Seriously speaking i love this city but as you said it is very expensive to live in live in the midtown both my wife and myself are full time workers and we are managing the expenses, the declining ratio is for sure i blame the government, the bad thing is no matter what every other immigrant whether they lands in halifax or calgary they move to Gta or in toronto, the government should have a check and balance to those people who are nominated in other provinces and moved to Toronto, i dont blame the people it is the government they need to make the opportunity in every province and put a cap on the individual if you are landed in Saskatchewan you should stay in the same place for almost 5 years, if a person or a family live constantly for 5 years at one place they don’t even try to think to move any-other city unless they have some serious issues their, i am also an immigrant a landed PR from Pakistan Alhumdulillah i work hard my wife does the same Managing the expenses but it’s true it is not affordable for everyone now.

I’ve only been to Toronto once.. and that was when I was 5 lol. That was also 33 years ago. Is there still a Hard Rock Cafe there? I remember that. Plus that really big needle tower.

i first saw u, watching one of your travel vlogs a few years ago, and i have to say... i still love u! :) i came across this video doing my personal research on why a close friend of mine who emigrated to canada in 2009, is now trying desperately to turn back. Actualy all my friends who emigrated to canada in early 2000's are already back. I see we exeprience all over the planet the same cost of living problem, but what hapenes in canada is quite hard to endure

I’ve lived near Toronto for the vast majority of my adult life. Around 2016 I was working there and started to explore the city a little bit more, living there for a short time. I think the draw and attraction was that it always was a little hectic. Always something to look at, so many different cultures. Also such contrasts, walking through the downtown core and then out to a neighborhood like Greek town. With parks and even forests to be found. It went from tense to a feeling of refuge and a sense of a natural oasis within a chaotic machine. I think the sense of calm which could be found has become a little more rare. Also a certain openness that people and cultures had towards each other has been fading. Discourse with other opinions morphed into the near impossible. It’s all by design and sad to see. It’s a tangible and significant change. When you zoom out at the infrastructure, social and economic level. It’s very hard to see a healthy recovery happening anytime soon. Mostly due to those being in charge not caring. Still lots of beauty there. I would never choose to live there again, but if anyone is still living there and reading this. My advice would be to explore the greenways, parks and forests to be found. The juxtaposition of city and nature gives a heightened appreciation to both realities, and really gives a more balanced/peaceful mindset to explore the good which can be found

Couple is honest and hard working, no question about it. Canada is not land of opportunities anymore, as it claims to be. If you are here for like 15-20 + years, then things might be different for you. Trudeau has pretty much open the borders for like anyone, I do understand that without immigration Canada cannot survive economically, but we need to beef up the immigration process. Australia is like middle of no where, but cost of living is not as high as Canada, and wages are higher. I need to understand the salary of Sr Manager and executives in Australia, that would explain the difference between both countries.

I didn't watch your video till the end but it seems like you decided to return because you found it hard to adjust in Canada. It is even more strange because you were even lucky to find employment. For all of those who find it hard to settle in Canada like this family, please weigh your discomfort against your kids' future. By taking your kids back, you are taking them back to extreme lifelong competition. Is your discomfort that big of an issue that you will take your kids back to that world. It will help you decide.

I came to US at a young age - it is a sacrifice for the parents.. but your kids will eventually make a great life for themselves. It is hard to settle here in your adult life, if you are use to the comfort of india. I felt your loneliness… cause when I moved here there was no internet yet and no whatsapp, so couldn’t even talk to our relatives. Thanks for your honest viewpoint. All you said is total truth. All work so hard abroad ..if u work that much in your country salary will come same. All my uncles and aunts came back in old age to rebuild house and die here. But they lost their children who stayed back and had become foreigners. I made sure all my children come back and settle in our country .

I thought ur going to share some serious issues bt this are common in all countries except our home country. I agree with you for 50% Here its completely independent life style . Once u start living here u wil know ur capacity and be proud of urself like u can do all ur works by urself. Missing family members and loneliness is definitely true. Education is much matter in india that is also true. And last wt u said was 100% true if ur earning good in india no need to move to other countries u can hardly save 50k to 1 lakh compare to india . To just save this no need to come so far from family.

Did it as a 5 year project and only made it for 15 months. Needed an expensive 100k procedure. Decision to move back to Canada was a no brainer, waited 3 months to get back on healthcare role and had a successful procedure and didn't have to mortgage the house or cash in RRSP's. Having said all of that many Americans work extremely hard and are driven to get ahead.

If it’s so hard here then what is the reason to choose Canada?

I'm Canadian but It's hard to compare Canada to the US. The US has a population of approx 335 million people and Canada has just reached 40 mil. There's bound to be more crime etc in the US. I would choose Canada for that reason, plus the health care.

It is hard to describe the difference in attitude. In Canada, people don't worry. Once when I was in NYC, somebody passed out in a bar and I called 911. Only later did I understand this might've cost him months of pay.

Sooooo.. here is my own side of the story .. i am happy he said *if you are stable*… well for most ppl in a situation like mine.. jobless here in Nigeria or living on 50k salary, no connection to get good jobs, nobody willing to help, getting a canadian visa is like winning the lottery.. its hard dere but i bet we will b able to cope nd cnt complain bcos it already is hard here too(worse)… we cn start small and grow… as for the racism honestly the tribalism here too is real.. all i am trying to say is what can they throw at us that we havnt already experienced, i mean ppl in my class… so was i happy when i got my visa some months ago? 100%.. also 100% ready for the new challenge.. long story short there are two sides to being an immigrant… please correct me if i am wrong ?

People who think it is easy , it is not … take chances … every county has positives and negatives… \n\nWhen you go out of the country, you have to learn there ways.. find alternatives to food you cook, learn quick easy recipes… for dusting buy a second hand roomba .. where there is a will there is a way … \n\nIndia ke Goan main bhi toh log khud ka kaam khud karte hain .. other countries make you self sufficient for sure , there is no pampering.. \n\nBut you are ready for hard work and want your kids to have better life surely it will motivate you..

But Tyler… He does NOT talk of NYC but upstate New York. Two worlds!!! Yes, the Big Apple is not representative of America (I’d actually say, it is a lot more European than American - and I am saying that as a European who has lived in Manhattan for a year), but upstate New York is completely different from the city and much more like other U.S. states. I have lived in New Jersey near Philadelphia, in Louisville, KY and Manhattan for a year each at the end of the eighties, the mid-nineties and from 1999-2000 and I can definitely say that the immense difference of all the posh and rich vs. all the downtrodden and poverty-stricken has really shocked me. You hardly see these extremes here in Europe - ever!

The guy from Caribbean doesn’t even seem to own anything. People with caliber/money don’t hang keys (car keys??) and name tags on the neck!!??? He goes home sells his inheritance that his parents had hard earned and went to Canada to buy fixer up homes with the money!!

All people saying india is better in these comments need to remember one thing … these must be retired ladies who have completed most of their life responsibilities… for young people starting their lives unless you are super smart or have rich family just existing in any metro city of India and raising a family is next to impossible.. that is the reason most youngsters leave India .. trust me it is not easy but still people make such hard choices

I'm canadian and have ulcerative colitis. During a flare up I was off work and joined a colitis group online with americans in it. I was stunned at how many were working double shifts at their job while in a full flare up of pain and constant bathroom issues to save up for a specialist appointment and a colonoscopy. The same thing I received for 100% free here. It broke my heart the suffering they talked about and lack of compassion for sick time through their jobs. I fight hard to protect our healthcare here as I know there are forces at work to privatize it though conservative politicians.

I hardly have money in my bank account on disability here so how could afford to go to the doctor for a emergency

I have a good friend who spent a good many years living and working in the US. He summed it up as being very similar in many ways, with some frustrating drawbacks, but overall it was far better in many ways. Don't beat yourself up. We might have a few things going for us, but those who have the will and determination to pull their weight have a far better shot in the US. \n\nRemember that. Americans get out of America what they put into it. Canadians get what they get out of Canada no matter what. If you like the feeling of the reward of hard work and perseverance, you're only limited in America by your own ambition. If you like the comfort and safety of a network of social systems, then Canada is the place to be. On the flip side, if you want to have the peace of mind that the government will take care of you if you can't take care of yourself, then don't go to the US. If you're ambitious and creative and want to work hard at making something of yourself, Canada will crush your hopes and dreams like a bug.

My brother in law found out the hard way when his first child was born 35 years ago. His hospital bill was over $13000 My wife and I lived in Canada then, and 1 year after our first child birth cost... $0. !

11 years ago a trip to the ER in Texas cost close to or more than the cost with insurance than a the cost for an ER visit in NS (for those out of country who are not covered by our provincial program). \n\nWe would pay $50 copay at the ER, then over. The next few days we would receive a bill for the physician, then from pharmacy, then from the facility, then from X-ray, etc, every separate department would have its own portion. \n\nAnd then there was the unpleasant surprise when the doctor who saw you in the ER was not an “in network” doctor even though the hospital was “in network”. Our insurance paid 70% of (approved) in network costs, but only 50% of out of network costs. Keep in mind that “in network” hospitals and providers had lower negotiated rates with the insurance companies. Which meant you would have coverage of 70% of a negotiated lower rate for in network but out of network was 50% of a higher rate.\n\nMy neighbours were lovely people. The culture was much different than I expected. The gun culture really hits you in face. For the first while it seemed to be so obvious - signs on pharmacies, hospitals, and schools that state that guns were not allowed, even with a conceal and carry permit. Very quickly, that became “normal”….\n\nFood was amazing. Gas was cheap. Politics was everywhere. Christian mega churches were everywhere - along with some very vocal overbearing people who force their beliefs and opinions on anyone who is near them. \n\nI was surprised with the number of people who felt it was appropriate to discuss religion, politics, and money with virtual strangers. A lot of very personal questions as well. I am guessing it is the difference between what is considered extremely rude in Canada, vs what is just a regular question in the US (or that area of Texas). \n\nAnd another very different thing was how hardly anyone swore. I had the bottom drop out of a bad carrying glasses when I was in San Antonio, the glasses broke, and I said “Shit.” I have never seen so many heads turn towards me. Most of the females looked at me with complete disgust and a lot of the males laughed. I expect that the American who heard me swear, were thinking I was the rudest person. One of my children’s friends was from Australia and when their mom came over one day, she said something to the effect of “so glad you are Canadian” because she sis not have to worry about offending me if she said fuck. That was a relaxing afternoon.

Coming to canada is a big trap. No life, freezing cold and expensive. After a while, going back will be hard after loosing your connection with ppl you know back home.

Mam, u r. Experience in canda was very real, but ur husband did very bold step to come back to india, no dought struggle n hard work part of life, u find same thing evry where in forign countries, I was there same time when u were there, one thing I observe there quality of life n dicipline is very good.

Everyone from India wants to move to Canada to make it like India - this mentality has to change. \n\nI don’t get why we cannot learn or adapt to new things and learn a thing or two. \n\nYes Canada teaches you responsibility and accountability. Passing a buck just because you don’t feel like it, don’t want to is frowned upon.\n\nEveryone in India loves to have a maid for every little task ans pay them so little the maid remains a maid while the one employing them feel good and Score brownie points. This is the hard truth we want to succeed, we want to give an illusion of success to someone but cannot be happy or appreciate it, why because we miss India or India wali feeling. I live in Toronto and I am not rich. I am regular person. \nIf you are an immigrant and especially if you are considered from visible minority group aka not white, DO NOT leave Toronto at all ! Work hard and make it work for you. I am sure the majority people from your coutires in Canada are located in Toronto and its close cities. If you chose to live outside this multicultural heaven called Toronto then expect to deal with deep racism. Yes people in Canada are rasicst althogh it is not openly like USA.\nIf you are into education and you want to do your degree, move to Montreal. Tuition fees in Montreal are way more cheaper than in Toronto or other parts of Canada. I lived in Montreal before and I went to university there. Montreal is great for education, aba rent are cheaper than Toronto but not for living there if you are visible immigrant. You will never feel you belong down there. Where as in Toronto, you will feel you belong to it within 30 mins max of you arruval. Toronto's motto are : you belong here and we have been waiting for you.\n62%of people in Toronto weren't born in Canada. You will find your community from your country in Toronto and the people are well established. I have been in different cities in Canada and I always felt stranger, even cities as close as ashawa.\nIn conclusion I would say to the visible minority immigrants stay in Toronto as much as you can for work and if you want to study in university go to Montreal. There are two major English universities in Montreal :Concordia university and McGill university, where McGill is one of top 10 university in the world.\n\nFor you Alina, I understand what you are saying and you can go somewhere in Canada and try it out with no racial or inclusiveness issues. don't count a place out until you've been there. yeah toronto is seeing more crime and is more expensive than ever, but e.g., vancouver, which is a lot smaller, more peaceful, easier to get around, may actually still not be necessarily better (real estate is just as expensive, hard to make friends, rains and snows in the winter now, everything closes super early), but you really gotta try a place and go with where you love. LA is full of problems, but I really love it there.

Thanks for your review ..... But I think you concluded too early during your hard time....you need atleast six months to adjust with such a major change and settle down. Two months is nothing and it's hard to understand everything in this limited time.

People living in the western countries are hard workers, they do everything themselves and that’s why their living standards are much higher than those living in the developing countries. The grass is never greener on the other side ?

Nice Vlog, yeah I can totally understand . I live in America and here even small things we have to do by ourselves it’s very hard when you are sick then nobody is here to help you , you have to cook cleaning by ourselves and no other help . And you have to assemble all furniture by ourselves. Really I love my India ?

Means Due to bad behavior of indian government sikhs want a separate country. Sikhs did hard for freedom of india but India always had bad policies for sikhs.

As a matter of fact the Doctors enjoy more in Africa when they become Medical Superintendents and you can imagine everything is political and they become more relaxed and Lord it over the Hospital Admins and Nurses. They can easily travel abroad for holidays and it's like they are Kings managing a Kingdom. ??? So why won't they say Europe is hard for them???

You ask any Indian about Independence war and the first name they will take is Shahid Bhagat Singh. Hindus love their Sardar brothers and they actually are the most respected in Indian culture due to them being hard-working, honest, brave and if someone is asked who you would you turn/trust if your life needs to be protected - they will say 'Sardar'! Plus bonus we all get to crack Sardar jokes which our Sikh brothers don't mind and have a laugh TOGETHER !!

Life is hard if you're not flexible weather it's India or any other country. Even if you just change city or state in India only you have to make a lot of adjustment that's natural. Every place have it's own good things and bad things, we just need to decide where we can adjust and where not.
