As an Algerian registered nurse planning to immigrate to Canada, I'm disappointed with the immigration system. Many skilled professionals like us invest years in education and training, only to face a system that prioritizes quantity over quality. I trained Indians for two years as my company outsourced my job. I loved the manager I worked with. He and his wife eventually immigrated to Canada. And I am happy for them. However, it's become out of control. Some part of me wishes they would stay in India and clean it up because India is a mess.

Unfortunately it is not true that a majority of the Indians are highly qualified. To be honest many of the Indian students here have poor communication skills and questionable qualifications. What is needed is a more careful selection process. I know of some Indians who are highly trained well educated and an asset to Canada especially in the health and tech fields. At the same time I see many who are not able to pass basic language tests let alone professional examinations.

We just don’t think it’s better to have barely any regulation control or laws about attaining them owning them and what is appropriate use of them versus not. For every doctor or engineer that comes from India, there's over 1000 McDonald's, Tim Hortons, Walmart workers and dangerous truck drivers without proper training that we don't want or need. I do think it's worth pointing out that the cheap labour reduces incentives for companies to invest in increasing productivity. I think the high real estate costs might be a problem too - too much of Canada's available capital is going towards expanding housing supply and not enough on better technology - software, equipment, etc. I think part of the stagnant productivity has been due to lack of investment in technology, rather than laziness of workers. It's also worth pointing out that a lot of the workforce has been in government, which has been spending more and more money while not having much to show for it, so productivity in the government is another issue too. Bureaucracy and red tape can also be detrimental to productivity in both governments and the private sector. Maybe Canada needs more competitiveness (ex with telecommunications). Lack of training could be an other obstacle to productivity, or for example... not speaking English properly. Sometimes when I get customer service with an Indian, I have to make him repeat 5 times because of his extremely thick accent. He might not be lazy and trying his best, but still not very productive. \n\nWith slavery in the US, the South has been rather inefficient with their labour because slaves were relatively cheap (still had to feed and house them). Do your research. Less jobs in USA means higher taxes for a working people in USA. Tariffs are an effective negotiation tool Trump used during his first term. Mexico does very little with cartels who run the border. They don't stop the trains and caravans coming through their country or enforce the stay-in-Mexico rule but...they will on Jan 20th, 2025.
