Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become the North Korea of the western world.\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. In america we like to shut out the people that are proven skilled and competent for mass migration of low skill, low educated, low/no English language understanding, with no clear understanding of where they are from and why they are hear. Look as a product of an immigrant father myself, we simply can't afford to take care of the Canadians we have, never mind all these people who come to Canada with no jobs, no housing, no money, possibly no ability to speak English or French. The last couple million of immigrants who were supposed to build homes didn't build anything so now we're bring in more to build homes for the last couple million who were supposed to build homes plus Canadians who has been here for more than a July on a sidewalk.

While I agree about what you said on the health care, you did miss one IMPORTANT aspect... SURGERIES ARE FREE for all Canadians! Most people from other countries can't comprehend it, they think we must pay at some point but we don't. Unless it's unnecessary surgery like cosmetic. Some medications are also free or at a lower cost. The biggest expenses are literally parking and a snack... and boy, do we complain about the parking fees! Lol

Some systems may be on par to ours, others might have much lower standards.What happens if we lower standards? People will die. My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. You can tell me “you don’t like it then leave” but i find it disturbing that many Canadians here don’t recognize how bad the situation gets, when governments don’t do anything to enhance quality of life and corporates take control everywhere and raise the costs to unbelievable numbers. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

I hate to tell you this but Canadians have always moved around to other countries for opportunities. Given the number of Canadians living in Los Angeles makes it Canada’s 4th largest city. Canada is no longer screening for EDUCATED, PROFESSIONAL people who can contribute to Canadian society. Canada no longer ensures there is a Canadian sponsor who pays for the immigrant, to ensure that the immigrant is not a burden on society. When teachers can not make change while volunteering at a food stand for a local craft show, this explains that our education system is junk. Our health care system is run like a well oiled corporation where money stops at the top/administration and never finds it’s way to those who need health care. I was the first generation of latch key kids to go to school with Italian, Croatians, Serbians, Armenians, Jews, Palestinians, Asians and we never saw our classrooms full of sanctioned hate. We never saw the neighbourhoods of any of these ethnicities look like open toilets. There was no gang violence amongst these ethnicities. They had their own community centres, churches, synagogues and anyone was welcome. They were active in the community, they were fantastic neighbours. Decades later we have “no go zones” in our cities and rural communities because of the danger of some ethnicities. Churches and synagogues are locked. Their community centres are locked and monitored for entry. We have lost our way. We have allowed chaos agents into our country and we are paying the price and will continue to do so.

A lot of people use Canada as a bridge or backup just in case of... They stay until they get their passport and then leave. The reality is, Canada doesn't offer as many opportunities despite the government claims. Highly demand jobs are most like in the construction areas or some medium-lower non skill jobs, Tim Hortons or some food chain retail stores companies etc.Considering today average pension is around $1600 dollars, so doing a simple math just to rent a room will cost you $1000 dollars, only that plus food, and remember, if you are lucky, don't pay more for some extras, such as special medical treatment or so, all that plus taxes.There's not much motivations to stay half of your life in the freezer ,or in the oven like chicken.

Reddit is a very leftist platform and so these types of responses were predictable. A lot of it would have been true in the 70s and 80s but these are Canadian stereotypes that people are desperately holding onto. More and more things are being delisted from our healthcare coverage, meaning that I often hear of people getting charged out of pocket. I was surprised 3 years ago when my doctor ordered a cancer screening after I was suffering a digestive issue. I was not prepared to pay out of pocket for something as essential as cancer screenings. This sort of thing always used to be covered. It was always covered by our much higher cost of living and our higher taxes. If my taxes keep going up, I expect services to get better, not to decline like they have been. Our seniors are afraid to go to the doctor these days. Suicide is being offered to them instead of proper care and treatment. After they had spent decades working and paying into the system they are being shut out.

Have resided in America for a period of time...in a smaller community.. the Americans are beautiful warm people which I met..Canadians are quick to bias there opinion of america..if your free enterprising I had a wonderfully time there..and willing to understand Americans think quite different . I follow some UK based nurse Youtubers like Nanelle Griselda and some of them actually bought a house in the UK within one or two years of arriving as nurses or caregivers in the UK. The problem with the UK is that it takes too long to get papers. But these nurses that are recruited from Africa with working visas and jobs waiting are able to open a bank account, build credit and buy a house within a year. In Europe, language is a barrier that makes it hard for people to understand the system plus the immigration problem which makes it hard to make head way ?
