These taxes are also used to take care of immigrants when they just come in e.g., the free healthcare. What you are not telling your viewers is that higher taxes in Canada pay for the free healthcare for all which the US does not have. The cost of healthcare in the US if you happen to be poor and without insurance can wipe you out. This is the major reason for the difference in taxes. It's not just the taxes. Because now that canada has so much population due to immigration we have to pay more in the cost of living to accommodate for them. Car insurance etc. It's not really the taxes at all, even though it is quite high. Rent is high because there is more people looking for rent due to immigrants seeking a place to live. Same for house prices. Taxes are not so bad, it really is the immigration policies.

I can understand your contributions and I'm glad you shared it. But I paid tax in Nigeria and I almost pay for everything here. I pay for my child school fees, health insurance, security (transportation is hell here)) and I don't even earn that much. I will rather stay in a place where almost 50% of my responsibility is being taking care of by the government using my taxes. By that I will know my tax is working for me. The good thing is that most of this western countries helps with unemployment which I don't see here.

Free healthcare is not free we Canadians have to pay for it and that is one of the reasons why our tax is so high and having this kind of healthcare means it will take you a long time to get treatments done and we have to wait a long time to see a doctor where places like the USA you have to have insurance or pay cash but you get it done quick and don't have to live with pain for a long time but if you are in need of emergency issues right away they will get you in as soon as they can but for non life threatening issues prepare to wait a long time.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! The same here in the UK. Income tax has gone up so much and National insurance (NHS) paying every month taking from my wages. Bills has gone up too and weather can be damp, wet and cold....

I am starting to feel like that, I am looking at other countries plus their healthcare is poop, complete garbage (they could not even find out that I had a bone fracture). It's an immigrant quota goverment tax scam. They need self sustained educated immigrants to raise tax money for the locals without being a burden for the government. As far as technical or high pay occupations they are controlled by unions which make gualifying degree holder immigrants pay exorbitants amounts of money and go though so much red tape that make it almost impossible for them to practice in their field. Their degree qualifies them to come to Canada, that's all. Once in the degrees even if better than Canada's standards, they are worthless. Engineering, medical fields are run by unions whose only purpose is to ensure Canadian born high payed proffesionals in those fields and others are guaranteed a lavish life through an endless pool of ever growing customers for a short list of elite board certified providers. It's a scam, a well thought one red seal approved by Ottawa. Get your foot in the country to escape the hell in your origin country, work through towards your citizenship which is always handy to have and bail out for better opportunities else where outside Canada. Quietly homeownership will disappear over the next 25-50 yrs. Big business will own most homes in big city. The rich will make sure they have control more and more, farmers will lease/rent the land and homes will be rented. Only big business will be able to pay the maintenance and taxes on buildings and land soon and also right it off. Just wait until the next big recession when many lose pensions, jobs, investments, and bitcoin crashes. Not only will it be dual income families instead of single income nowadays…it will be 2 families in homes, quadruple income and working until they are 65 or even 70….trudeau smiles and pretends he will fix everything while Canadians suffer more and more. If you have a chance to sell and then buy in a safer community, do it now because if you have not noticed a lot more homeless and vanlifers yet, or occupied camper trailers in friends and families driveways then you will notice soon, try and buy where crime is less of an issue while homes are easy to buy and sell.

I'm not 100% regretful living in Canada. I managed to get a full time job even without going to College or University. The more money you make, the more taxes you are going to pay. You have many opportunities if you are not lazy. Prayers work all the time. Just enjoy what you have and not be so materialistic, you will survive if you have faith in yourself. Honestly, as a Canadian living in Vancouver which is the most expensive city in Canada, I can barely afford to pay for my monthly home mortgage in addition to the monthly condo fee, buy my weekly groceries, put gas in my vehicle at this time of hyper-inflation. I really don't want my income tax, consumption taxes (GST and PST which is a tax on tax), carbon tax, and property tax collected by the various levels of governments from me so that my hard earned money would be squandered on these Uranian refugees. I don't owe any of them a living. The news media said there would be tens of thousands of them wanting to settle in Vancouver. If these refugees are entitled to government benefits after they arrive, then so should I! Where are we housing these refugees when we can't even house the homeless people in East Hastings?

I would dispute the cost of living argument putting Quebec at #1. I'm from there, and in Quebec, you have extremely high tax rates, almost no social services (since the health care system started imploding in the 90s and has the only such system in Canada that is almost completely non-transportable across provinces as Quebec refuses to pay anyone else or delays payment for so long, other provinces give up). Daycare workers don't even make minimum wage, the education system is heavily politicized and extremely poor (far too many teachers who couldn't care less about their students and do little work), rents are quite high in most cities, especially when you couple them with the high tax rates and the infrastructure is among the worst in North America. There are good points about Quebec, but I put it about on par with Montana or Alabama for what it offers the population, compared to costs. And then there's the wonderfully racist and nationalist government that feels it's a crime to wear a scarf.

I'd move Ontario to the number one spot while putting Quebec at number 3. Income taxes in Quebec are way higher, weather is colder. Even with cheaper power, child care and car insurance the amount of income tax you pay looks like robbery compared to all the other provinces.

I love Quebec also but like any province it has its flaws, we are governed by 2 gouvernements who hate each other so both fight about everything,we pay taxes to both these governments, the only way you can attend or send your children to English school is if you were born here(canada) and someone in your family went to english school, so if you are french or an immigrant you have no choice in the matter you are going to french school, we were voted the most corrupt province a few years back, you can do anything you want though….as long as you paid for your permit to do it, wanna ride the trails on your atv 300$, wanna ride a motorcycle anywhere between 600$(for a cruiser) to 1700$(sportbike), growing cannabis is illegal unless you buy a 600$ permit then its ok.
