To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

I’d love to visit Atlantic Canada: all my friends here on the West Coast say it’s very nice. \nI loved living in Quebec and Montreal, but both cities are very cold in winter—and I don’t speak no french too good, hoste! \nI’m from Ontario. it probably was a beautiful place until white people got there. But it’s way too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Most of my family has moved out to the West Coast. I guess they missed me.\nManitoba is very nice, but you’re right about cold winters and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Winnipeg is a fantastic city. The biggest city on the North American Plains.\nSouthwest Saskatchewan is absolutely beautiful. Nuff said.\nAlberta is one of my favourite provinces—just too bad about the goofy government they got there. I lived and worked there lots over the years. Many Albertans have moved out here to the West Coast to get away from the horrid politics there.\nBC is by far the best place to live. I live in the steep rain shadow of East Vancouver Island, nice and warm, short if any winter. All my friends live here. I used to live in Victoria—we might move back there—it’s my favourite city anywhere. Vancouver is a blast—but too big for me. I wouldn’t live anywhere else in this country but BC. \nFriends tell me Yukon is great but NWT’s Yellowknife is a hell-hole. I read a great online zine from Nunavut—Nunatsiaq. As close as I’m ever gonna get.\nSo you’re ranking is not very good from my perspective. Alberta sucks because of its dependence on bitumen—and it’s not “cyclical”, it’s doomed. Tons of crazy anti-vaxxers and religious right wingers, too. Quebec is wonderful, but too, too cold in winter. Plus muh french ain’t too good, eh...

This White Canadian way is what needs to leave Canada. I would love to explore the Northern part of the continent I live on, but the colonial country of Canada just has a disgusting influence on this region of the world. Would rather travel in Russia or Northern Europe at this point. Forget about me moving there. Way too late for that one Canada don’t care if I was Canada’s greatest hope past what Canada thought of me I wouldn’t take payment to live in Canada. An absolutely disgusting country built on the beautiful burial grounds of the people who actually belonged there.

Canada has racist issues but I assure you all the United States is way worse. I live here I know. Any country in the world that has a large majority population of white are going to be on guard with black or any dark skin people. We are seen as a threat to their comfort and superiority. Black people have to get away from these white countries and go somewhere we are welcome. It won’t stop!!!!

When we as black people can heal and learn to coexist and value each other the way other races value their own this won't matter as much. As a black man I am targeted by EVERYBODY black, white all other races even black women and I'm sure black women feel the same. When a white person is angry about non white person, why they attack the persons race, ethnicity, and religion. I think it is time to teach these people another way of saying angry words other than race lol

This is really ridiculous that the Premier of Quebec and Ontario are pretending that this is not happening? Not just towards black comunity, is against brown people, against latinos, and the special of all indigenous and of course against against lgbtq and against anyone that is not white... and this is in a very covert way they will ask people of your minority comunity to harass you and discriminate on you so the white lords are not going to be blamed of discrimination and harassment... but behind of all this is always a white person either a man or a woman pretending that they don’t know but they are actively engaging in constantly attacking and diminishing minorities

White culture isn't the dominant culture what the heck was that? And what history books are they reading out of? Completely and utterly false with scientific proof to debunk that outrageous statement. The only thing that she is correct about is the illusion that white culture is the dominant culture. Many times when you give a person a good gift or help them in any way, they feel offended but dont like to say it, same procedure with arab countries, if white men did'nt invent the bible, car, and all the stuff they love to use but dont really know how, they feel offended, and they just react with extreme violence, as they dont have other ways to express their hurt feelings. I get it I really do, I agree they may come across it MORE, but we ALL get treated that way regardless of color. I’m a white young female and have been followed around stores, been treated more rude than others around me that are maybe dressed nicer than me or look like they have more money, I’ve had different treatment than my peers, it completely just depends on the people we come across, and when we come across them, ect that determine all of it. But I can assure you I have went through the same things as any other color, maybe not as often but it does happen. I wish we could just all love each other, and that means both ways, you can’t judge me because of how the other majority of my color acts or gets treated, the same way you don’t want me to do the same. ?

What I have noticed all my life living in Canada is Caucasians don't like hearing the truth about anything where they are feel they are being made to look like the villain, but the objective is not to make anyone feel like they're on trial but to start acknowledging that this is going on regardless of if you've ever experienced/seen it or not. The reason Caucasians don't see it is because of what they call White Privilege. Caucasians will never have to deal with the subtleties of racism that minorities face everyday because they will never be treated that way even in other countries they visit or live. Many Caucasians aren't aware that stereotyping is racism as you will notice them say the weirdest things and make really weird assumptions like calling a Korean woman Chinese or mistaking a Hindu or Sikh for someone Islamic, which you should never do. Cultural insensitivity happens here because many Caucasians don't care much to learn about another culture and because of this there's it's creating even more issues. The race problem is Canada is huge and people are trying to say that it isn't but in the coming years more and more evidence is going to come out to the point where it will be irrefutable and there will either be a reform or civil war.

White male here, I cant stand hearing over weight white politicians say there is no systemic racism here. We need to rid poverty from our society to help end racism. Lets end the way we use banks and debt. Basic income and metal health for ALL people!

It baffles my mind people can hate certain people that they don't know because of the way they aren't white. I don't understand the motives. I find myself being prejudice towards those type of people it makes me so angry to see it or hear it being done.

Of all the people in Canada who are convicted of shop lifting, what are the proportions of whites, latinos, blacks or aboriginals? Are shopkeepers justified in their suspicion? We hear a great deal about racism, but never any comparative statistics that prove or disprove it. What I am trying to say is: is there any reason why this prejudice exists in the first place?\nIn Edmonton a few years ago an aboriginal man died of a stroke while waiting for triage in a hospital emergency area. IF I remember correctly, police and hospital staff alike assumed he was drunk, not suffering a stroke. I think the chances of someone in a downtown lower east side area being drunk is much higher than having a stroke. So staff just assumed he was drunk. \nIf more people of all ethnic backgrounds behaved more like whites would that suspicion disappear? I wonder if there is a logical and reasonable explanation for why shop keepers feel they way they do.

This happens both ways and is very real in Canada, but the racism against white community is just as bad if not worse than the other way around. Landlords won't rent to white people especially with kids. Some stores dont hire white people anymore. It's very Sad and it's in our faces but once again no one has the stones to dare say anything about it.

I've been 6 years here in Canada ... It's the first time I know that when I used to be asked if I need any help, they were actually checking if I am stealing ... I never took it that way .. I always took it positively and that people are being nice to customers ... I prefer to stay in my naivety ... it's easier ... in the other hand as a part time Uber/Lyft driver ... from the middle east ... white riders were generally the best and most polite (apart from very few drunk riders) ... they are miles better than all other races .. including people of my own country ...

Yet across the years I have listened to Black and Chinese people express opinions which, coming from a white person, would have meant a day in court charged with the willful promotion of hatred.\n\nFurthermore, the young woman who has difficulty with people asking where she is from might want to consider the possibility that the other party is genuinely interested in learning more about her as a person. you guys should also try going to the Philippines or any other Asian country and being white.. try and get a cab.. they will all ask you if you need a ride.. but you pay tons more than the locals would.. it works both ways and it's just normal... get over it... I rode in Planes staffed by people from China and they could tell I was from Texas.. Got treated very different.... some good and some bad depending on the flight attendant's views on The USA

I am white and I got followed all over a store by loss prevention. The store was in Chile and not the USA. All the white people here who think that racism only goes one way needs to take a stroll in overtown in Miami at 8 pm. Let me know how that goes.

I live in Victoria, and take this. I worked in a place, where the manager was from Asia, and she treated me like hell forcing me to move to another department, claiming she doesn't need an assistant. NEXT day she hired an Asian girl. She obviously needs an assistant, but because she wanted an Asian with her, she did that. And now you go to that department and you find all employees are from her country. Talk about racism, it's everywhere. And yes when an Asian or a black treat others in a wrong way, it's still called racism. People only shout racism when it comes from the White while we do see racism from others, but we don't hear anyone condemning it

This is such a ridiculous video. Especially the implication that other races are less biased than whites. Asian folks largely stick with Asian folks. Muslims often times only marry Muslims. Most black people in America admit to racial bias and there is a large amount of hate crime against white folks that is not charged that way because of their white skin. Almost everyone has cultural bias. As a matter of fact I would make the argument that white folks are more likely to date and marry outside their race and Christians too.

I am Cypriot and maybe I do not understand certain cultures. But why do people differ because of skin colour. And why we see people as black or white. We are the same in different shades of beige to brown.I do not see white or black in skin.It is not natural. We humans come in different shades. sizes, skills and talents. I'm a white guy who lived in another country that wasn't a white majority country. There is discrimination in western countries, but there are ways to deal with it. The discrimination I had to deal with every day was much more than this, but nobody wants to know about that. The way I lived for those several years was to realize that I was different and I just had to maximize dealing with good people and when I knew that I would have to deal with something like having to get an apartment, I took that countries national with me knowing I would get a better deal. I was grabbed by officers at night and threatened. basically whatever is faced here, I had on a regular basis. At first, it pissed me off, but later, I came up with a way to maximize my life to get the best treatment I could. I didn't think I would be coming back to America, but eventually, I came back for more schooling and ended up staying.

It isn't one way. There are landlords and companies that belong to minorities that don't employ people of a different colour to them, how about reporting on that.\n\n\n\nAs a white person, I have been followed about in a shop, so don't think it is due to racism.

Racism goes both ways I’ve been treated very bad because of my pale skin hair and eyes I’ve been called albino by people of colour and I’ve never and would never do that to them growing up in the uk in an area with a high Muslim community being beaten up at school ,there where places white girls just didn’t go I hated the way I looked I started to dye my hair black I wore baggy clothes and lots of layers but I couldn’t change my eyes I would alway walk with my head down so I know what it’s like to be treated differently because of colour

It’s all on where you live and who you live around. There are like 7 black families in our town. There are no black folks to harass. The police and shop owners harass white people. They profile you on what you wear. What condition vehicle you drive or the way you look. In areas with lots of black folks they follow and harass black folks. \n\nI’m not saying it doesn’t exist. What I’m saying is it’s not everywhere like these videos make it out to be. Most of the time it has nothing to do with racism.

That woman is so extra. She is not in danger. I went to canada with my family when i was 6 years old i thought it was so beautiful the native americans treated us with kindness my dad bought me some moccisens there. A chinese immagrant restaurant owner was nice to us the white people many of them wrent very nice this was in 1969 in the summer but i loved the wilderness and wanted to go back and see the indians. I was a dreamer. Unfortenately and through my own fault after i got out of the military honerably discharged . I got a dui again it was my stupidity but i payed my fine did my jail time and got educated about not drinking and driving. It is not a felony i the US but it is in Canada so canada gets ahold of my driving records maybe they hacked in. And said i could not go into canada. I noticed they let george w. Busch in though oh well i dont think canada even pretends fainess under the law . Any way they are now letting elligals into canada and giving them a hotel room . The duplicity is absurd personally i no longer want to go to canada for anything i think the wall should be put on the northern border. Ok I hate racial issues like seriously we are all the same people who cares what the skin shows I was just at Walmart and I was followed all around and got stopped because I let my son play with a toy I was going to purchase and they told me he couldn’t so I said fine what ever put it in the cart. Cue a 14 month old screaming fit the whole time same guy followed me all the way to a line I paid got stopped at door by same guy asking for my receipt and he went through every damn bag with my 14 month old still screaming i am a white woman dealing with an area that has people following Mother’s alone with their young children and attempt to kidnap them never been more terrified in my life

That's because we live in a society where it is embedded in us to conform to certain standards. Black people and other races of color are more suppressed in a sense because of what they have endured and may have to deal with this, especially, more than whites. Subconsciously, a black person is more prone to agree with the white standard that's been forced upon them , causing the answers to have no preference either way. If white people were the minority and lived in a predominantly black society then a white persons answers would also show no preference either way. I wish it wasnt so and hopefully one day, all of us as a whole, can change this idiocy, and come together as one.
