I live in rural Nova Scotia which is mostly untouched by mass immigration. When I travel to places like Toronto on the other hand, it is a stark reality. Immigration used to be the family that moved here because the dad had a trade or profession that was in demand, thus contributing to the economy. Within a generation, they are fairly well integrated into Canadian society. With mass immigration, you create enclaves where immigrants never integrate but instead exist in parallel societies. Rather than leaving the old hatreds and feuds from the old country there, they import it here and it continues. Immigration by and large is beneficial to any nation, especially when you are the recipient of the “best and the brightest”, ie. selective immigration like we used to do. Immigrants were accepted based on a matrix of traits such as education, trade or skill etc that were needed in this country. Bringing in millions of people without doing anything to improve your transportation infrastructure, housing, social services etc is just simply irresponsible. Even if we shut the door to immigration for years until we can catch up, it still would take decades. This is unsustainable.

Justin Trudeau the most divisive Prime Minister in Canadian History. Trudeau's motto is to divide ,conquer and win. Trudeau cares for Trudeau and winning and no one else. According to the news we broke 40 Million residents in Canada in the new year. They just announced that the Canadian population is already at 41 million as of last week. How can we absorb this many people. I would say the majority are from India. A lot of these new residents are amazing. But hear me out......For more than 70 years Canada has accepted diverse immigrants from around the world. These immigrants have always had challenges with acceptance and integration as they bought homes and had families and raised children to be Canadians. But these immigrants are economic migrants. They don't want to be Canadians like they used to. They want the PR, and the citizenship. But they want to work and move all that money out of Canada back to India. Then when they retire, they themselves will dump all their Canadian assets and move to India where cost of living and home ownership is exceedingly less expensive. Even their federal government pension plan money will move out of the country. I'll be totally truthful...MY perception of these economic migrants is that THEY HATE US. In India they are educated, come from Middle class and upper middleclass families. They want the PR and Citizenship so they can eventually pull their entire family from India over to Canada. But they have to Work at Burger king or Tim Hortons when they arrive. And the HATE and resent Canadians for it. \n Canada allows people to keep their foreign passports and citizenship. There are 300,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Hong Kong, There are 450,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Lebanon with a War about to expand across the border. We cannot continue with this.....every time one of these places destabilizes they end up on the CBC waiving their Canadian passports demanding the Canadian government do something to get them out. \n The Author of the video is correct. Some of the places for rent you showed in this video are in my neighbourhood. My neighbourhood has been predominantly Indian since I first moved here 20 years ago, the the demographic shift isn't as noticeable other than the fact that its gone from mostly Indian Canadian families who are mostly Canadian citizens to now a lot of young Indian students who just arrived in the past few years. But I can imagine how rapid the demographic transformation might seem to someone who lived in a predominantly non-Indian neighbourhood that's now being flooded with Indians. The thing that confuses me is why India specifically has such a huge increase in immigrants since 2020 while before China and the Philippines had just as many if not more immigrants, but China and the Philippines stagnated while India just continues to skyrocket. Funny enough the people I hear who are most against this mass migration are Indians themselves who were either born here or have been living here a lot longer.

No More Immigrants in Canada. Not until we see assimilation. I enjoy the Canadian Culture so much that I continue to embrace it. I was born here so I am a bit weary of the soft approach on immigration.

Canadians have started to become poorer since public healthcare policies started. This will continue regardless of immigration, although slowing immigration may cause more economic hurdles for most Canadians. Slowing immigration will be better for immigrants as well. I believe there are better opportunities for immigrants elsewhere and that is true for hard working Canadians. Canada is for the lazy entitled people looking for freebies and corrupt government officials who can continue to exploit that lazy segment.

Many Canadians are sick and tired of this. If we are supposed to be a multicultural country than make it multicultural, cap immigration from India and allow more people to immigrate from Europe. As a Canadian born here, I think the foreign students are the tip of the iceberg. We also have to consider people that came in, and still do illegally including a criminal element. We also have a weak government that brings in folks from war torn countries, and they are not always that countries best people. Look at the Palestinian situation right now, where Most other Arab countries do not want these people entering their countries. We have to ask ourselves why that is, and is it good for Canada to bring in people where the entire Arab world says Nope! I think the entire situation in Israel and Gaza is terrible, and at the same time with some groups even the Children are raised to Hate and or be Violent. So if we are bringing in people who Hate and Support a terrorist organization, we can pretty much guess what’s going to happen inside Canada. In fact we are already seeing the hate and division. They can’t figure out this is NOT Israel, and there are no wars in Canada currently. However if they continue down this path of Hate and violence, Canada could become another battle ground. Including some of these groups who have beef’s back in their own countries! If your hell bent on war, go back and defend your own country, and don’t try that crap in Canada.

It's not migration, what theyre doing is colonization.\n\nThese newcomers refuse to assimilate and adopt the culture of Canada. Let’s just be frank for what this video is. As long as whites continue to be the majority in a Canadian city then it’s fine. When whites become the minority then it’s too much immigration. If the influx of immigrants were from a more respected country like a Scandinavian country I doubt this journalist would have a problem.

I’m a Canadian nurse and I lived in the US for 10 years during my career. I did it when I was young to gain work experience and travel with friends. It gave me a lot of insight in how it feels to live in both countries. I’ve been a nurse and patient in both counties so I also know how it feels to work, live and be a resident in both. \n\nI cannot articulate enough how it has confirmed to me how fortunate I am to be Canadian. The perks to living in the US were very superficial and frivolous things that matter very little in the broad scheme of things,….which I see as more restaurant chains, cheaper restaurant food, more shopping options, etc. As a young person when I lived there,…those things seemed amazing but matter far less as I get older. \n\nWhen I lived there, I paid a fraction of the income taxes that I paid in Canada but it’s only short term gain for long term pain. The cost of health care, the amounts of gov funded benefits (disability, EI, pension, etc) in the US makes it well worth paying taxes to offset these things as in Canada. I have had cancer 3 times in 5 years and I’ve not paid a cent for treatment, scans, surgery, etc in Canada. My employer held my job for 2 years and I received long term disability of 70% of my yearly wages and my employer paid my full pension and benefits as I was off of work. After 2 years, my cancer returned and was deemed incurable so I will continue to receive this pay and benefits until I’m 65 and can retire as I can no longer work. I have no financial worries as I battle cancer. \n\nTo contrast,…my US employer was a world reknowned hospital that had excellent pay and benefits. Had I been working there when I was diagnosed with cancer, I would only have gotten full pay for 6 weeks until my sick time and vacation time was used up. Then I was eligible for a fraction of my income for 3 months, which would not be enough to live on. I would not have had my pension paid. After that, I’d receive no more pay and my employer would hold my job without pay for 6 months and then I’d be let go. My cancer required nearly 2 years off of work so after 5 months of this minimal pay, I’d have no income, no job and no benefits with a new pre existing condition to ensure that I’d have a snowballs chance in hell of getting future coverage. Meanwhile during that 5 months of some pay, I’d still need to pay huge costs of treatment despite having insurance but that would disappear after I was let go from my job. I’d have to return to work during my treatment just to afford to continue it. I have many US friends that had a similar cancer that worked throughout to cover basic cancer care while I was able to recuperate without working or fearing being unable to pay. There is nothing comparable to this when you are sick. It is everything!\n\nSadly, many of my American friends are very ill informed on how health care works in other countries and don’t see the shortcomings in their own. Ironically though, they are willing to argue it without proper information so I often find that bizarre. While lived there I felt as though I was in a bubble where the only news that I saw was US news. I saw no info or minimal about Canada in my whole time there,…aside from falsehoods about health care to scare people away from seeking change. “Canadians are all dying while waiting”, “they are all coming to the US for care”, “they pay 80% income tax” etc. All propaganda,…some from politicians or those that should know better. It was truthfully mind boggling to me how educated people could know so little about the world. It almost felt as though they heard so much propaganda about how terrible other places were while only having knowledge of the US, that it ensured that things would stay the same without anyone wanting beneficial changes to dysfunctional policies (like health care, cost of meds, lack of gun regulations, etc). It’s very bizarre.

The Trudeau government lied to them and continue to lie to every sensible Canadian. Canada needs to fix itself first before extending any work permits. Get rid of Trudeau, illegal migrants to start.

And because housing and life is not affordable in Canada Canadians are leaving to other geographies in the global south (particularly latinamerican) to live their Canadian dream and in doing so they are really destroying the social fabric of these places. What they are doing to the Yucatán peninsula is really nasty. Local people cannot afford life at home because Canadians and US-americans are raising prices everywhere. People should demand their governments to solve the crisis, and at the dime they should organize in communities to gain back their self-determination, instead of flying to other places and continue to spread crises.

The real question is Canada vs Florida because the U.S. consists of many mini countries that have agreed on a common constitutional document and basic laws but otherwise are different countries. With that said Canada loses on every metric that matters to Florida. From economics to taxes to business to self defense and personal property Florida wins. The U.S. is secular but politicians of all nations will bring it up to some degree thinking this is somehow unique to the U.S. means you don’t understand the U.S. When it comes to political and religious diversity the U.S. has a larger population consisting of the entire world its by definition diverse. Canada doesn’t have sensible gun laws it just leaves those who can’t defend themselves at great risk.\n\nCrime is high in cities that have laws & culture closer to Canada than they do the U.S. Which have the strictest gun laws in the country. It’s bad politics & culture which are most similar to Canada that has resulted in higher crime rates. \n\nGun laws in the U.S. are for Americans to have the option to fight against a tyrannical government like we have scene in Canada with the truckers and mass freezing of bank accounts. That is what the right to bear arms was for first and foremost not just self defense. Canada ignores this entirely and instead has the perspective of give the government all the power and expect government to be “good” and act in good faith to the people which it has continually failed to do so. Canada has to bribe Quebec just to keep its country together something that has been an issue since the founding of Canada is parts of it breaking off due to tyrannical federal government power abuse.\n\nFreedom comes with risks but it’s always better to be free.\n\nPeople who leave the U.S. for Canada are doing so for political reasons otherwise they can leave their blue progressive crime filled cities for free cheap safe red states.\n\nI encourage all Canadians to search moving from Canada to Florida and you will find many Canadians that realized the American Dream. As a hindi speaking Indian I.T. professional, I don't understand why Punjabis, Gujaratis, and Tamil Indians are always dying to move to Canada? I lived in Canada and didn't find Canada all that great. I'd say America is a far better country than Canada. I guess it's mostly blue collar immigrants who are desperate to move to Canada, live with 6+ adults and don't mind dealing with racist disrespectful Canadians. It's the Canadian governments who has been desperately bringing blue collar immigrants from all over the world for the past 30 years. It's not only Liberals. Cons brought 400K each year too. Canadian economy is dependent on housing and bringing immigrants. Canadian Colleges, unionized employees, and unions LOVE bringing International students from India so they can enjoy those luxury wages and benefits. Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

They don't care about Canada and its locals, and culture, and native languages (english & french). The proof is that when they come they cloister themselves, continue speaking their native languages and basically just ignore the local Canadians or ridicule them in their native language. Bottom line is they're just here to make money, and they don't really care who they step on (taking jobs from local Canadians).

At the end of the day. It comes down to the individual. Learn new skills, use those skills to sell for money. Working 9-5, 40-60 hours a week only can bring so much. Can't fix the system? Canadian here, made $250k last year and it’s still not feasible at all to buy a house. Not necessarily because I can’t afford it but because it makes zero financial sense. Canadian here, have lived in the UK, the Caribbean and the US since 2018. Every country is screwed in its own way. There are few enclaves for English speakers. You have to go to an area (which may not be country specific but could be state/province/city specific) where your industry thrives and you can get a job/visa/sponsorship etc. It's not pretty. I'm so tired of it. I just don't think there's a way to not be screwed if you're a millennial. The way they built the economy around the world after WW2 is collapsing but the older generations continue to believe. And they have higher numbers.

I've honestly never really thought of it but as a Canadian that moved to the UK (Scotland specifically) it is crazy to have it broken down this way. My partner (Scottish) and I talked about the pros and cons in living in either country and we came to the conclusion is was better to live in the UK. TBF she is an engineer and in the future it may be better to live in Canada but right now between the salary and time off (20 day (CAD) vs her current 40 days off plus flexible working days (equals out to more like 44)) it's better to live in Scotland. I was also able to find a much better high paying job here in the UK (Edinburgh no less) than anywhere in Canada and have continued to work here in the UK cheaper.\n I hope to move back to Canada one day but don;' know if it will ever be possible.

If Canada continuous at this rate, they're not going to have many native Canadian workers at this point staying in their native country. They would even be embarrassed and refuse to fly the Canadian Flag, if the US flag gives them more opportunities than Canada does. And to be honest, at this point they could end up in a much worse recession than they were in 2008, but that's just me.

Elections are determined by new voters/immigrants. Question: How do you think working class immigrants afford multi-million dollar homes in places like Vancouver, Toronto, etc? Canadians are so ignorant about our over-generous “pension” system which is actually a welfare system b/c it requires no contributions or true commitment to residency nor a work history. Nor does it force immigrants to report their foreign assets or income unlike actual Canadians whose income and assets are closely monitored by the govt. These families sponsor their extended family members including elderly parents and grandparents while collect “pensions” from the feds and the province. Each elder collects approx $2,000/month from the feds while continuing to live in their home country. Think about it. A couple with 4 sponsored parents receives approx $8,000 per month which is paid out of general tax revenues collected from working Canadians who can’t afford rent let alone a down payment or mortgage. Canadian taxpayers buy million dollar homes for immigrants while they themselves can barely afford food.

Brampton was nice place to live back in the day. Now it is a shithole, infested with crime, violence and everything else. Toronto has been well upon its way there for more than a decade . I'm an Indian immigrant and lived in ON. I drove through Brampton once and I vowed to never go back there again. But you see this is a vicious consequence of declining birth rates in Canada. Christianity is trampled upon along with its values and principles and this is one of the results. The first thing I asked the day I landed was where were all the Canadians? Well, as an immigrant, I am sorry for the Canadians who were born here. The thing is though, until our government can find a way to solve the birth rate problem or labor shortage, mass immigration likely will continue. \n\nMy work contains data analysis of our job market and here is what we found: even with this level of immigration, our labor supply right now in Canada is still slightly below replacement level. In less than a decade, the majority of people in the workforce will retire. This creates two problems: 1) more retirees mean more pension needed from the government; 2) government needs tax money to pay for pensions, but the workforce is shrinking so there will be less tax payers. I don’t see a good solution to this unless some super AI saves the day. Of several bad solutions (gambling is more like it), immigration has a chance of turning things around. But either way, the next generation of workers will be the most overworked and heavily taxed in decades.
