I immigrted in 2016 and went back to my country in 2022 after collecting my citizenship, and staying a total of 5.5 years.\n\n In terms of money, i brought $15k as settlement funds. Saved in excess of $65k from salary i earned after paying taxes and got $16k in tax returns. From these savings i helped my sibling in paying his NDBE exam fee, paid hospital bill when my mom was diagnosed with covid in 2020 (she fully recoered and is in excellent health now) for myself i bought books, computers and other electronic gadgets of my choice, After returning back i made an investment of $20k and bought a plot of land for $25k measuring 240 sq yards and still left with nearly $12k.\n\nIt would need another $50k to built a double story house on it with all the luxurious ( which i will save in my next tour) . To me the best place on earth is where you can live a happy and comfortable life.

I appreciate the way you present the reality. One way to cope with salaries and taxes is to open you own enterprise. This is the canadian way of growing fron a wealth point of view. As a person leaving from a salary, it is still possible to grow depending on your skills. But beggining your own business to exploit your skills will make you 'fly' to the next level, which is the actual way of growing. It took me a lot of years to realice this. Just think about it, provinces allow medecins to incorporate what means that they will pay less taxes and become richer sooner. This is just my thought, other people may think in a different way, I just try to give positive ideas.\n\nSecondly, Canada is still a country to live in a bit better than other countries considering many things happening around the world. Crime and economics is worst everywhere also. But, it all depends on what criteria counts for you. About society, it's not easy to make real friends except other inmigrants that need it too. I hope the grass is greener wherever you decide to land (unfortunately I somehow doubt it...your next destination will have inherent challenges of its own). I would also forewarn you that you can't simply emigrate anywhere you want. Most countries have highly restrictive immigration policies (Canada is very much an outlier on this). And very few countries fully respect human rights, including freedom of expression (especially for women). Be careful what you wish for (even if I agree with a couple of your criticisms). My girlfriend and I live right downtown in what used to be a really nice area near a park. Now we have homeless doing drugs on the street every time we go out. We are planing to move away to USA next year and can’t wait. Being a citizen of Canada is not worth the cost. There is no reason to pay so much in taxes and to be stepping over needles and seeing the gray skies and the country falling apart.

Salam...Torontonian here. Last few years i have been in the same boat but cant decide where to move. With 3 little girls and all the reasons you also mentioned i dont see a future living in this chaging environment. I did grow up in UAE so i have experience living in the gulf and have visited recently, its got expensive and cant stand the sutle discrimination that exists within the system. Next, moving to places like Malaysia, not sure about finding quality work with good income buts thats one of the top in the list, with turkey and souther USA (i know). \nGood luck on your journey and keep posting :)

I came to Canada in Jan 2022 on permanent residence from India and returned back to India in November 2023. My reason to move to Canada was, I moved back to India for personal reasons after living in USA for 10 years (studies + work). I moved to Canada because I missed US, and thought it was difficult to adjust in India, and US would never give me green card anyway (due to country of birth quota). I moved to Canada with a job in hand, but opportunties are limited here. On top salaries are low, even compared to India. Healthcare is a disaster. In US, I could see a doctor next day. I had 4 surgeries done in US, multiple CT scans and countless X-rays. Never had an issue. In Canada, despite paying high taxes I fear of not able to get medical treatment and wait for months to see specialist. \nSlowly I realized, this country is not USA anyway and was naive of me to think of it as a viable replacement. I ended up returning back to India, as in end I realized India has issues, Canada has different ones but in India at least I can earn well (70 to 80K CAD while 2 BHK costs me like 500 CAD per month, 300,000 CAD for luxurious 3.5 BHK) and I can be close to my parents, the reason for which I left US. I will always miss US though. As long as I have family in India, I will never think of settling anywhere else. But the only country I would ever consider in future is USA.

Hello Saleh Family, I am not a Muslim and never understand why people from Muslim countries decide to move to Canada. You knew well in advance Canada has winter, no Muslim culture and environment, no Arabic language, hijab is not welcomed, etc, etc. Why not to stay at Palestine where you came from, why not to move to countries with same weather, same religion, same culture, same language, be a Muslim majority at countries like Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia which is next door to country you born. Canada is suffering because of bad leadership. The government is unable to step in in housing, because that would mean lowering the global value of it. Unable to step in in services, because it is stuck with unions that support laziness instead of competences and performances. Unable to step in in anything because it is controled by a literal mafia that totally surrounded the government and pull the strings of every ministers who are no longer there for the people they represent, but afraid of being killed by those mafiosies. \n\n So the honest worker is mostly doing 32k a year with charges that are about 30k a year. That means most people are going paycheck to paycheck, unable to afford savings, nor think about retirement. Unable to afford to improved their housing situation, paying rent that is so high that it should be consider a crime. \n\nIn fact, i predict many landlord will be killed in the coming years, by people losing their mind, because of incredible amount of stress they are suffering from. You think i am joking? Just the last 2 days, 2 woman lost their life because of being beaten to death by their husband... \n\nThis country is failing and failing fast because it doesn't take care of its population anymore... it is a doom country and immigration was the nail in the coffin. The system is unable to sustain such a demand. The next year is gonna see an incredible rise in criminality, and i foresee mass murdering events, like there was in the US.

Great video, candid and honest appraisal of the current situation in Canada. We moved to Canada from the UK 20 years ago and initially we loved every minute. But the slow spiral into the hell hole since Trudeau took power has totally changed our opinion of Canada. We have now retired and spend winter in the USA and considering leaving if Trudeau gets re-elected next time around. Also we have to say how Canadians are very disingenuous and can be two faced.\nWe do have many Canadian friends but in 20 years we are not that close to them.

life in the u.s. is way better. if you look at all the major cities in canada, they are in close proximities from the major u.s. cities, which means is that the economy in canada is very dependent on the u.s. so unless canada will find ways from getting out of the u.s. influences, which i don't see why should even try that, life in canada will never be better than the mighty next door neighbor, and the same thing goes with mexico as well

Anyone who crosses the border illegally for any amount of time be it five minutes or 5 years , it’s a life time ban from ever entering this country again . They have to pass a law like this and have include the ones already here , if you get caught you are deported and never allowed to enter the country legally again period never again. I would have the president give a speech encouraging all illegal immigrates that from this moment until 30 days from now you will have to go back to your home country, if you can’t afford it we will put you on a flight to the airport of our choice in your homeland.So for the next 30 days you will not be stopped or detained if you are leaving the country but anyone who’s still here after that deadline and caught there’s no immigration court with free lawyers you are gone with a life time ban . If you want to come legally than all the regular procedures are still in place . First find a sponsor, than get a visa so you can go to the immigration office and get a background check , if you don’t qualify than too bad it’s not our fault you don’t meet our requirements to be eligible to become a U.S. citizen. If you pass the background check and can prove you can support yourself and have a place to live then you get a green card and you get in line while you are in this country and wait your turn to become a U.S. citizen .
