If it was great, why are the developing countries' economies so bad. He's making it sound like racism dosen't exist back in Nigeria, lol. Nigeria isn't excluded from racism, what we have here is Tribalism and nepotism which is even far worse than racism. The world is encompassed with different backgrounds different cultures and and personality so you are bound to Encounter racism wherever you go, just that it is limited in some places but still exist nevertheless. \n\nAs for the employment sector in Nigeria in comparison to Canada, my God. In Nigeria, You can be a graduate of a medical field with BSC or higher or Even a bachelor's of Law and still be jobless for several years unless you are self employed or have a strong connection, a friend of mine has a undergraduate degree in medicine but works as a shoe maker seeing there is no Job available and she skilled in shoe Making trade. The unemployment rate here has been increasing rapidly and on top of that the cost of living dosen't make up for that, even cost of living going high where no one understands and of course you have the bad governance to blame for that. Education system is here is also terrible, why would one be spending 8 years for a 5 year course due to Asuu strike, all these little things can be overlooked by the government but they are part of what dampens the growth of the economy NGL.\n\nNot saying Canada dosen't have it own downfalls, it does like the housing crisis and all but IMO I see they still strive better, one of which would include bringing in foreign workers of skilled Trade to help improve the economy, they go as far as sponsoring visa application and the employers go as far as getting LMIA for foreign workers and the health care system appears to be more stable based on what I have experienced. The educational system is also okay, my sis got funding worth $15k for her tuition whereas her tuition is $20k, they already paid up to 75% of it for her Thesis, mind you I said funding not scholarship, they are totally different. \n\nNot tryna criticize either country before some trolls attack me in my comment section but am only stating my experience and what has been happening in both sides of the fence, it as easy as that.

The current situation in Nigeria and other similar countries is precarious. The economy is in turmoil, security is a major concern, and youth unemployment is high. When people migrate en masse, it's understandable. However, life abroad isn't all paradise; struggles continue!

His points about Nigeria are just why the country isn't working. And then points about Canada is why Canada is working. Especially about working. We know what our hospital services look like. \n\nThe fact that someone of his status sees Canada as a better place for his children tells you he is just one of the 3 percent wealthy Nigerians.

It's simple logic, if you doing well in your country, there isn't any need permanently relocating abroad, i am doing better here in Nigeria, though the inflation is choking but I could still pull forward day by day and my environment is one that keeps my sanity intact. Even when I am broke or sales are stagnant I could fall back on other things, even when there is no money to eat i can eat from my landladys house or travel back home, the community enables you to prosper and the empathy of people, how we care for ourselves is really soothing.

As a second generation Nigerian immigrant (parents were born in Nigeria and I was born in the US). I 100% agree w/ his perspective. I’ve spent consider amount of time in Nigeria w/ my side of the family that’s doing well and the other side that aren’t. Aboard should only be for people who have no opportunity back home as in they have tried everything and nothing worked for them. If you are doing well in Nigeria, try and give birth to your kids in the US so they can retrieve citizenship. There is no reason a successful person back home should sell their things and move aboard even for kids as you can send them aboard to receive an education and help them gain citizenship and from their they can file for you. The amount of systemic racism, odd jobs you will have to work (God forbid you don’t have a degree and you move aboard for non degree purposes that’s when aboard will show you pepper), cost of surviving is expense here especially now as inflation is high. It’s just not benefiting especially if you were better off in Nigeria. However, this shouldn’t stop you from coming just know that the road isn’t easy and some places are worse than others. I’ve never been to Canada but have been to the UK and by far would advice anyone from back home to avoid UK at all cost. Not even sure how Nigerians are even making it there lol (it’s a never ending cycle of poverty plus citizenship is very difficult to gain and the discrimination in my opinion is much worse than the US. UK society has a class system and it only really empowers British people. The UK is so bad that they even discriminate against Eastern Europeans that should let you know a lot.) Also why do you think most Brits Nigerians come back to Naija hoping to secure job compared to American Nigerians and let me tell you it’s not because the UK is close to Nigeria, there is a true lack of opportunity. There are more opportunity in the US and possibly Canada compared to the Europe.

He is older, has higher education in a field that is highly regulated in Canada and had a stable and conformable situation back home which isn't the case for the majority of immigrants from Nigeria. He is already set in his ways. He should go back to Nigeria and support his kids if they want ti study/immigrate to Canada.

Respect their journey and experience but I also somehow got my Australian PR around the same year they completed their studies. The difference is that they completed bachelors and I did my masters there. I agree to some of things but overall it isn’t tough to get PR in australia if you have right skill and knowledge. Never had issue in finding part time job, had to groom myself a little for the permanent jobs, but eventually got into corporate jobs easily. Yes, had to do IELTS a few times to get 7 each but eventually got it and the points were completed because my age was appropriate. Basically I thought that they just wasted so much time just like that because they didn’t plan their migration properly. Wasted so much money and time in moving here and there just like that.

As a Canadian the American system isn't broken. We have so many immigrants coming in from India and Nigeria you can have them. Not only are they disrespectful, but greedy and have no problem throwing trash directly on the ground. They also contribute to wage suppression meaning that they are willing to work for a lower rate of pay. Many Canadian companies will not hire these people given that they don't have North American experience, so therfore will be forced to use food banks and the welfare system.

Aside from what was said (making more money), other reasons why many immigrants would fight tooth and nail to get U.S. citizenship are the fact that the U.S. has a bigger and wealthier population, which translates to American companies getting more investment money. And in turn, are alot more willing to invest more of that money into their employers. Other underlying reasons include an overall warmer climate, rich pay less taxes, and the fact that an immigrant finally obtaining U.S. citizenship is considered a status symbol. \n\nAnd there are other reasons why Canada government is far more immigrant friendly. The government wants to increase their country's population to at least 100 million, and that isn't possible with Canada being one of the numerous countries experiencing a decline in baby's being born. And the new immigrants are to hopefully prevent the time in the future when Canada has too many old people, but not enough caretakers and young people to tax.

If they start giving these people benefits I’m gonna be so pissed off. Born and raised in the U.S. and if I can’t get housing and an alien can then there really is no hope for this country. Nothing to do with the Mexican people. This goes for any and all immigrants. Do it right or don’t do it at all, cause you’re fucking over a lot of people in your selfish attempts at a “better” life. I hate this so much. I know it’s not these peoples fault that their countries aren’t helping them but America isn’t even helping its own people. Imagine how it feels to be from the US struggling and then these people come and somehow our country has the means to help them when they won’t not can’t won’t help their own. What other country do you know of where you can just decide to cross their boarder demand help and say you know what I’m just going to live here illegally now. And if we don’t help them they have all kinds of ways to sue the state and demand help even though they’re not even citizens. That’s what’s crazy to me. They make you do a bunch of stuff before you can travel and some countries won’t even let you visit let alone live there with or without a criminal record but these people can just walk right in. Any countries borders are important they are there for protection. Ours are not being protected which means the country is not protected. I just don’t see this turning out well for anybody, not them not us. There is a scene from the titanic that I’d like to relate this situation to. The scene where Roses mom is in the boat with that other lady who has new money the chubby one. She wanted to let people on the boat that were drowning around her, and dude wouldn’t let her. It wasn’t because he was being mean it was because if people started holding onto the boat and trying to get on the boat they would panic, and eventually everybody would swarm the boat. The boat would not have been able to hold the weight of everyone holding onto it. Well the same here there’s people who are already drowning, and other people from other countries want to come here, but all they’re gonna do is sink the ship, and then there will be no help for anybody and everyone will be doomed.
