help people. The government gladly keeps bringing more and more new people into Canada ( mostly to get voters) but ignores the needs of existing Canadians. Not only you cannot find a house to live or afford one but having a family is nearly impossible without 3 or 4 jobs and using the food bank because after paying the rent there is no money to buy food.

I've lived here all my life (50 years) Canada WAS a great country! I believe all the problems now are being man made due to dumb government policies. Great video. The Us & Canada seem to be similarly alone when it comes to tax application. Sales taxes are applied the same way in both Canada & the US, on top of the sales price. This is shocking at first until you get used to it, if you ever do... income taxes are also similar, filing tax reports federally and in some cases by province or state. FYI, for folks with multiple jobs, one should be able to complete a tax form so their employer does not take the personal tax exemption. means lower pay but less surprise come tax time. Agree on employment & technology, seems like Canadians need to see new tech elsewhere before they adopt... and experience outside Canada not being counted is something many companies and governments here are looking to address, but the pace is slow

You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Quebec has some of the best food on the North American continent, we have clean air and lots of water in Canada - I'm very happy here, so don't be so negative please!

@CitImmCanada -I came to Canada in 2018 , paid my Tutiom fees working day and night offf , completed my graduation in 2020.I worked as manager in gas station from 2020-2022 during pandemic putting my life on risk , you guys first messed your immigration system during pandemic,after pandemic you got this absurd system of TR2PR , messed up your own system , in which there are Still millions of files pending , then you guys stopped the immigration for 1 year, still I thought it would get better with the time. When the immigration started back in this July the scores were so high that only PHD and people outside Canada with 0 canadian skills can only get the PR. You guys then gave visas to Afghanis , Ukrainians (the fake humanitarian help your government provides )which I don’t mind but the government should have fixed the people who are and we’re here , who came as students , who has all the details of the individuals , has all the experience needed , has all the potential needed to start the career , has 0 criminal record but no you guys keeps getting new and messed up plans. like seriously this country and system is run by this type of people. I am gonna be going back to my country soon as I don’t wantt to stay now in Canada. The coming 10 years will be a disaster if your government and people won’t WAKE UP!!!!

I’ve been living in Canada for 5 years now and I can surely say that Canada is loosing it’s beauty. It’s high time government filters the immigrants it’s taking in the country and it needs to focus more on quality rather than quantity ?\nI love Canada and I feel bad seeing it shaping itself in an ugly way. \nI came from India 5 years ago and I can say this was the best decision but at the same time I feel Canada needs to implement this things to new immigrants coming in:\n\n1) Blend in the local culture and enjoy it the way it is and not try to bring the same chaos and stupidity from back home country.\n\n2) More stricter laws against violators (rowdy immigrants)\n\n3) Once they land they should be given an etiquette lesson and good briefing about Canada whichever airport they are on.\n\n\n4) Better speak English at all times so that everyone can understand everything with clarity.\n(P.S: please don’t consider this racist as Canada has people from all round the world)\n\n5) Cultural festivals need to be celebrated in own space keeping in mind the privacy of others and be courteous to others making sure they’re not bothered.\n\n\n6) Not trying to force others to believe your way or follow certain religion etc and be respectful of others. \n\n\n7) Stop complaining and ranting about things they can’t control and not pollute the environment by being careless. \n\n\nI see a lot of my fellow people making mess of things his beautiful country and hence i hope Canada implements the above points so we can have a better and happy society. \n\nCanada is a land of opportunities and yes it has got some flaws in the system but that’s not what we can control. Nothing is the way it was years ago ,Today our society has changed , Certain things that were accepted years ago are no longer accepted in todays society .Its new Governments and new Generations of people that think differently than the ones in the past .Things are different ,Besides that, you cant blame people of today for things that happened in the past by people the generations of today didnt even know. That isnt in any way even fathomable. But if there is hate floating around Canada for some ,maybe the hate isnt for the race of the people, but for the individual and their behavior towards others. When someone is angry at someone else for whatever reason and they know nothing about that person ,BUT,they feel they need some form of revenge They call names in anger of what little they see or do know about that person ,Usually its just appearance ,race, nationality. But I dont get this one?? Black people say they dont want anybody using the big bad N word ??? I cant figure that one out because they use it themselves everyday , It seems they like it ? If they didnt , they wouldnt use it at all and eventually it would be forgotten if the new generations coming up dont ever hear it being used.

The problem is apparently the lack of people in Canada having kids. Some are trying, but unable (infertile for whatever reason), while others don't want children for various reasons, including the cost to raise them. So the government is resorting to ever increasing numbers of immigration to supply the economy with workers. This has been going on for quite a long time, though the numbers have increased dramatically in recent years. I wonder if the government has statistics on the success rate of those they bring into the country? And others have posted here the question of being able to deliver the services all these new comers will need. It's a valid concern.

Why cant we meet our Paris Agreement numbers?? Because our government is bringing in more immigrants that need housing (cutting down trees), that need to get to places that cars need to be used to get to, that need to build new sewage treatment plants, that breathe in more air.\nYes! I hope you don't underestimate Europe's existing problems when i went to London 4 years ago i was shocked that it wasnt the place i imagined it to be no need to explain im sure you understand what i mean. Im an Asian immigrant, but i wasnt expecting that i couldnt even see a caucasian in London mostly arabs, blacks, indians, some asians i do not hate it but im just confused i worked in the middle east for 10 yrs and i was hearing arabic speaking everywhere, also asian language its like im in Vancouver or Surrey area. I thjnk its not an isolated problem probably your new to that place thats why you do not see the problems yet but i hope you made the right decision. All the best. The tax is really quite high but the Canadain government though with some flaws is still better than most countries believe me i have lived in Asia, middle east and been to places and met all kinds of people. One thing that seperates Canadian from most other nationalities despite the different ethnicities and races Canadians are generally nice and less violent and id rather have my kids grow up here than any part of the world. (Canadian healthcare worker, here)\n\nAs far as paying for medications: it's definitely true that you will often pay *something* for your medications, but they are significantly cheaper out of pocket than they are in the US, because the Canadian government puts limits on what pharmaceutical companies are allowed to charge.\nAnd medications that have existed for a long time, as well as generic versions of medications (acetaminophen instead of brand-name Tylenol, which are chemically identical) are much cheaper too.\n\nIf I need antibiotics, even if I don't have a job that gives me health benefits, I may pay $5-30 out of pocket. \nBut if I want the brand-new brand-name antidepressant that just came on the market last year, I might pay $200 a month for it.\n\nUsually a doctor can prescribe you a cheaper medication that works just as well though (just make sure the doctor knows if you don't have a job or don't have health benefits through your workplace...often they will ask you that before prescribing any expensive medications, but not always).

It takes me 3 months to get a doctor appointment in the US here in Seattle and I was just told several months to see my eye doctor. Depending on medical plan the insurance means you do not go to the specialist without a referral. So Canadians may not have as much to complain about. My parents were immigrants to Canada because it was easier (my father was in Danish Merchant Marine and was in China Sea when his appointment would come up in New York). They did not have it easy because they did not speak the language and worked hard to learn. Working as a housekeeper was the norm for females and my mother's education meant nothing when she expected to work in a bank. Danes stuck together and helped each other to get jobs, with carpentry (most had apprenticeships like brick laying), to socialize, etc. and this is normal for immigrants. Working multiple jobs was normal and having a great home was their American dream instead of a government apartment. It is true for all immigrants that their kids will do better than the parents. The kids will have no accent if they learn English by age 12. There are age cutoffs on learning a language in child development. During the hiring process the jobs are given to people the interviewer perceives as being like themselves. This is proven by psychologists (I am one). This puts immigrants at a disadvantage unless they have a rare skill without competition. Dad got his house and Mom took my sister and went back to Denmark because of health issues and the US has garbage medical care and social services for the elderly (poor sister didn't speak Danish because it wasn't allowed in case it impacted our English skill). As a daughter of immigrants I worked 20 hours days and weekends almost all my life. I put myself through school and have been successful despite being female and making much less than men. Immigrants need to realize that it will be their kids who make the big bucks and succeed while the parents who immigrated will struggle. As a cultural mix (US, Canadian and Danish citizen because of wacky sexist rules) I have had a lot of confusion over the years trying to fit in and figure out what my values are. I have had to ask my US husband is that behavior normal? Of course different states in the US or going 200 miles north to Canada means a different language to speak (Canadian or Spanish in the South) and different values, ways of dress, etc. so being an immigrant can mean just traveling 200 miles north or to an insane state like Texas or New York. Culture shock is everywhere but most of us move for the money. I am thinking of going back to Canada but my home was Vancouver and that now looks like a hell hole. My husband had over a million dollars in medical care and I really do not wish to lose all my assets to medical costs in the US. So now I am trying to choose between death by earthquake in BC somewhere or death by tornado or perhaps fire storm in Calgary due to climate change.

Funny enough, if you speak French, it is a completely different story, as a lot of provinces invite specifically people with strong French skill, and Quebéc has the right to make independent decisions of policies on immigration, as Quebéc is not a signatory on the Constitution Act of 1982, so they reserve the right to making their own policies independent from the federal government. (Did I mention the fact Canada is officially a bilingual country, but New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province?) This discrepancy in language preferences of candidates can be elaborated by the TR2PR pathway that was announced in April 2021. (Did I say math? Oops, a little politics won't hurt anyone) Getting back on maths, on this date there are 196,685 profiles in the CRS pool, which equates to around CAD 590,065,500 in ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING FEE alone. 2 years later it's gonna be another, and another, and another........you get the idea right?\n\nCanada welcomes you to spend some money, but there's no guarantees.

Canada has been getting rich off all the Chinese immigrants for year's. Starting with Expo and the man that everyone loves Jim Pattison. Do your research. The growing Chinese population is rising and molding Canada to be a new version of China.
